Emmerdale's Matthew Wolfenden hints at return to ITV soap
His character left the village after he found out his son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) was having a secret romance with his ex-girlfriend Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins).
It was reported at the time that Wolfenden's exit was due to him 'not getting any gritty storylines' and that his next career move would be in theatre, as he went on to star as Buddy in Elf The Musical that Christmas.
But now, the 45-year-old has hinted at a return to the soap following the show's dramatic storylines in recent weeks.
Matthew said that a possible storyline would be David dealing with the aftermath of the death of his former partner Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), who died following the tragic limo crash in February.
Matthew told Inside Soap magazine: "I would definitely go back to 'Emmerdale'.
"The big pull would have been to revisit the relationship again with Leyla."
Next week: Sarah battles the anxiety of a looming cancer diagnosis, Moira's farm is under threat, and will Belle unravel John's secrets?

Matthew and Roxy, 42, became close friends on the set of Emmerdale and currently work together on their podcast 'Celebrity Side Hustles'.
Matthew's exit in 2023 also came after his then wife Charley Webb, who played Debbie Dingle, had also left the soap after 21 years in 2021.

The pair were married off-screen for five years and have three children together. They announced their split in late 2023.
Speaking at the time, Matthew said: 'I'm so nervous about leaving Emmerdale, but almost two decades, it feels like the right time.
'The door's left open, they're not killing me off. Who knows, I might be back. Yeah, but we will see."

Unexpected disappearance in Coronation Street as Kit's loved ones grow concerned
Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) causes concern in Coronation Street soon, as he disappears hours before Craig Tinker's (Colson Smith) memorial. The local copper was killed a few weeks ago by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton). Wanting to prove himself to his colleague, Craig headed off to attend a distress call, but then ended up getting attacked by Mick, who hit him with a cricket bat. Craig died in hospital as a result of his injuries. Towards the end of the week, Kit faced another nightmare when Mick held Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) hostage. In upcoming episodes, an already guilt ridden Kit reveals to Lisa (Vicky Myers) that Craig's family want him to make a speech at the memorial. Nick Knowles' wild love life as he marries fianceé 27-years his junior today
Nick Knowles is set to wed his 33-year-old fiancée Katie Dadzie today after he popped the question last year, but the DIY SOS presenter has a chequered romantic history Nick Knowles, known for his turbulent love life over the years, is set to tie the knot to his match in Katie Dadzie, a 34-year-old businesswoman and mother of two. Despite their 27-year age difference, the former I'm A Me Out Of Here! star, who first met Katie in 2019, are smitten, and they're set to say their 'I do's' today. The 62-year-old, who is renowned for his romantic escapades as he is for his presenting prowess on BBC's DIY SOS, proposed to Katie in July 2024 when the pair had been an item for nearly three years, having initially got together in 2021. The couple are due to tie the knot today in a lavish six-figure ceremony in Essex. Their paths first crossed when Katie's daughters became friends with Nick's youngest son Eddie, 9, at a play centre. Since then, the couple has been open about their affection for each other. Last year, they caused a stir when they posed together for a photo while Katie modelled some designer lingerie. The image, which featured Katie in a scanty light pink number and Nick assisting to 'straighten the straps', was part of a collection of photos Katie posted for Nick's 61st birthday. Katie, who is a proud mum-of-two, had to defend the significant age gap between her and Nick. However, she isn't the first younger woman that the star has been associated with. Nick, a proud father to four children from three different women, seems to have a penchant for younger partners. Back in 2019, Nick showed a penchant for younger women when he was seen getting close to a woman 30 years his junior. Identified as 26-year-old PR exec Emily Hallinan, the pair were seen on a date at a dazzling West End show. The year before, rumours circulated that the TV host Nick had started seeing marketing executive Rebecca Kearns, who is also reportedly over 30 years younger than him. After splitting from Rebecca, Nick was photographed getting cosy with Emmerdale's Gemma Oaten following an evening at the TV Choice Awards in September 2016. However, these pictures triggered their breakup, with Gemma recounting the harsh reality: "One Sunday morning we were lying in bed and all these texts came through about us being photographed together. In an instant he completely changed. It was all about him and how it was going to affect his family. It was really cruel as he said it didn't matter for me. I felt sick." She recounted: "I said, 'Do you want to throw away what we have? We have done nothing wrong'. But he just dropped me like a ton of bricks. I thought it was a real relationship and he wasn't afraid to let others know." Nick was swiftly seen on multiple outings with ex-TOWIE star Pascal Craymer, 31 at the time, who confirmed their budding romance: "He's so lovely. We're seeing how it goes. He gets portrayed badly but he's a nice guy." Yet, when he dismissed the notion that they were an item, Pascal stood her ground, claiming he was in the throes of a "mid-life crisis". Nick's marital journey began with his first wife Gillian in 1995, which lasted until 2000 and blessed them with two children, Tuesday and Charlie. Following that, his relationship with beauty therapist Paula Beckett-Vass resulted in a son named Tyrian-J. In 2000, he started a three-year fling with presenter Suzi Perry. Tying the knot with Jessica Moore – 26 years his junior – he fathered a son named Eddie before their 2016 separation. Nick hasn't shied away from admitting his reluctance for deep commitment, confessing in 2008: "My relationships have pretty much followed a pattern. They last six months and start off with me explaining that I work a lot, so will have commitment issues. The women involved agree that that is fine, then after a month I get a phone call saying, 'This isn't on'. After three months we split up, then get back together. After five, there's another tussle. At six it's all off." The DIY SOS host has confessed to facing challenges in his family life, admitting he wasn't often present when his older children were growing up. "It's the most difficult thing in modern life to weigh up the amount you work to improve their lifestyles versus missing your children grow up. "I'm not sure I got that right with my older children, I was probably away too much. So I'm making a greater effort now with my eight-year-old," he revealed, adding: "Having said that, my older children are all doing great and are very happy." Nick went on to say: "Having an eight-year-old son at the age of 60 is the most wonderful thing in the world. It keeps you young, makes you see the world through new eyes. "It reminds you of your own fascination with the world and all there is to see and do. We have a map of the world in his bedroom, and before bedtime we go through and he names four countries in each continent. I want him to know there's a big world out there, to travel and meet people the way I have, because it gives you a much greater understanding of humankind."

