Iconic ‘90s Rock Band Plays Classic Songs for First Time in Decades
Iconic '90s Rock Band Plays Classic Songs for First Time in Decades originally appeared on Parade.
Even though Trent Reznor is a two-time Academy Award-winning composer, the 60-year-old still has some of that industrial angst that propelled him to rock greatness as the leader of Nine Inch Nails. And at the kickoff show for the band's Peel It Back tour, Reznor and crew revisited some of NIN's songs that made them legends in the 1990s, including some that haven't been played in decades.
Reznor formed the group in 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio. Their debut album, 1989's Pretty Hate Machine, resonated with Gen X listeners (and MTV viewers who tuned in to videos for 'Head Like A Hole' and 'Down in It'). The band then achieved unprecedented mainstream success in '94 with their second album, The Downward Spiral. The critically acclaimed LP spawned 'Closer,' arguably Nine Inch Nails' most well-known song.
NIN revisited another Downward Spiral classic at the start of their June 15 concert at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. After playing 'Right Where It Belongs' (from With Teeth) that the band mixed with 'Somewhat Damaged (from The Fragile), Nine Inch Nails segued into 'Ruiner' and 'Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now).'
It was the first time that the band played any of these songs live since 2009, according to Setlist.fm.
The night also featured an appearance from Boys Noize, a German dance producer who's opening for NIN on the Peel It Back tour. Boys Noise also remixed Renzor and Atticus Ross' Challengers score, according to Stereogum.
The producer accompanied the band in performances of 'Vessel' and 'Came Back Haunted,' as well as 'Parasite' – from Reznor and Ross's side-project, How To Destroy Angels.
The Peel It Back Tour is Nine Inch Nails' first major tour since 2022. The opening night's performance featured classic NIN tracks, including 'Reptile,' 'Wish,' 'March of the Pigs,' and 'I'm Afraid of Americans,' the song that Reznor did with David Bowie.
Recently, Reznor shared a personal memory of the late music icon, recalling a shocking moment when Bowie attended one of Nine Inch Nails' shows in 1995. The admission left fans reeling. 'What a moment,' one remarked.Iconic '90s Rock Band Plays Classic Songs for First Time in Decades first appeared on Parade on Jun 16, 2025

Brad Pitt reportedly resigned to permanently cutting ties with 2 of his kids
Over the past year, it's been reported that Brad Pitt has become estranged from all six of his children following his bitter, nine-years-long divorce battle with their mother, Angelina Jolie. A new report in the Daily Mail said the 61-year-old 'F1' star still holds out hope for a reconciliation with some of his children but that he's resigned to never having a relationship with his two oldest sons, Maddox and Pax. Pitt has long been known to be estranged from 23-year-old Maddox, according to reports. Now, when it comes to 21-year-old Pax, a source has told the Daily Mail: 'Brad honestly considers his relationship with Pax unfixable.' Incidentally, the two young men both were first adopted by Jolie from Cambodia and Vietnam, respectively, before Pitt legally signed on to be their father, early in his relationship with his ex-wife. In 2023, the Daily Mail reported that Pax, as a 16-year-old, slammed Pitt on his private Instagram account in 2020, calling his adopted father 'an awful human being' after the actor won an Academy Award for his performance in 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.' Pax also called his father 'a terrible and despicable person' who makes the youngest of his six children 'tremble with fear.' Pitt's issues with Pax came more into focus last summer when the young man was hospitalized with a reported head injury after crashing his electric bicycle into a car on a busy Los Angeles street. His mother rushed to the hospital to be by her son's side, Page Six reported at the time. But Pitt reportedly stayed away or was shut out. At the time of the accident, Pax wasn't wearing a helmet, and it was reported that he often didn't wear a helmet and had been involved in other accidents. The implication that Pax might be dealing with some issues came up again last month when he was photographed by the paparazzi in the early morning hours, stumbling out of the famed Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles, with a dazed grin and needing to be held up by friends, the Daily Mail reported. The group reported headed to a strip club in the Hollywood Hills, eventually leaving at 2:30 a.m. The photos didn't go unnoticed by Pitt's camp, the Daily Mail said. But a source said that Pitt has 'washed his hands of Pax's drama.' The actor 'has zero concern with what Pax does or doesn't do. [Pax's] actions