Holly Willoughby suffers major blow as Netflix show is 'axed' after one season
Holly Willoughby's Netflix series Celebrity Bear Hunt has reportedly been axed (Picture: Netflix)
British TV personality Holly Willoughby's Netflix show Celebrity Bear Hunt reportedly won't be returning to screens for a second season.
The former This Morning star, 44, broke into the Netflix presenting market last year by hosting a survival show which plunged a group of famous faces into the jungles of Costa Rica where they are chased by famed survivalist Bear Grylls.
The show featured the likes of Spice Girls icon Mel B, retired tennis player Boris Becker, TV presenter Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas.
Although the show comfortably topped the UK Netflix charts – and hung about in the top 10 for multiple weeks – it didn't quite make the same splash globally, with insiders claiming at the time that execs didn't believe it had been worth the 'huge financial cost', per The Mirror.
Now, four months after its premiere, it looks as though its fate has been sealed with sources telling MailOnline it will not be returning.

The insider said: 'Everyone was very proud of the show but when it came to it, it was just so expensive to make.

'You had to have a whole set in Costa Rica, loads of staff and loads of celebrities. The overheads were eyewatering,' adding that cheaper locations were explored but ultimately nothing was found.
It comes just two weeks after Grylls shared his hopes of a renewal with an optimistic update.
'God willing, we're just sort of figuring that out at the moment,' he told Dermot O'Leary on Radio 2.
The first season, dubbed 'I'm A Celebrity on steroids' spanned 12 episodes and was won by Big Zuu where he was rewarded a rope worn by Grylls himself and which he has hung up in his home like a 'weird little mantlepiece' as he told Metro.
Although it seems as though it is the end of the road for the reality show, it left a lasting mark on its cast, as The Saturdays' Una Healey explained.

'[Grylls] actually prepared us for the outside world afterwards, to get back to reality, which I did experience a mild form of PTSD. And he said that can happen,' she told The Sun at the time.
The pop star added: 'It's very natural because you're coming back into your natural environment. But you've adapted to this whole new way of life.
'So he prepared me for that and I had it. I had a few aftershocks and nightmares and stuff.'
As for Willoughby, it is unclear what her next career move is after her final ITV show, Dancing On Ice, announced it was coming to an end after 19 years.
She also quit her co-hosting gig with Stephen Mulhern for the reboot of You Bet! after one season.
Celebrity Bear Hunt is available to stream on Netflix.

Brits can skip passport queues at major holiday destination from this week
Cabinet Office Minister Nick Thomas Symonds confirmed Keir Starmer's deal with the EU was delivering benefits already - allowing holidaymakers to zip through eGates instead of lengthy passport queues Holidaymakers from the UK can skip lengthy passport queues at a major European holiday destination from today, after Keir Starmer cut a deal with the EU. Faro Airport in Portugal will start the rollout of eGate access to UK arrivals this week, the minister for EU relations has said. Taking a question about steps "to improve relations with the EU", Nick Thomas-Symonds - a minister in the Cabinet Office - told the Commons: "The historic deal that we signed with the EU on May 19 is in our national interests - good for bills, borders and jobs. "It slashes red tape and bureaucracy, boosts British exporters and makes life easier for holidaymakers. "Indeed, I'm delighted to confirm this morning that Faro Airport in Portugal will start the rollout of e-gate access to UK arrivals this week." Starmer described the deal as a "win-win" as he shook hands with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in London last month. "Britain is back on the world stage," he declared. "[The deal] gives us unprecedented access to the EU market, the best of any country... all while sticking to the red lines in our manifesto." The PM went on to explain the impact of the "new partnership between an independent Britain and our allies in Europe" on voters' daily lives. "Let me set out why it is good for Britain," he said in a speech posted to X. "Today's deal will [...] help British holidaymakers. We're confirming that they will be able to use e-gates when they travel to Europe, ending those huge queues at passport control." Since Brexit, British passport holders have been considered "visa-exempt third-country nationals" and have generally had to queue for manual checks at border control to have their passport stamped. Brits were able to use e-gates at a limited number of airports in Spain and Portugal. However, the EU has now agreed to ease checks on British travellers more universally. The deal states that "there will be no legal barriers to e-gate use for British nationals travelling to and from European Union." It's yet to be confirmed when the rest of the rollout will go ahead. But the EU plans to launch its new Entry/Exit System (EES) in October 2025, replacing the need for non-EU citizens to have their passports stamped. It is thought that more EU airports will allow UK passengers to use the e-gates after the new system comes into effect. The system will require travellers to have their fingerprints scanned and a photograph taken so they can be registered to a database. Their data will then be stored for three years. Those who do not provide a fingerprint scan and photo will be denied entry. Some EU airports will still require additional checks and Brits may not be able to use e-gates here. Brits will also still be subject to the '90-day rule', whereby eligible non-EU citizens can spend 90 days in any 180-day period in the EU without a visa. Travel records will be digitised under the new EES to enforce this rule and increase border security. The 'landmark deal' is also expected to "lower food prices at checkouts", improve UK defence and put "more money in people's pockets," according to Starmer. Von der Leyen described it as "a historic moment [...] opening a new chapter in our unique relationship."

