Public Works Ministry Launches Comprehensive Maintenance for Six Major Roads in Central Region The Ministry of Public Works and Housing announced the launch of a road maintenance project covering six major routes in the Central Region, with a total cost of JD 2.77 million and an expected implementation period of 120 days. اضافة اعلان The ministry explained on Saturday that work will first begin on the Umm Al-Basateen–Naour road, followed by the Amman–Salt–Al-Saru road, the first phase of the Salt Ring Road, the Royal Dhiban Road, the Wadi Shuaib–King Hussein Bridge road, and finally the Mahis–Badr Roundabout road. The works include removing damaged asphalt layers and replacing them with new ones in line with international standards, addressing hazardous subsidence areas, renewing road markings and safety signs, and carrying out supporting works to ensure pavement durability. These projects, the ministry said, are part of its ongoing strategy to preserve road infrastructure, which serves as a vital artery for economic and social development. Well-maintained roads help facilitate trade, ensure safe mobility, and support productive sectors such as agriculture and tourism in Naour, Salt, and Dhiban. They also reduce future maintenance costs and minimize traffic accidents. To maintain smooth traffic flow, the ministry will implement partial diversions by closing one lane on each road using plastic barriers, while keeping the other lane open. Work will then shift to the second lane once maintenance on the first is completed. The ministry is equipping all work sites with necessary traffic safety measures, including temporary detours, warning signs, and guidance from project teams and Public Security personnel. It also urged road users to exercise caution and comply with safety instructions issued by the ministry and its partners at the Public Security Directorate, noting that project progress updates will be shared through the ministry's official website and social media platforms. --(Petra)

Higher Education Ministry Clarifies Classification Mechanism for Tawjihi Students in Unified Admissions Mu'men Al-Khatib, Director of the Unified Admission Coordination Unit, stated that most current inquiries received by the unit revolve around the classification of General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) students into two categories: 'Current Year' and 'Previous Years.' This classification determines whether a student is eligible to compete for all available university seats or only a limited percentage. اضافة اعلان Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Tuesday, Al-Khatib explained that student classification is based on four main cases: Current-Year Student: A student who passed the Jordanian Tawjihi for the first time this year, achieved at least 50% in all subjects, and earned a general average of no less than 65% is considered a "current-year student" and is eligible to compete for 100% of university seats. Previous-Year Student (Improving Scores): A student who passed Tawjihi in previous years and then retook some subjects to raise their average is classified as a "previous-years student" and may compete for only 5% of available seats. Supplementary Exam Case: A student who first passed the Tawjihi in the most recent supplementary session, then retook some subjects in the current summer session, will be classified based on the certificate used for university admission: If applying with the supplementary session results → Current-Year Student If applying with the summer session results (after retaking exams) → Previous-Year Student Al-Khatib stressed the importance of accurately entering the exam seat number, session, and selecting the certificate upon which the student wishes to compete. Full Retake or Branch Change: A student who retakes all Tawjihi subjects or switches academic branches is considered a current-year student and is eligible to compete for 100% of seats. — Petra

Over 2,700 new voluntary subscribers join SSC in H1 2025
Ammon News - The Social Security Corporation (SSC) reported that 2,783 people subscribed voluntarily for the first time during the first half of this year, bringing the total number of active voluntary subscribers to 107,279 by the end of the same period. In a response to inquiries by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the SSC explained that voluntary subscription is an important mechanism for individuals who are not compulsorily covered to complete their insurance rights. The program is available under specific conditions, including that the applicant must be Jordanian, aged between 16 and 60 for men or 55 for women when applying for the first time, not compulsorily insured through any job, and must not have received any social security benefits such as old-age pension, early retirement, lump-sum compensation, or total or partial disability benefits. The SSC noted that this option targets broad segments of society, especially expatriate Jordanians, housewives, and insured individuals who have left their jobs and need to complete the required contributions to qualify for a future retirement pension. Voluntary subscribers are covered under old-age, disability, and death insurance, and the same provisions apply to them as to compulsory subscribers. They must pay a monthly contribution of 17.5% of their declared insured wage, which must not be less than JD 290. The SSC added that applications can be submitted electronically via its official website, mobile application, or the government's Sanad app, with no documents required. Payments can be made through eFAWATEERcom, exchange offices, or banks.
