A man is facing charges following an armed and barricaded incident in Timberlea, N.S.
RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of a disturbance at a home on Lakehigh Crescent shortly after midnight on Sunday.
'Investigators learned that a man armed with a knife had gained entry into the home through the front door and threatened to harm himself. When a female occupant, who was known to the man, asked him to leave, he refused and barricaded himself inside,' reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP.
The man exited the home after about three hours of communicating with the RCMP Crisis Negotiation Team and was arrested, according to police.
A 33-year-old woman and three children were inside the home at the time of the incident and police say they were unharmed.
The unnamed man has been charged with two counts of failure to comply with a probation order and mischief.
He has been taken into custody and was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday.

3 people in hospital following apartment fire in North York
Three people have been hospitalized following a fire in North York late Sunday morning, says Toronto fire. The blaze broke out at a highrise residence near Park Home Avenue and Beecroft Road, which is north of Sheppard Avenue West and west of Yonge Street, in Willowdale. Toronto police say they were called to that area just before 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire inside an apartment building. Toronto fire said the fire, which was uipgraded to a two-alarm incident but is now under control, appears to have started in an electrical panel. Some tenants were evacuated as a precaution and TTC buses were brought in to provide shelter, said police, who added that the fire is not 'criminal in nature.' Road closures remain in effect on Park Home Avenue between Yonge Street and Tamworth Road, and on Beecroft Road.

Sarcee Trail and part of Crowchild closed after single vehicle motorcycle collision Sunday
A motorcycle was involved in a single vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in northwest Calgary. A motorcyclist was involved in a single vehicle collision Sunday afternoon that has shut down Sarcee Trail in both directions. Police say the incident took place just before 3 p.m. around 6029 Crowchild Trail N.W. Police say speed is suspected to have been a factor, but it's still under investigation by its traffic unit. Sarcee Trail at Crowchild Trail is closed in both directions, as is eastbound Crowchild Trail, including the eastbound ramp. There was no immediate word about the condition of the motorcyclist.