EXCLUSIVE Loose Women to AXE vital part of the show which viewers love in desperate bid to save cash as ITV budget cuts rage on
Loose Women will axe a vital part of the show which viewers love in a desperate bid to save money as ITV 's budget cuts rage on. MailOnline can reveal the series are scrapping their live studio audience when the programme airs with a reduced schedule of just 30 episodes next year. The change is a further blow to the panellists which include Ruth Langsford, 65, Kaye Adams, 62, Nadia Sawalha, 60, and Charlene White, 44, who rely on the reactions of the audience to create a lively atmosphere. Bosses have got rid of the studio audience to save costs, with insiders revealing that it's an expensive feature due to being managed by an external company, who also provides security and a warmup person, but for the presenters, it's going to be a 'disaster.' It comes after ITV announced dramatic budget cuts to their daytime schedule from halving Lorraine to 30 minutes and only airing the show during school term times to cutting Loose Women's output to 30 weeks a year. And sources have told MailOnline how key talent on Loose Women are 'upset' to see the live studio audience go because it's what sets the season apart from Lorraine and Good Morning Britain amid fears viewers will 'switch off' altogether. MailOnline can reveal the series are scrapping their live studio audience when the programme airs with a reduced schedule of just 30 episodes next year A TV source told MailOnline: 'The panelists are really upset over the decision to axe the live studio audience from the show. 'It's what sets the series apart from the rest of ITV daytime and now there are massive concerns that viewers will switch off completely. 'The only concern now is to cut costs and having a live studio audience can be expensive, with the added need for security and a warmup artist. 'Presenters already know how it feels to broadcast the show without an audience because that's what happened during the pandemic, and they all know it creates low mood and lack of atmosphere.' MailOnline revealed it isn't just Lorraine and Loose Women who are experiencing budget cuts and job losses following ITV's recent announcement about merging their daytime shows. This Morning are also suffering from cutbacks behind the scenes with presenters like Alison Hammond told they will no longer fly overseas for A-list interviews, as well as scrapping live outside broadcasts like from their TV forest. It comes as panelist Nadia spoke about the 'brutal' cuts to Loose Women as she explained how tough the announcement had been for staff. She said: 'This show has been highly successful for 25 years, more actually now, it is such a clear brand... 'The brutality of the world... what a lot of people don't realise is that we're self-employed, every contract is a new contract, I could be let go tomorrow or in five years, we're not employees. 'What's been absolutely brutal over the last week and honestly, I feel tearful about it is that hundreds of people are going to be made redundant out of the blue, these are people behind the scenes, that support us in every way. 'It's the way of the world, inflation is insane, cuts have to be made... a lot of my friends and colleagues on this show and at ITV have been there for decades, and I can't tell you how upsetting it was to see people walking around numb with shock and fear about what they were going to do.' Last month, it was confirmed that Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women will relocate from Television Centre to a new filming location, where they plan to share the same studio.
