Michigan football loses 4-star CB target to rival school for 2026 recruiting class
Michigan football is set to hold its final official visit weekend of the late spring, early summer, and the Wolverines are hoping that it pays dividends. With three weekends preceding, the maize and blue knocked it out of the park with some prospects, but with others, perhaps they fell a little short.
The Wolverines currently have one cornerback committed to the 2026 class in Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star Brody Jennings, but there are a handful of other corners that the maize and blue have ben in strong contention for. Michigan is hosting Carrollton (Ga.) four-star corner Dorian Barney this weekend, and appears to be in the lead for Frisco (Tx.) Panther Creek four-star Donovan Webb. But perhaps atop the wish list was Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield four-star Khary Adams.

Ranked the No. 36 player in the country according to 247Sports, Adams had long appeared to be strongly considering Michigan football, Penn State, and Oregon. But ultimately, Notre Dame ended up winning out, as Adams pledged to the Irish on Friday.
With Adams off the board, the Wolverines will likely work extra hard to keep Jennings in the fold -- which will be a challenge given that he's being highly pursued by the Florida schools and others within the SEC-ACC footprint. Webb could be the second addition, and he's starting to trend towards the Wolverines since his visit.

British and Irish Lions lose their Australia tour warmup to Argentina
DUBLIN (AP) — First, the good news for the British and Irish Lions: They didn't appear to suffer any tour-ending injuries against Argentina on Friday. The bad news: They lost to Argentina 28-24 in the warmup to their nine-game tour of Australia. The result, humbling for now, will be regarded as a minor setback, maybe even an inspiration, if the Lions go on and win the three-test series against the Wallabies. The Lions led the Pumas for only 12 minutes in the entire match and had two prime attacking chances in the last four minutes. But their lineout maul was stopped in its tracks, then a Lions penalty in front of the posts was overturned due to a neck roll by Tadhg Beirne. 'We weren't as consistent as we would have liked to be. We only showed glimmers of what we can do,' Lions captain Maro Itoje told broadcaster Sky Sports. 'When we were on it, we looked good, we just need to do it more consistently. Argentina showed us where we are lacking. I am happy we had a hard-fought game. We live and learn. This is only match one.' Despite a training camp in Portugal that was meant to help cement combinations, and nine English starters, the Lions still looked less cohesive and determined than Argentina, which was missing a dozen front-liners and had only two proper training runs. The Pumas beat the Lions for the first time in a history between them that goes back to 1910. They also warmed up the 2005 Lions in Cardiff, and suffered heartbreak when Jonny Wilkinson landed a penalty in the 87th minute for a 25-25 draw. No draw this time. The Pumas were ruthless with their chances, and matched the Lions with three tries. Two tries from inside their own 22 were the game's highlights. The Lions enjoyed majority possession, had the better scrum, and gave away only five penalties but they forced too many passes and the Pumas defense was outstanding. 'You can't win a test with that error rate,' Lions coach Andy Farrell said. "We lost enough balls in that game for a full tour, throwing balls that weren't on. They were hungrier than us with the ball on the ground. 'There was good and bad throughout. We were just a little bit off, I take responsibility for that. I hope we are better off for that.' The Lions were nowhere near their test side. Few players from last weekend's finals of the English Premiership and United Rugby Championship were involved, and only six of the 16 Irish players. But the Pumas were understrength, too, for a match outside the test window. Argentina scored the first points, a Tomas Albornoz penalty, and the first try, finished by wing Ignacio Mendy from an Albornoz miss-out pass to fullback Santiago Carreras in a gap. Meanwhile, the Lions had two tries in the first quarter ruled out for knock-ons but Bundee Aki finally got their first touchdown when he busted through three defenders. The second quarter was all Argentina. Albornoz kicked two more penalties and converted his own injury-time try for 21-10. The Lions didn't protect ruck ball in the Argentina 22 and Rodrigo Isgro and Carreras set Albornoz away in an 80-meter counterattack. The Lions rubbed out the deficit thanks to the forwards. A penalty try from a lineout maul also sent Pumas prop Mayco Vivas to the sin-bin, and the Lions used the man advantage to give Beirne a converted try. But moments later, an Isgro aerial catch started a sweeping counterattack involving Albornoz, No. 8 Joaquin Oviedo, debut starter Justo Piccardo and Matias Moroni that was finished by a swan dive from Santiago Cordero. Even with 22 minutes left, the Lions could not find a reply. ___

Auburn's Ike Irish earns first-team All-America honors from Baseball America
Ike Irish earns another All-American nod, this time from Baseball America Ike Irish had a season to remember in 2025, and it is being honored with another All-American nod. Baseball America included Irish on its first team All-American squad, which is his third of the season. He was previously honored by Perfect Game and the American Baseball Coaches Association for his amazing season that saw him lead the team in seven statistical categories. Irish is also a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, which is awarded to the best player in college baseball, as well as the Golden Spikes Award, which goes to the best amateur player in the United States. Irish experienced the best season of his career during the 2025 season. He led the team in seven categories including average (.364), on-base percentage (.469), slugging percentage (.710), runs (65), hits (78), home runs (19) and total bases (152). He recorded one fewer RBI than Cooper McMurray (58) for the team lead, and he finished third in stolen bases behind Bristol Carter (14) and Cade Belyeu (12). In addition to his team-leading stats, he set career-highs in several areas such as runs, total bases, home runs, walks, hit by pitch, stolen bases, batting average, and slugging percentage. The status of Irish's return is questionable. Irish, a junior, is receiving first-round projections from major mock drafts including those from The Athletic and USA TODAY. If he were to elect to depart, he will leave Auburn with 39 home runs, 48 doubles, 19 stolen bases, and a batting average of .350. Syracuse fans have been teased a bit over the last few years, especially the ones who remember a time when the program was a Big East powerhouse. And yes, there was a time in the late 1980s when Syracuse was in the national championship discussion - Don McPherson is still one of my favorite college quarterbacks ever. But that was a long, long time now the Orange fans got to have a whole lot of fun last year under head coach Fran Brown. So, can Syracuse win on a regular basis, or was that just a one-off? Nine of the 13 games last season were decided by one score, and that was with as light an ACC slate as reasonably possible. This year, swap out Ohio with Tennessee to open the season. Take out a trip to UNLV and add a date at Notre no trip to Cal, but there's a date at Clemson. There's no game against Stanford, but there's a road trip to SMU. And this time around, the Miami game is in Hard be prepared. Syracuse probably won't have as good a season, but it won't necessarily mean it'll be a step Brown appears to be a keeper who'll make winning a regular thing.
