Patna: A violent altercation between two student groups at B N College in Patna escalated into chaos on Tuesday afternoon when crude bombs were hurled on campus, disrupting examinations and leaving a student severely injured.
The injured student, identified as Sujit Pandey, son of Dharmendra Pandey from Bhaluni Dham village in Rohtas district, was rushed to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment. The incident took place around 12.45pm, while students were appearing for their Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examination. According to eyewitnesses, a sudden explosion rocked the corridor of the examination block, sending students into a panic. Within minutes, a second bomb was hurled—this time reportedly striking a student after hitting the wall and the iron grill near the college gate."People were writing their papers when a loud blast rang through the corridor. The atmosphere turned chaotic, with students running in different directions. Just as we were being evacuated, another explosion occurred, hitting a student on the head," an eyewitness said.Soon after the blasts, students blocked the busy Ashok Rajpath road, raising slogans against the college administration. The protestors alleged administrative apathy, claiming repeated inaction against violent and disruptive elements on campus. The police later pacified the students and cleared the road. Pirbahore police, led by SHO Abdul Haleem, reached the college and launched an investigation. "Two crude bombs exploded during the exam. A forensic team has been called to collect samples, and CCTV footage from the campus is being scrutinised to identify those involved," the SHO said. He further added that no arrests have been made as yet.Initial investigation suggests the violence was rooted in a previous confrontation between hostel residents of the college. "This appears to be a continuation of a dispute between two student groups. A few days ago, a similar altercation had been pacified by police's intervention. Unfortunately, the situation escalated today due to the failure of the college administration to monitor student activities and prevent dangerous materials from being brought onto campus," the SHO said.College principal Rajkishore Prasad expressed concern over the repeated disturbances on the campus. "The blasts occurred at 12.45pm and 12.48pm. A student was injured. It is troubling that some students entered the examination hall without valid ID cards. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against those found involved," he said.

Congress stages march for justice to Muz rape victim after her death
1 2 3 4 Patna: Congress organised a 'halla-bol' march in Patna on Monday to demand justice for the 11-year-old Muzaffarpur dalit girl, who was raped and brutally assaulted on May 26 and died at the PMCH during treatment on Sunday morning. The accused, who was arrested, had partially slit her throat and stabbed the girl multiple times after rape. Her vocal cords were badly damaged. Congress has alleged negligence in her treatment and said she was referred from the SKMCH on Saturday to the PMCH where the poor girl struggling for life was kept waiting in the ambulance and taken to different wards for almost 4 hours before she was provided a bed. Her uncle also alleged gross negligence and delay on the part of the PMCH doctors. However, the PMCH administration refuted all the allegations. The Congress men, led by state party president Rajesh Kumar, Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu Chib and AICC in charge of state Congress Krishna Allavaru, started the march from Sadaquat Ashram to CM house before the police stopped them near Rajapur Pul and detained some of the leaders when they tried to jump the barricades. "Agar ye sarkar nahi mani to hum int se int baja denge…Jab jab Nitish darte hain to police ko aage karte hain," Rajesh said when the police stopped them from moving forward. Chib alleged that dalit women are being exploited during the Nitish Kumar rule, while the double engine govt has no control over crime or corruption. He also said the "irresponsible" Nitish-BJP govt pushed a minor dalit rape victim towards death due to govt mismanagement. RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav also attacked the state govt and said all the NDA people were busy only in holding political meetings. "Everyone is busy with elections. No one in the govt is ready to share the pain of the people of Bihar or get them justice," he said. Rajesh slammed the BJP for criticising Congress for raising questions and calling it politics. BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal had said there should be no politics on such issues and "strict action will be taken against the culprits. This is a very sad incident, Congress should not do politics on this".

