Kaizer Chiefs need roughly R70 million to sort out their problems
Kaizer Chiefs have experienced several underwhelming seasons, but a budget of R70 million could change their fortunes for the new season.
Amakhosi finished ninth in the Betway Premiership, accumulating just 32 points in 28 league matches. Despite a disappointing season, the team did not go empty-handed; they ended their 10-year trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup.
With the team scheduled to travel to the Netherlands, head coach Nasreddine Nabi will need to enhance his squad's quality to avoid finishing outside the top eight once again.
The team requires a quality goalkeeper, a left-back, a creative midfielder, and a top striker. While their defence has been lacking, much of the issue can be attributed to the absence of quality midfielders and a solid goalkeeper.
If Chiefs can secure a top defensive midfielder and an exceptional keeper, they will likely concede fewer goals. In terms of attacking options, the midfield has often struggled to provide the creative spark necessary to break down tight defences.
A creative midfielder is essential; although Gaston Sirino can play as a playmaker, he has passed his prime and lacks the necessary consistency. With Ranga Chivaviro gone, Amakhosi must invest millions in securing a top striker. The current options, including Tashreeq Morris and Ashley Du Preez, are not clinical enough in front of goals.
In terms of getting a creative midfielder, top strikers, Kaizer Chiefs should budget R30 million roughly. No quality player will come cheap.

A new general for Chiefs: ‘Gerrard-like' signing arrives in SA
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly welcomed English-based creative midfielder Ethan Chislett to Naturena. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder was born in Durban but spent most of his life in England. His father, Donovan, had a career in the Premier Soccer League in the 70s and 80s. According to FARPost , Chislett landed at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday and was greeted by Amakhosi staff. This week, it was reported that he had signed a two-year deal with the option to extend with the Soweto giants.
