This will conclude the Devils' end-of-season media availability. The players conducted their exit interviews on May 1st, which can be viewed on the team's official website.
Due to family reasons, I won't be able to attend in person, but I'll still provide coverage. Follow along for all the updates with our live blog at The Hockey News, and join the conversation by commenting below.
- When asked about his team's performance after the Christmas break, Keefe said his team showed an inability to sustain their game.
- Keefe felt his team had an average season: "We finished 16th out of 32 teams. That is average, and we are not here to be average."
- Fitzgerald shares that the Devils won't be coming back next season with the same group because it wasn't good enough.
- Fitzgerald said he will speak with goaltender Jake Allen's agent this summer. Allen is a pending unrestricted free agent.
- Fitzgerald confirms defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic had successful surgery today. He confirmed the 27-year-old will not be ready for the start of the 2025-26 season.

WATCH: Former Ohio State player throws out first pitch at Detroit Tigers game
Now that the NFL draft is over and the first-timers that were selected have gone through rookie minicamp, the entire rosters of NFL teams can get on with the status quo of starting to get other camping opportunities underway, all leading up to fall camp and the start of the season. Former Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams was one of the 14 Ohio State football players taken in this year's draft, and he landed in an uncomfortable spot if you will, up in Michigan with the Detroit Lions when they selected him with the No. 28 pick in the first round. He isn't the first -- nor will he be the last -- former Buckeye to play his professional ball at TSUN (Chris Spielman anyone), but he'll have to make a good impression or perhaps face the wrath of those who loved to root against him in college. Advertisement One way to do that is to make the rounds in the community, and Williams was doing just that over this past weekend by not only attending a Detroit Tigers baseball game but by throwing out the first pitch. It wasn't a seed thrown to the plate, but rather a smooth and soft delivery that at least won't get any viral moments, though it was a bit high. If you haven't seen Williams' first pitch against the Cubs on Sunday, get a look here thanks to the Detroit Tigers' "X" (formerly Twitter) account. There are several former Buckeyes getting comfortable in their new environments and cities in the NFL, and as more of these moments are made available, we'll continue to bring them to you. 'A generational run': Fighters react to Merab Dvalishvili's UFC 316 win over Sean O'Malley
Merab Dvalishvili proved too much for Sean O'Malley to handle once again in the UFC 316 main event. Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA, 13-2 UFC) retained his bantamweight title by defeating O'Malley (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) in the third round with a submission to win the rematch and record his second title defense. Check below for the top X (formerly Twitter) reactions to Dvalishvili's title defense at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.: The MAIN EVENT of #UFC316 is here!Who wins: Merab Dvalishvili or Sean O'Malley?Full coverage: The fence in the stands came down after Merab Dvalishvili walked out at #UFC316. Shades of Mike Malott in Vancouver but all look OK, thankfully. Let's go Sugar . #AndNew again? Is Sean O'Malley winning? #UFC316 Let's go machineeeeeee @MerabDvalishvil 🦾🦾🦾 Suga 🍭 vs Merab 🇬🇪 #UFC316 O'Malley looks very locked in. I like this side of him. #UFC316 Some nice single shots by O'Malley but Merab turning up the machine and winning exchanges. #UFC316 Merab should keep him at the fence and just wear him out. 10-9 Dvalishvili. Fun round. His pace remains relentless #UFC316 10-9 Merab. O'Malley can't run forever. He needs to take risks sooner rather than later #UFC316 O'Malley didn't deserve this title shot at all. But it's actually a fascinating fight to watch - Sugar Sean scurrying around the ring like a rat and Merab pursuing like a mad man trying to smother and kill the rat #UFC316 O'Malley's defense has been halfway decent thus far, but he's struggling to find much offense #UFC316 2-0 Merab but good showing defensively from O'Malley. Defense isn't gonna win him the fight though. I like that corner advice that John Wood gave Merab in regards to going to the body after getups/off breaks #UFC316 As much as O'Malley has improved his takedown defence, you get the feeling that not scoring takedowns is as much a part of Merab's game plan as scoring them all about wearing them down and making them fight at an unsustainable pace. Nailing it through two round here. @MerabDvalishvil is taking Sean into deep water… What's he made of? We shall see! #UFC316 Merab doin what be does best Impressed by Merab. It's going to be hard for o''malley to handle this pressure. Don't see merab slowing down. #ufc316 Merab taps O'Malley in Round 3! #UFC316 #AndStill, The Machine. Merab Dvalishvili is an animal!!! 👏🏻👏🏻 #UFC316 Merab looked better than ever! Boxing and submission. #UFC316 Merab submits Suga in the guy never stops. A real machine out there. Sean O'Malley to the back of the line. He might never be UFC champion ever is an animal. Gonna be champ for a long time. #UFC316 #AndStill: Merab Dvalishvili #UFC316 Dominance from Merab. O'Malley was never in that fight and never belonged in that for both the champion and for those that said this rematch was an un-needed one. Love to see it. #UFC316 Merab Dvalishvili puts away Sean O'Malley with a submission in the rematch. Good stuff for him, and a tough moment for O'Malley who has a pretty much worst-case scenario and is in the position he feared with back-to-back defeats to Merab. Merab is amazing 👏🏽 #UFC316 I do want to see Cory fight for the title next but man at the same time I need to see that O'Malley vs sandhagen Great win Merab! Honestly this wasn't a fight, but straight bullying #ufc316 Unreal performance from @MerabDvalishvil best ever at 135 on a generational run 🔥 This is what happens when you're handed things you didn't earn. Back in line, buddy @SugaSeanMMA