Tejashwi Yadav slams Nitish Kumar over Muzaffarpur minor girl's rape
Patna: Bihar Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his government on Monday over the Muzaffarpur rape case and medical negligence at PMCH that led to the death of a 10-year-old Dalit girl. Speaking to the media, Yadav said, 'Whether it's law and order, healthcare, education, or employment, this double-engine government has failed completely. The Chief Minister has never expressed regret on any such issue. I doubt if he even knows about this brutal rape case.' Yadav strongly criticised the Chief Minister and his two deputies for allegedly being preoccupied with political events and election preparations, saying they were ignoring public grievances and justice. 'Criminals are dominant in Bihar. Bullets are being fired near the Secretariat and even outside the Chief Minister's residence. There is no law and order left in Bihar,' Yadav added, pointing to recent violent crimes across the state. On the victim's death, Yadav claimed the child was left in an ambulance for over four hours without treatment at PMCH, which he described as an inexcusable administrative failure. 'No one from the government met the victim's family. This shows the insensitivity of the ruling alliance,' he said. When asked about his brother Tej Pratap Yadav's controversy and comments involving the term 'Jaichand,' Tejashwi said the matter has been handled by RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav, and he would not comment on personal issues. On Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's statement criticising the NDA's focus on optics over substance, Yadav said, 'He has only spoken the truth. Airports are being inaugurated, PM Modi did the road show, but martyr families are being ignored. Crimes against children are happening, yet no one in the government speaks out about it.'

‘Running on ventilator': Congress slams Nitish Kumar government after minor rape victim dies in state-run hospital
The Congress came down heavily on the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government after a 10-year-old rape survivor died at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Sunday, saying that the administration is 'running on ventilator'. According to a report from the news agency ANI, the girl was initially under treatment at the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur on May 26. She had severe neck and internal injuries. The PMCH in-charge superintendent, Dr Abhijit Singh, told the news agency, "After she arrived here, the doctor examined her in the ambulance. She was taken to the ICU, and doctors from all departments treated her for the entire night." The minor girl's uncle Virendra Paswan alleged that the accused lured the 10-year-old by offering her chocolate near her aunt's house and then took her to a maize field where he raped her. "The boy has been arrested. He strangled the girl and slit her throat. We called 112," he said. Additionally, Paswan has alleged negligence on the part of the hospital administration and doctors, saying that she was kept in the ambulance for two hours before being admitted to the hospital. "The doctors referred us to Patna, but we didn't like it there either. It's not a good hospital. Yesterday, we came, and we waited for three hours in an ambulance. When everyone started creating a ruckus, they admitted her at 4 o'clock. There was no convenience for anything. The child was uneasy and started crying at night. The doctors got upset and gave sleeping medicine to the child all night long, and at eight o'clock in the morning, she died," Paswan told the news agency ANI. These allegations have been denied by Dr Singh. "If such an incident takes place with anyone, the family will make allegations of negligence. We actively treated her right after we learned about this case. The doctor examined her in the ambulance, and then she was admitted." Further, the minor victim's uncle alleged that he had to spend ₹25,000 at the hospital despite it being a government institution. "PMCH hospital is negligent. This hospital means that anyone who comes will become a dead body. Even the doctor is negligent. Yesterday morning, they said that everything would be taken care of at a government hospital, but they take money to give blood; no money means no blood. Here we spent ₹25,000," he said. Paswan added that if one gives blood, then they will get blood, otherwise, they won't. The hospital administration is negligent, he reiterated. The incident has drawn the ire of Congress, whose party leader Aditya Paswan demanded action against the hospital administration and the government. Aditya blamed the NDA-led Bihar government for the negligence of the doctors at PMCH and demanded that the superintendent of the hospital be suspended immediately. He also called for the resignation of the state health minister. "The Bihar government is running on ventilators, and this is just a pretence that a world-class hospital is being built.. If this were the case, it would not have happened to that girl, a Dalit; whether Dalit or poor, people are equal. If someone says you will have to struggle for one hour to admit the girl, it is a shame," he added. Citing that the girl was made to wait in the ambulance for over two hours, Aditya Paswan said, "There is a system where there is no cost to the life of a Dalit, then there is no price for the life of the poor, then there is not point in staying with such a government". The Bihar spokesperson for Congress told news agency ANI," When we met the superintendent there, he said that he had to refer to Patna. We asked for a reference to AIIMS, which has better facilities, but for some reason, he referred us to the PMCH. After arriving at PMCH, the girl was lying in the ambulance for about two and a half hours." "Following that, we came with the state president. I brought Mr Rajesh Ram with me... We met the superintendent. After struggling for one hour, the girl was taken away. If the girl had been admitted on time, then today the girl would not have died," he added.