reflect who he is.' Pitt's estrangement from Maddox, and possibly some of his other children, reportedly goes back to September 2016, when the actor allegedly drank too much and became angry and physical with Jolie, Maddox and the other children during a private plane flight from France to Los Angeles. That altercation prompted Jolie to file for divorce and led to Pitt being investigated by the FBI and Child Protective Services. Pitt denied ever being abusive to his children, and no criminal charges were ever filed. It also was reported last summer that Pitt also has 'virtually no contact' with his oldest daughter, Zahara, 20. Like Maddox and Pax, Zahara also initially adopted by Jolie, in her case from Ethiopia when she was seven months old. She's now a student at Spelman College, a historically Black women's liberal arts college in Atlanta, Georgia. Jolie and Pitt also have three biological children,19-year-old daughter Shiloh and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Last summer, Shiloh hired an attorney to file a legal petition to formally drop Pitt's last name from her own so that she would henceforth be known as Shiloh Jolie, instead of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. Her decision to drop Pitt's last name reportedly left him 'upset' because he 'never felt more joy than when she was born,' a source told People magazine last year. Another source told In Touch Weekly that Pitt, who once had a close relationship with Shiloh, was 'blindsided' and 'heartbroken' by her decision to drop his last name. When all the children were young, they used the surname Jolie-Pitt. But Maddox reportedly started the trend of not using Pitt's last name. Zahara followed up in 2023 by identifying herself as 'Zahara Marley Jolie' when she pledged to Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in Atlanta. Vivienne also goes by the surname Jolie, as she revealed when she was credited as 'Vivienne Jolie' in the May 2024 Playbill for 'The Outsiders,' a Broadway show that she helped her mother produce and which is based on the classic S.E. Hinton teen novel. ___ © #YR@ MediaNews Group, Inc. Distributed by Tribune Content Agency, LLC.

Jack Wagner Explains Decision to Live in Separate Homes from New Wife Michelle Wolf: 'Let's Not Rock the Boat'
Jack Wagner — who is set to return to The Bold and the Beautiful — explained why he and new Michelle Wolf live in separate homes "We're both super comfortable in our places and going back and forth, and so we've decided, let's not rock the boat and sell this and sell that and try to find something," he said Wagner and Wolf tied the knot in an intimate ceremony last monthJack Wagner and his new wife Michelle Wolf aren't upsetting the applecart after getting married last month. The 65-year-old actor — who is set to return to The Bold and the Beautiful — revealed he and the singer-songwriter have no plans to move in together after tying the knot in an intimate ceremony on May 31. 'It's an adjustment in terms of my schedule, for sure, right?' he told Parade. 'And Michelle's a singer, and she has an R&B rock band, so she's just a monster singer. We're able to make it work.' However, he admitted the newlyweds 'haven't really changed anything' — including finding a shared home. 'It's kind of cool, you know? She has her place. I still have mine,' he explained. 'We're both super comfortable in our places and going back and forth, and so we've decided, let's not rock the boat and sell this and sell that and try to find something.' 'We take a couple nights off, and then we trade off who's going to be where because I think we both know that the older we are, it's nice to have a little space,' he shared. 'Not too much, but it's okay! It works.' Wagner previously opened up to PEOPLE about the pair's "private" ceremony, which was attended by "about 40" of their closest friends and family members, plus "a DJ." He noted that he enjoyed that the wedding was "rather small and intimate." "[It was] something that was just ours, with a group that we selected," he added. "It was just so cool that it was just a big kind of funfest that doesn't happen very often in life where everybody lets loose," he added. "And it was one of those days where that happens. So really blessed to just have that sort of window of celebration you don't get to have very often." Alongside a group of wedding photos — which featured Wagner's son Peter, whom he shares with ex-wife Kristina, and Wolf's daughter, Ornella, in attendance — Wolf wrote: "We did it!!!!!! MARRIED in front of our little family!! #MrAndMrs ♥️♥️♥️ 💃🕺." Wagner and Wolf began dating in January 2021 and became Instagram official later that year. At the time, Wolf shared a clip of Wagner filming the pair in front of a mirror as they embraced. She wrote over the clip, "My man ❤️," and added in the caption, "Love. ❤️."
