Outlander stars dine out at Edinburgh restaurant and rave about 'amazing' meal

Outlander stars John Hunter Bell and Charles Vandervaart dined out at The Kitchin in Edinburgh and were very impressed with the food.
Two Outlander stars have been snapped in one of Edinburgh's most popular restaurants after popping in for a bite to eat. John Hunter Bell and Charles Vandervaart dined at The Kitchin in the Capital this week.

Bell plays 'Young Ian' Murray in Outlander as well as Bain in two of the Hobbit films and Charles Vandervaart is best known for his portrayal of William Ransom in season seven on the show. Staff members at the Michelin-starred restaurant in Leith were delighted to host the stars and shared an image to social media of owner Tom Kitchin with the pair.

Sharing a post to social media, the restaurant wrote: "It's always special to welcome members of the Outlander family to the restaurants." Both actors replied to the Instagram snap as Charles commented, saying: "Amazing time! Thanks for having us!"

Meanwhile, John added: "Out of this world!"
The eatery is popular among famous faces with John and Charles not being the first of the Outlander cast to visit The Kitchin.
Back in October 2023, the Michelin-star establishment welcomed Duncan Lacroix, who plays Murtagh Fraser in the series.
Sam Heughan, who plays the iconic Jamie Fraser in the show, also dined out at the eatery in 2024.

The Kitchin appears to be a favourite among the Outlander cast as Sam even returned once more earlier this year to mark his 45th birthday on April 30.
Outlander fans are still awaiting the eighth and final season of the Starz show which is set to air in late 2025 or early 2026.
The show recently announced its prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood which will air on August 8 2025.

However, while fans await the grand finale, it's good to see the OG Outlander cast are still as tight as ever.
Many of the cast members reunited at Richard Rankin's wedding to Sammie Russell in South Queensferry last week.
John Bell was among the attendees, as well as Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Lauren Lyle, Joey Phillips, Izzy Meikle-Small, Caitlin O'Ryan, Paul Gorman and Jamie Roy.

Another Outlander reunion could be on the cards at The Kitchin once the final season airs as many of the stars have already made their love for it clear.
Tom Kitchin, owner and founder of The Kitchin, also runs The Scran & Scallie in Edinburgh and Bonnie Badger in Gullane.
Another one of his businesses, Kora, previously on Bruntsfield Place, closed earlier this year.
The Kitchin, located at 78 Commercial Quay in Leith, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm-2.30pm and 6pm-10pm.

Teen girl suffers horror head injury after 'freak accident' on fairground ride

Police confirmed they are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) following the incident on Saturday night. A teenage girl has been left with potentially life-changing head injuries after her hair became trapped on a ride at a popular fair. ‌ The 18-year-old was rushed to hospital following the incident at the Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show around 10.50pm on Saturday, reports the Mirror. ‌ Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed they are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as part of the investigation. ‌ A woman who was at the scene said she helped give first aid to the stricken teen as panic broke out. She said: 'One of the girl's friends came down and said how serious it was and some of us offered assistance. It's very shocking it could happen on a fairground ride that young children go on. This must never happen again." Speaking earlier today, he added: 'Approximately 50 people had been on the ride before the 18-year-old, and there were no issues. 'The ride is 20 years old but it had been tested that day. This was a freak accident. Somehow, the girl's hair got caught and she could not grab on to the handrails. ‌ 'Nobody wants to hurt anyone, and we are a family business. Last night was very upsetting, especially for the man who owns the ride. Safety is our priority, and we sympathise with the girl and her parents." A post on the show's Facebook page on Sunday insisted: 'Good morning from day three of the show. Despite what you may have read or seen online, we are open and look forward to seeing you all!" The ride has been shut down while police and safety inspectors investigate.

