Visitors ‘barred' from entering Secretariat!
In a new twist, even the visiting hours have been cancelled on the pretext of 'security reasons' when Revanth Reddy is in office. Officials maintained that the CMO has ordered the bar on visitors due to the busy schedule of the Chief Minister in the Secretariat.
For instance, just prior to the commencement of what became a lengthy Cabinet meeting Monday afternoon, SPF (Special Protection Force) personnel, deployed as security staff, restricted the movements of visitors, who are normally allowed to meet officers between 3.30 pm and 5 pm every day. The 'precautionary' measure was to such an extreme extent that before the start of the Cabinet meeting, the entire secretariat was cordoned off and visitors' movements were prohibited at all entrances.
Officials said that although passes were issued to visitors, their entry was restricted on Tuesday also as Revanth Reddy was participating in the Rythu Nestham meeting with farmers near the adjacent Rajiv Gandhi statue.
'It is perhaps for the first time that visitors were not allowed during the CM's visit to the Secretariat and its surroundings.
These days, he has not been coming to office regularly and is mostly conducting review meetings at the Police Integrated Central Command office in Banjara Hills. His Secretariat chambers and facilities on the sixth floor are being used only to conduct Cabinet meetings and interactions with delegates from industry and abroad,' said officials of the Secretariat wing, while maintaining that intelligence alerts are important for taking such instant decisions.
Meanwhile, visitors poured out their woes after being prohibited from meeting officials.
Most of them came to get clearances of their long pending files, mainly pertaining to reimbursement of dues, land dispute issues, transfers and CMRF funds. They said that it would be difficult to stay in Hyderabad if the visitors were not allowed to meet officials without prior information.
On average, around 500 visitors come to the Secretariat every day to submit their applications across departments.

In Independence Day speech, CM Revanth Reddy urges Centre to clear BC quota bills
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday urged the Centre to approve Telangana's landmark bills providing 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies, education and employment. The CM was addressing the gathering after hoisting the national flag during the 79th Independence Day celebrations held at Golconda Fort. Citing figures from the socio-economic survey conducted by the state government, covering 1.12 crore families, Revanth said the findings revealed that BCs constitute 56.33% of the state's population. 'Based on this data, our government has introduced 42% reservation for BCs. The bills passed by the state legislature have been sent to the Centre for approval. On this historic occasion, I urge the Union government to clear the bills,' he said. Revanth underscored his government's commitment to social justice, highlighting that Telangana is the first state in the country to implement Scheduled Caste (SC) sub-categorisation following a Supreme Court verdict, classifying 59 sub-castes into three distinct groups. The chief minister also painted a stark picture of the state's fiscal health, revealing that the Congress government had inherited a staggering debt burden of Rs 8,21,652 crore. This included Rs 6,71,757 crore in borrowings, Rs 40,154 crore in pending employee dues and scheme liabilities, and Rs 1,09,740 crore in obligations under the SC/ST sub-plan, Singareni Collieries, and the power sector, he said. Despite these constraints, the government has serviced Rs 2,20,676 crore in debt — Rs 1,32,498 crore in principal and Rs 88,178 crore in interest — while continuing welfare initiatives, he added. 'Mahalakshmi scheme benefitted women, RTC' Revanth, meanwhile, said that the Mahalakshmi scheme, which provides free bus travel for women, was a success. 'Launched within 48 hours of the government taking charge, the initiative has issued over 200 crore zero-fare tickets, saving women passengers an estimated Rs 6,790 crore collectively,' he highlighted. 'This is not just about free travel — it is about financial independence, educational access, and social mobility for women,' he said, adding that the scheme revitalised the state's transport corporation.

CM Revanth Reddy bets big on infra play
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced an ambitious development plan aimed at transforming the state's urban, semi-urban, and rural landscapes through massive infrastructure projects, strategic zoning, and investment-friendly policies. Speaking at the inauguration of the Credai Hyderabad Property Show here at Hitex on Friday, the Chief Minister declared that Hyderabad will stand as one of the state's two primary growth engines, alongside other economic hubs. 'Real estate, construction, and infrastructure are the pillars that will turn Telangana into a truly developed state,' he said, assuring investors of transparent governance, robust legal safeguards, and profitable opportunities. 'Telangana is open for business, and we will protect your investments with robust laws and transparent governance,' he added. Highlighting infrastructure as the key growth driver, the Chief Minister detailed plans for a 300–360-km Regional Ring Road (RRR), complemented by a regional ring rail, industrial corridors, greenfield highways, and port-connectivity projects. He also announced 11 new radial roads linking the RRR to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the creation of a dry port on the Hyderabad–Amaravati Greenfield Highway. The government will pursue metro rail expansion — redesigned to ensure wider last-mile coverage — with proposed extensions to Shamirpet and Medchal. Multi-modal transportation systems will be developed to serve high-density population areas, addressing long-standing traffic issues. Revanth Reddy outlined a structured growth model with three zones: Urban Service Sector (within ORR) – Expansion of IT hubs, the financial district, and metro connectivity; Semi-Urban Industrial Growth (between ORR and RRR) – Development of manufacturing zones and industrial parks; Rural Agricultural Modernization (beyond RRR) – Linking rural produce to urban and global markets through transport and water networks. He stressed that real estate is 'not just land—it is sentiment, opportunity, and business potential,' promising development grounded in infrastructure, trust, and policy clarity. Acknowledging financial challenges inherited from the previous government, the CM revealed that the state has already restructured Rs26,000 crore of loans at 7.5 per cent interest for a 35-year tenure. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend similar restructuring for Rs2 lakh crore in high-interest loans to help Telangana navigate its debt crisis. Responding to criticism over his frequent visits to New Delhi, Revanth Reddy explained that key approvals — including metro expansion and the Musi river rejuvenation — require central government sanction. 'If the central government is in Delhi, I have no option, but to go there,' he said, noting that he now stays in a designated CM bungalow during these visits to expedite clearances. Citing past leaders' landmark contributions — from Quli Qutb Shah's Charminar to N. Chandrababu Naidu's Hi-Tech City and Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's Outer Ring Road — the Chief Minister vowed to create a 'great city' that would be remembered for centuries. 'My name will also be etched in history forever,' he said, pledging energy, youth, and commitment to the state's development.