Emmerdale star teases soap crossover with real-life Coronation Street siblings
Emmerdale actress Amelia Flanagan addressed whether it's possible her character will feature in scenes with her real-life Coronation Street brother and sister amid a crossover There's a soap crossover on the way, and one Emmerdale star is hopeful it will mean she gets to team up with her real-life Coronation Street siblings. Amelia Flanagan spoke exclusively to The Mirror about her excitement for the big soap twist, confirmed by ITV recently. With Amelia, who plays April Windsor on the soap, having siblings on Corrie it could well mean they feature in scenes together for the first time ever. Nothing has been revealed yet in terms of which characters from both soaps will be in the episodes, but we know at least one star from each show will interact. With talks of a public vote, it's not known who will be in those scenes. With Amelia hoping to film with her her fellow soap stars and brother and sister William and Isabella Flanagan in what would be an epic opportunity for the talented siblings, could we see the trio on the same episode at the same time? Amelia certainly would love to see it happen, with fans also questioning whether they might get the go ahead. Amelia told us at The British Soap Awards 2025: "I think everything is still in the pipeline at the moment, so we will have to watch this space and see what happens. It would be brilliant to explore that crossover because there's three of us in the soaps. "It would be incredible, and it's very exciting. So fingers crossed we get some scenes together. It's never been done before, the crossover, and so much could happen." At the awards, Amelia burst into tears as she was awarded the trophy for Best Young Performer, a category her younger brother William was also nominated for in his role as Corrie's Joseph Brown. William gave his sister a standing ovation and applauded her when the result came in. In a sweet moment she supported him right back, mentioning him in her winners speech. Sobbing as she clutched the award, she told the audience: "This means everything. I just want to say, my little brother who I love so much." Amelia went on to thank everyone at Emmerdale, before concluding with tears in her eyes: "Thank you so much, this means the world to me." The siblings later hung out together and with their co-stars at the afterparty, also joined by their parents. Amelia also spoke to us about what's ahead for her character after a huge year on the show. With a return on the cards for character Dylan Penders, Amelia told us: "April has had an incredibly tough year with what she has been through, with the pregnancy and the homelessness storyline. April and Dylan didn't leave things on the best terms, but I think what is important now is that he's back. "Who knows what will happen. It will be great to explore that relationship further, I think fans want to see that which is great." Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