Coronation Street's Helen Flanagan shows off painful 'black eye' after surgery

Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan - who played Rosie Webster on the ITV soap - showed off her 'black eye' after undergoing cosmetic surgery Helen Flanagan has shown off her 'black eyes' after undergoing cosmetic surgery. The Coronation Street star - who played Rosie Webster in the ITV soap - was seen sporting some bruising around her eye in a new post on social media. ‌ The Corrie star has been open about the surgery she has undergone, which at times she has been heavily criticised for. She opened up in 2022 about undergoing a breast enhancement and said it really helped her to get her confidence back. ‌ Speaking a few years back, she said of her decision: "I was quite open here on Instagram in January about my recent boob job. This was something I wanted to do for a really long time and by doing so I've really got my confidence back. ‌ "I breastfed in total for three years. Matilda I fed for eight months. Delilah I fed for 13 months. Charlie I fed for 14 months. As soon as I finished my breastfeeding journey with Charlie I wanted to get them done pretty much straight away. I felt like you could tie them in a bow. I had to wait though for six months after feeding and then I went for it in January." She added: "I don't regret one second of my breastfeeding journeys they were precious times. I was a little bit nervous I was worried they were going to be too big for my frame but they are so perfect for me and so in proportion." ‌ As part of her latest treatment, Helen underwent polynucleotide cosmetic facial surgery in her latest procedure. It is a type of cosmetic surgery, which uses DNA fragments to help to rejuvenate and revitalise the skin. It gives a youthful and radiant complexion but can initially cause redness, swelling and bruising where they are injected. In 2019, Helen also decided to have Botox and explained how it has made her feel more confident. ‌ "I felt super tired from having Delilah and I wanted to feel fresher and more confident in myself. I would take pictures on my phone with the kids and would be shocked how much older I looked where in my head I still feel like I'm 20," she said. "I'm so happy with my Botox and if you're like me and still want to look 23, then it's a good idea." Just a few weeks ago, Helen recalled how she was verbally abused by a man on the Tube for standing up for another woman. She explained how the woman had been harassed by the man and when she stood up for the woman, she was verbally abused too. "He was really awful and I actually felt really intimidated, and I felt like I couldn't say much to him because I did feel really intimidated by him. He said to me, it was like the weirdest thing he could have said, 'You've got so much Botox in your forehead', and I was sat there with an iced coffee, and he was like, 'I'm surprised you can even drink through a straw,'" she recalled.

Almost 1000 people gather in Edinburgh to watch man fold fitted sheet

A stand-up comedian from New Zealand, Dan Boerman, has gone viral on social media after he was able to draw a crowd of hundreds of people to watch him successfully fold a fitted sheet at the top of Calton Hill on Friday. The UK-based performer said it was probably the 'craziest marketing stunt' of his career as videos circulating on social media show droves of people cheering Boerman on as he completed the task. Explaining why he decided to pull the stunt, Boerman said that he didn't have thousands of dollars to promote his show at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival and had to 'think outside the box' to advertise it. READ MORE: 'The welcome he deserves': TikToker goes viral praising National's Trump front page Along with the short video, which has raked up almost 15,000 likes on Instagram alone, Boerman said: 'Yesterday I summoned almost a 1000 people to the top of Calton Hill to watch me fold a fitted sheet in what was probably the craziest marketing stunt of my career. 'Somebody who legally wasn't me put these fliers all around town. 'Word began to spread in group chats and all across social media. 'By the time of the event, nearly 1000 people showed up to watch the action take place. 'If you don't have rich parents and thousands of dollars for PR, sometimes you just got to think outside the box and everyone there was super excited and had a great time.' In another post on Instagram, the comedian wrote that several other people attempted to fold the sheet, with varying success. He also thanked the hundreds of people who gathered for creating a 'fun' atmosphere. Boerman wrote: 'A couple punters from the crowd stepped forward to try themselves. 'One crushed it. One… gave it an honest go. 'Thank you so much to everyone who came through today. Such a fun atmosphere.' The Dan Boerman Folds a Fitted Sheet on His Own show will be running at The Apex Conference Center in the capital from August 1 to 25 at 2pm each day. The self-proclaimed 'high-energy and chaotic Kiwi comedy' describes his hour-long show as a love letter to 'our better halves and/or our situationships,' which you can find tickets for here. The comedian said he has returned to the festival this year after selling out his shows in Edinburgh last year and has just returned to the UK after touring Melbourne and New Zealand.
