City's top cop receives award at World Police summit in Dubai
This international recognition was bestowed upon him due to the proactive measures undertaken to curb drug trafficking and consumption in Hyderabad, awareness programmes conducted for drug control for students and public in the Hyderabad commissionerate limits, and the significant achievements made in this regard in the past three years.
At the awards ceremony held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, UAE, from May 13 to 16, Anand received the award' from the WPS committee. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that prominent police officers from 138 countries participated in the International Police Summit-2025. He expressed immense happiness that the city police H-NEW had won the 'Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award' after competing with highly efficient police forces from various continents. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of his team members in achieving this prestigious award and extended his sincere gratitude to each of them.
Anand emphasised that this achievement is a matter of great pride not only for the Telangana police, but for the entire police force of India. He attributed this recognition to the innovative work practices and comprehensive approach adopted by H-NEW in controlling narcotics. Twelve police officers and innovators from various law enforcement agencies of 12 countries were awarded the first prize in various categories of law enforcement.
In a panel discussion preceding the awards function, Anand spoke about the issues of narcotics faced by India as a nation, especially after Covid, the ways narcotics are entering the country, the gangs and peddlers apprehended, the efforts to watch educational institutions through anti-drug committees and awareness campaigns, the rehabilitation measures.

CUTTACK: Uncertainty looms over the conduct of the rescheduled Special Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) as all three sets of question papers prepared by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) are suspected to have been leaked. According to reports, the BSE follows a practice of preparing and printing three different sets of question papers for each examination, keeping the other sets in reserve in case one is compromised. For the Special OTET-2025, scheduled on July 20, three sets were prepared and printed. However, hours before the exam, BSE postponed it due to a question paper leak. On August 1, the board rescheduled the test to August 31. But now, it has reportedly written to the School and Mass Education (SME) department, expressing its inability to conduct the exam due to a shortage of manpower and time constraint.

DGP reviews law & order situation in Bathinda, Faridkot, Ferozepur Ranges, ask officials to be ready against counter terrorism
BATHINDA: Continuing with his visits in the field for the second day, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday chaired law and order review meetings and outreach sessions with officers of Ferozepur, Faridkot, Bathinda and Patiala Ranges ahead of forthcoming Independence Day-2025. Reaffirming commitment to eliminating the cross-border drug menace through transparent enforcement of the NDPS Act, DGP issued strategic directives on counter-terror readiness, inter-district coordination, strong nakas, and continuous surveillance to ensure safe Independence Day celebrations . DGP Gaurav Yadav appreciated the officers on work being done under the anti-drug Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign and directed them to further intensify the anti-drug campaign to wipe out the drugs from the state. He also asked officers to conduct financial investigations vis section 68-F of the NDPS Act, and against Hawala operators to dismantle the entire ecosystem of drug trafficking. He also given instructions to all the SSPs to maintain peace and harmony by ensuring police presence at all important places, intensify domination operations and other preventive and detective measures. He also briefed the police force regarding the current security scenario and reviewed counter-terror strategies. As part of the outreach, the DGP Punjab also engaged directly with officers across all ranks including station house officers (SHOs). 17 caught gambling in Pkl hotel, 81,000 seized
Panchkula: Seventeen people were caught gambling here recently and Rs 81,000 was seized from them. Tipped off about them, crime branch sleuths raided Hotel Swiss Lodge in Sector 5 on Aug 9. Police seized nine decks of playing cards, the plastic chips, and other related material from the scene, besides Rs 81,000. The arrested individuals were identified as Anish (Chandigarh), Deepak Arora (Sector-27D, Chandigarh), Anurag (Mohali), Govinda (Raipur Khurd, Chandigarh), Rohit (Mohali), Sarang Khurana (Mohali), Hanny Kapoor (Ludhiana), Rohit (Pinjore), Asu (Ludhiana), Jitendra Kumar (Ludhiana), Sukhpal Singh (Bathinda), Sammi (Ludhiana), Rashmi Kumar (Sector 21, Panchkula), Tarun Kumar alias Monty (Mohali), Deepak Kalda (Sector 21, Panchkula), Rajkumar (Delhi), and Sonu Taneja (Mohali). A case has been registered under Section 3(1) of the Gambling Act, 2025 at the Sector 5 police station. Police have appealed to the public to report any information related to gambling or other illegal activities, and assured that such information will be acted upon promptly.
