BBC Breakfast's Nina Warhurst hits back as trolls criticise her appearance

BBC News presenter Nina Warhurst has hit back at a viewer's unsolicited critique regarding her accent and wardrobe choices after she was named as cover for Naga Munchetty
BBC News presenter Nina Warhurst has clapped back at a viewer's unasked-for critique of her accent and wardrobe. Recently stepping up to present BBC 's News at One and occasionally appearing on BBC Breakfast, Nina responded to a harsh comment that emerged online.
Nina shared the viewer's message on Instagram. The comment read: "Just wondering if @NinaWarhurst has an opinion on what constitutes TOO short a skirt for a 44-year-old. Anyway, it's pleasing there's a very positive move towards 'received' pronunciation."

However, the broadcaster didn't let the comment go unanswered. Alongside denouncing the viewer's words, Nina also posted her own retort.

In her response, she wrote: "When you briefly check back in with Twitter /X because surely it can't be the stream of uninvited feedback from men that you remember... oh hi there. (Translation: if you're gonna look like an old trout, it's more acceptable if you don't sound Mancunian. Noted.)"
This incident comes after Nina's significant career shift from BBC Breakfast to the BBC News at One, although she still makes guest appearances on the morning show. The mother-of-three has been a key part of the Breakfast team for seven years, becoming a familiar face on the iconic red sofa and reporting from various locations, reports Leicestershire Live.
Upon announcing her new role in March, she stated: "I'll be hanging up the high-viz and hairnet for a wee while as I join the BBC's News at One."
The presenter took a moment to reflect with her followers, recounting her initial emotions: "I was heavily pregnant, very nervous, and unbelievably excited to be offered a few shifts on the national broadcast treasure that is @bbcbreakfast. The job was made permanent as we came out of a lockdown and began looking around and wondering how we might pick up the pieces to heal and live again."
She went on to express her gratitude: "It's been a privilege to help support our audiences through this tumultuous time. I am always amazed by those who invite us in to share their stories."
Recently, the host admitted she was in tears as she said farewell to BBC Breakfast. The journalist presented her last ever segment on the show , and couldn't help getting emotional at the end of an era after joining in 2018.

Naomi Campbell dons electric stimulation suit for gruelling Pilates session

Naomi Campbell wears a bulky electric muscle stimulation (EMS) suit during a pilates session. In a video posted to her Instagram on Wednesday (20 August), the supermodel can be seen wearing a black suit while on an exercise machine alongside a personal trainer. EMS suits like these use electrical impulses to stimulate muscles you might not normally activate, causing them to contract and relax, essentially mimicking the effects of exercise — which provides a more intense workout in a shorter period of time. Campbell has been training with PT Rafael Ferreira in Brazil.

Eamonn Holmes forced to apologise after 'offensive' remark to Kerry Katona live on GB News

