All-rounder Hardik Pandya will go through the assessment procedure in Bengaluru on August 11 and 12.
The Asia Cup 2025 is loading, and ahead of the continental tourney, it has been learned that premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya will undergo a fitness assessment at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The 31-year-old had been a crucial cog in India's successful campaigns at the T20 World Cup 2025 and Champions Trophy earlier this year. The star all-rounder has been training in Mumbai since mid-July, and the team will be counting on him to win the Asia Cup, which gets underway on September 9.
According to The Times of India, Pandya will go through the assessment procedure in Bengaluru on August 11 and 12. The report further stated that Shreyas Iyer had completed his fitness assessment between July 27 and 29.
Iyer recently led Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final, just a year after guiding Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their third title. However, he hasn't played T20Is since December 2023. It will be interesting to see whether he makes the cut in the upcoming continental tourney.
Meanwhile, captain Suryakumar Yadav will spend another week at the COE to gain full fitness under the watchful eyes of the physios and medical team. He had an outstanding IPL 2025 season, scoring 717 runs for the Mumbai Indians and winning the Most Valuable Player award. He was the second-highest run-scorer of the season, just behind Sai Sudharsan of the Gujarat Titans, who made 759 runs.
After Rohit Sharma retired from T20Is following India's 2024 T20 World Cup win, Suryakumar became the full-time T20I captain. Since then, India have won 17 of the 22 matches under his leadership.
Shubman Gill To Be Named Vice Captain
After a promising start to his captaincy career, he is now set to take on a key role in the T20I setup as well. According to RevSportz, Gill is likely to be named India's T20I vice-captain for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
Gill's recent IPL performances with the Gujarat Titans have been exceptional — scoring 890 runs at a strike rate of 157.80, 426 at 147.40, and 650 at 155.88 in the last three seasons.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and England star Liam Livingstone displayed a spectacular range of power-hitting as he steered his side Birmingham Phoenix to victory over Oval Invincibles in The Hundred 2025. Livingstone smashed 69 runs off just 27 deliveries to take his team to victory, as they chased down a target of 181 with two balls to spare. During his swashbuckling knock, Livingstone dished out the ultimate punishment to legendary Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, smashing him for 26 runs in one of his five-ball overs. Livingstone displayed the full extent of his might between ball 76 and 80, when Rashid came in to bowl. He hit Rashid for three sixes and two boundaries. The England star was purchased for Rs 8.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, and helped RCB win the IPL title for the first time in his career. However, he did not fare well with the bat, scoring only 112 runs in eight innings, with just one half-century. Meanwhile, former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and New Zealand cricketer Jesse Ryder has praised RCB's historic Indian Premier League (IPL) title win this year, extending his congratulations to the team."I was super excited for them, you know. Congrats to the RCB boys for that," Ryder said. Speaking about Virat Kohli finally lifting the IPL trophy, Ryder said the victory clearly meant a great deal to the former RCB captain. "Yeah, well obviously we all saw how emotional he was about the win. Obviously it meant a lot to him, so congrats to him for finally getting a win," he noted. Ryder also lauded India's recent performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, particularly the impact of the younger players. "The young team, I guess they did pretty well. A lot of the guys scoring runs and stuff like that, so I think the future's looking pretty bright for India," he said. RCB ended their 18-year-long title drought, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a well-fought final at Narendra Modi Stadium on July 3. RCB won by six runs.

Virat Kohli's Unmissable 'Australia ODIs' Hint As Wait For India Great's Return Grows

When will Virat Kohli return to international fold? That is one question which is bothering all. The former India captain and batting great last played at the Champions Trophy. As he has retired from T20s and Tests, Kohli will now only be seen in ODIs. After an ODI series against Bangladesh in August was postponed, the next assignment for India in the format is against Australia in October. And there is enough hint now that Kohli is prepping up for that series. A few days back, Kohli shared a photo with Gujarat Titans' assistant coach Naeem Amin in what appeared to be an indoor net session. "Thanks for helping out with the hit, brother. Always lovely to see you," Kohli wrote on his Instagram story, sharing the photo. A Virat Kohli shared the same photo, along with the caption "Virat Kohli prepping for the Aussie ODIs". The photo was liked by Virat Kohli's official Instagram handle. Indian cricket icons, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, remain active in the One-Day International format, having recently quit both T20Is and Tests. While the Indian team has moved on from the two batting greats in the two formats, Rohit still remains the skipper of the 50-over side, while Virat is as influential as ever. When it comes to the ODI format, the 2027 World Cup seems to be the target for the duo, though neither of them has officially communicated their future plan. However, as per a report, it isn't going to be easy for Virat and Rohit to play the ODI World Cup in two years' time despite their success in the format. As per a report in Dainik Jagran, neither Virat nor Rohit is guaranteed a spot in India's 2027 ODI World Cup squad. With none of them playing T20Is and Tests, match time in the coming years is also going to be limited. The situation, hence, triggers a big doubt in the minds of the selection committee and the top BCCI bosses. However, the report has also claimed that both Kohli and Rohit would have to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the domestic one-day competition that starts in December this year, if they are to keep themselves in contention for a spot in the ODI World Cup. Without Vijay Hazare Trophy participation, the doors are unlikely to open for them. "Vira Kohli and Rohit Sharma do not fit in our plans for the ODI World Cup 2027," the report quoted a source from the team management as saying.
