TNT gets Jordan Heading, Converge receives Mikey Williams

GMA Network02-06-2025
It's official: Jordan Heading is going to TNT, while Mikey Williams will be sent to Converge.
The PBA on Monday approved the said trade.
Heading has been with Converge since 2024, but has not played in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup due to a back injury. Heading is expected to help TNT in its Grand Slam bid, especially with Jayson Castro out due to injury.
Williams, meanwhile, has not played in the PBA since April 2023 when TNT won the Governors' Cup then. However, he played with the Strong Group Athletics last January in the Dubai International Basketball Championship.
Rumors and reports of the said trade surfaced last week as Heading was seen watching a TNT game against Terrafirma last May 28.

The mixed-doubles field at the U.S. Open, which begins next month in New York, will be a star-studded event. The United States Tennis Association announced Tuesday the eight teams receiving direct entries into the tournament, as well as six wild-card entrants. Two more teams will take part as wild cards. Venus Williams, 45, received a wild-card entry and will play with big-serving American Reilly Opelka. After becoming the oldest player to win a WTA Tour singles match in 21 years, she lost in the second round in Washington to Magdalena Frech of Poland. The mixed-doubles competition in New York will feature most of the men and women ranked in the Top 10. The 16 mixed-double pairs will be vying for a $1 million first prize. These top players will not be fitting mixed doubles in with their singles play. Mixed-doubles matches will take place over two days, Aug. 19 and 20, before play in the main draw begins. Cheers! San Miguel's Tiongson, Cahilig, Rosales, Calma celebrate first PBA title

It took them a while, but finally, they can call themselves PBA champions. Last Friday, Juami Tiongson, Andreas Cahilig, Kris Rosales, and JM Calma relished their first title as the San Miguel Beermen defeated TNT in Game 6 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals. Tiongson, Cahilig, and Rosales have been in the PBA for quite a while. Tiongson was drafted in 2014, while Rosales made his PBA debut in 2016. Cahilig, meanwhile, entered the league in 2017. "It means more to me. Obviously, with everything I went through in my career. Baka nung nag-start ang career ko, nawala ako sa PBA," Tiongson said. "I made it back and glory to God, and hopefully, win more championships," he added. ? Cahilig, who was also Tiongson's teammate back in Terrafirma, echoed the same sentiment. "It feels very good, I'm very happy. It's been a hard couple of years but it finally paid out," he said. Although Cahilig was able to play in two games only because of his hyperextended knee, the Filipino-Swedish big man said he is now more motivated after winning his first title. "I'm very hungry to play in the finals again," he added. Andreas Cahilig also won his first title @gmasportsph — JK Carandang (@jk_carandang) July 25, 2025 Rosales, meanwhile, won his first title against his former team TNT. "It's been like 10 years, four or five teams, so this one means a lot to me," Rosales said. "This is one of my goals in my career and I'm able to achieve it with San Miguel." "There's a lot of stuff that I did behind the scenes to get to this point and for me to get this, it really means a lot," Rosales said, especially after revealing he almost retired during the pandemic. "It's really dear to my heart and hopefully I can get some more." ? Kris Rosales, also a first time champion @gmasportsph — JK Carandang (@jk_carandang) July 25, 2025 Calma, while relatively new in the league being drafted in 2022, said this is the first trophy in his career. "Unang-una, sobrang saya, di mo ma-express 'yung feeling, sobrang sarap," the former San Sebastian big man said. "First time ko rin mag-champion sa career ko. Thank you sa San Miguel, binigyan ako ng opportunity para mag-champion." ? Brownlee, Thompson shocked by LA Tenorio's move to Magnolia

For the longest time, LA Tenorio stood as one of Barangay Ginebra's icons in the PBA. His sudden move to take over as Magnolia head coach surprised not only the fans, but also longtime teammates like Justin Brownlee and Scottie Thompson. The trio played together — and won multiple titles — for several PBA seasons, a stretch that also saw them at the heart of the iconic Manila Clasico rivalry between Ginebra and Magnolia. But next season, they will find themselves on opposite sides of the court with Tenorio now the lead shot-caller for the Hotshots. "Actually, I was totally shocked nung narinig ko. 'Di ko alam eh, kasi 'yung pag transition ko sa PBA, si Kuya LA 'yung nag guide sa akin," Thompson, who had been teammates with Tenorio ever since he was drafted back in 2015, said. "For sure, 'di kami sanay na nandoon siya sa kabila. But gano'n talaga 'yung buhay dito sa PBA, we just have to keep on moving forward." Resident Ginebra import Justin Brownlee was also stunned, admitting he was surprised to learn that Tenorio, whom he considered a 'second coach' on the court, was taking over for their biggest rival. "I just heard that and I can't believe that, man. But man, like what I told earlier when I was told of the news, to be honest, my nine years in the Philippines playing for Ginebra, I feel like LA has been my second coach on the floor with obviously, Tim (Cone) and the coaching staff," Brownlee said. "Obviously, Magnolia is Ginebra's biggest rival and yeah, I can't wait to see what Manila Clasico is gonna be like, especially with LA now on the other side." —JMB, GMA Integrated News