Eamonn Holmes was forced to apologise after he made a comment about Kerry Katona's appearance during an interview on his GB News Breakfast programme Eamonn Holmes was forced to apologise after describing Kerry Katona as appearing "oriental" following her cosmetic procedures. The GB News host was discussing the presenter and singer's recent surgical enhancements, something Kerry has consistently been transparent about previously. ‌ However, it was one remark on his Breakfast show which left Kerry utterly speechless. ‌ During his GB News programme on Thursday (August 21), he questioned the star: "Are you happy with the eyes?" ‌ Kerry responded: "I had them done over a year ago now. You know all it was I could... it was making my eyes feel a bit heavy so I had an uplift. But what I don't like is when.." Eamonn interjected: "And you don't look Oriental or anything do you?" leaving Kerry astounded. Discussing her treatment, Kerry explained: "I just wanted the skin removed. I didn't want to change my face; I just wanted the skin that was hanging over my eyes," before Eamonn commended her for being candid about her cosmetic alterations. Offering an apology, he subsequently stated: "Apparently you're not allowed to describe someone as looking oriental or... I don't know how I would end up describing Kerry Katona if her eyes change shape. "I don't know how I'm going to say does she look like someone from some other country in the eastern of the world... The world is ridiculous. How you have to apologise for people... if she painted herself or... I don't know I can't get into this. But anyway." ‌ Eamonn's co-presenter, Ellie Costello, quickly intervened to calm the tension, stating: "But Kerry looks beautiful." Eamonn responded: "Kerry looks well, I'm sorry if you don't look well or we have offended you in any way or... Oh, I don't know." ‌ The Home Office removed the term 'Oriental' from an approved list of classifications, reports the Mirror, when referring to individuals from China and South East Asia in a race-hate crime document from 2021. "This term is offensive," the government department declared. ‌ Sarah Owen, Britain's first female MP of Chinese heritage and chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hate Crime, described the language as "incredibly outdated". This marks another occasion where Eamonn has faced calls to apologise for on-air remarks. In 2021, during a This Morning segment with Dr Zoe Williams, he compared her hairstyle to that of an alpaca. During the August 12 broadcast, he expressed a desire to "pet" her locks. ‌ He commented live: "Your hair reminds me of an alpaca today. You just want to pet it, don't you? It's very alpaca-ish." Zoe responded firmly: "Don't touch my hair!" Following the backlash, Eamonn posted on social media that same day: "Hey everyone out there, if my attempt at being humorous with my friend @DrZoeWilliams was misjudged I am mortified and humbly apologise to anyone who was offended." Earlier this year, Kerry disclosed that she had chosen not to proceed with a lower facelift after her children pleaded with her not to have another surgery. Despite her initial enthusiasm for the procedure, Kerry admits her children "massively impacted" her decision. GB News broadcasts daily from 6am. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Antiques Roadshow guest tragically dies just years after life-changing valuation

A young American guest who appeared on Antiques Roadshow has tragically died. A guest on Antiques Roadshow has died tragically just a few years after receiving a life-changing valuation on the programme. ‌ The BBC antiques show, loved across the nation since its launch in 1979, has become a staple of weekend viewing, reports the Mirror. ‌ The young dad's death was announced as the American version of the show picked up an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Structured Reality Program. ‌ As the US spin-off celebrated the nomination, its official social media page shared a poignant story of how one valuation transformed a family's fortunes overnight. PBS executives posted a special segment revisiting some of the show's most unforgettable moments, featuring American stoneware expert David Rago. In 2005, David met an astonished visitor called Tom, who had brought along an 1880 jug passed down through generations. Tom explained: 'This piece belonged to my grandmother, and when she sold her house, the grandkids and the kids could choose different things. This is the piece that I always wanted, so my name was on this one for a long time.' David proceeded to assess the massive jug at an incredible $65,000 (£48,264) to $85,000 (£63,115) before disclosing what the antique actually fetched at auction. ‌ He informed viewers: "That was filmed on the Saturday. On the Monday morning the phone rang, it was Tom, our guest. He said: 'Were you serious about the price? Because we could really use some money '. "And I brought the piece to the Philadelphia Antique Show in April of 2005. The first person in the door purchased it for $110,000 (£81,679). I remember calling Tom that night. They told me that for the first time in their lives, they had enough in their bank account to now apply to adopt a child, a baby boy from Guatemala." ‌ Tragically, Tom only had four years as a dad before he passed away at the age of 46. David added: "The bittersweet part of the story is that, sadly, four years later, Tom passed away at the age of 46. "Carol, his wife, had written to me and told me about it and thanking me for the moments and the good times that Tom had on Antiques Roadshow, and that their wonderful, adorable Henry was now in their lives. It's a story of what Roadshow can do to change someone's life." ‌ During a later segment, David was reunited with Tom's family and young Henry, who has now finished secondary school, and even brought back the family pitcher they had sold to fund the adoption. Viewers were quick to share their heartbreak for the family and celebrate the incredible impact Antiques Roadshow can have. One viewer wrote: "Gosh you guys hit me with the needle. That money being used for the adoption and then telling me Tom died. Talk about a one-two punch of emotions." Another concurred: "What a heartwarming and tragically heartbreaking story. Thank you for sharing it with all of us. I know it touched others as much as it did me."
