Aamir Khan says he still believes in marriage after making his relationship official with Gauri Spratt: 'I can pretend that Kiran and I are...'

Aamir Khan spoke about his two divorces and his current relationship with girlfriend Gauri Spratt read more Aamir Khan, who is currently busy in the promotions of Sitaare Zameen Par, recently opened up about his personal life and shared that he still believes in marriage. The 60-year-old star spoke about his two divorces and his current relationship with girlfriend Gauri Spratt. 'In India, marriage is a very serious thing. When your marriage breaks, you go to divorce, and people don't like that. Emotionally, they don't like it either. I know that too, and I also believe that marriage is a very important thing and shouldn't be taken lightly. I completely agree with that. That's why I can present this matter truthfully in front of people, and I should. I do speak the truth that I was married to Reena, but we can no longer stay married, or I was married to Kiran, and now we can no longer stay married. So, it's a loss for all of us. Our families are not happy with this and we are also not doing it happily," said Aamir while talking to Zoom. We can live like that too, but that would be a lie." Making the moment lighter, he smiled and said, 'Shaadi me main kamyab nahi hua hun, lekin divorce me main hua hoon (I wasn't successful in marriage, but I've been successful in divorce)." Aamir said that he still believes in the institution of marriage and shared, 'It's a very old institution and I have the deepest regard in my heart for this institution. It's a very beautiful feeling. Aamir Khan says he was fired from Yash Chopra's Darr because he wanted a joint narration with Sunny Deol: ‘I didn't say no, I was removed'

Yash Chopra's Darr was a pivotal film in Shah Rukh Khan's career. Starring alongside Juhi Chawla and Sunny Deol, this film had SRK playing the role of an obsessive stalker who is determined to be with the woman he loves, even if he has to murder the people around her. But, before Shah Rukh, the role was presented to Aamir Khan. In a recent interview, Aamir said that he was fired from Darr by Yash Chopra because he insisted on a joint narration with the two heroes of the film but Yash refused to do so. In a chat with Zoom, Aamir was talking about films that he refused to do, which later went on to become big hits. Here, the topic of Darr came up and Aamir corrected the interviewer and said that he didn't refuse the film, but was actually fired from it. 'I didn't say no to Darr. I said yes but I was fired from the film because I wanted a joint narration. There were two actors and I have this principle that if there are two actors then the director should give a joint narration and Yash ji did not want to do that so he fired me. Everyone has their own way of working. I think when two people are working together, they should listen to the narration together so we can work together as a team,' he said. Aamir said that he believes that if there are more actors, 'they should all listen to the film together.' 'That didn't happen in Darr so I was fired. I was removed from Darr.' ALSO READ | Jaat: Bollywood stars are incapable of laughing at themselves; if Himesh Reshammiya can do it, why can't Sunny Deol? Aamir said that he followed the same principle in Rajkumar Santoshi's Andaz Apna Apna where he starred with Salman Khan. He shared that Salman cancelled the narration thrice but Aamir was insistent that they should hear the narration at the same time so they both have enough clarity about their parts in the film. 'Like in Andaz Apna Apna when Rajkumar Santoshi was narrating for the first time… Salman cancelled the meeting thrice. We got there but he wasn't present. His secretary said, 'Salman will listen to it later, you guys carry on, he is doing the film'. I said I won't listen to it either. I will only listen to it when Salman is present. He cancelled thrice but we finally listened to it together,' he said. After the release of Darr, Sunny Deol was quite upset with Yash and Shah Rukh as he believed that his character was given less importance than Shah Rukh's even though he was playing the traditional hero in the film. So much so that Sunny and Shah Rukh had a decades-long beef which was only resolved after SRK attended the success party of Gadar 2 in 2023.

Aamir Khan opens up about marriage and divorce with exes Reena, Kiran: ‘Divorce mein main kamyab hua hoon'

Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan is currently busy on a promotional spree for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. During interviews regarding the same, Aamir has been quite candid about his acting career as well as his personal life and divorces from ex-wives Reena Datta and Kiran Rao. In 1986, the actor got married to Reena, mother to his children Ira Khan and Junaid Khan. In 2002, Aamir and Reena got divorced and three years later he tied the knot with Kiran. In 2011, they welcomed son Azad into the world. In 2021, Aamir and Kiran got separated. This year, the actor introduced media and fans to his new girlfriend Gauri Spratt. A post shared by Viral Bhayani (@viralbhayani) In a recent chat with Zoom, talking about his marriages and divorces, Aamir Khan shared, 'In India, marriage is a very serious thing. When your marriage breaks, you go to divorce, and people don't like that. Emotionally, they don't like it either. I know that too, and I also believe that marriage is a very important thing and shouldn't be taken lightly. I completely agree with that. Our families are not happy with this and we are also not doing it happily.' Aamir explained that some circumstances made them realise that their relationship has changed. He went on to add that he and Kiran could pretend that they are happy together and continue their lives like that publicly, while doing whatever they want in their personal lives. However, that would have been a lie and the former couple believed it would be like 'devaluing marriage'. Today, they are happy as co-parents and Aamir is even working together with Reena and Kiran for the Paani Foundation. Aamir stated, 'Shaadi me main kamyab nahi hua hun, lekin divorce me main hua hoon (I wasn't successful in marriage, but I've been successful in divorce).' While Ira is now happily married, Junaid is carving his name in Bollywood, following in the footsteps of his actor father Aamir.
