'A bit of a sixth sense': Video shows 'Bridgerton' actor stopping phone thief

Yahoo13-06-2025
A London thief chose the wrong actor's phone to try and steal.
"Bridgerton" actor Genevieve Chenneour, 27, went viral after a video captured her fight off a man who snatched her cell phone at a London cafe when she wasn't looking.
Security footage shows the English performer sitting on Feb. 8 as a man grabs her device from her table while she's looking away. As he walks away, she quickly notices and does not hesitate to stop him. With the help of a bystander, Chenneour kicks and pushes the man to the ground, takes her phone back and appears to strike him with it.
"I had a bit of a sixth sense that something wasn't quite right. As a woman, you have that kind of intuition," Chenneour said in an interview on the "This Morning" talk show. "I could feel people moving around me in a different way, but I only became aware of it once the incident had happened."
Chenneour she believes the man had spent time picking the perfect target, which she quickly proved wasn't her. She explained that she remembers kicking him back with her leg to create distance in case he had a weapon on him.
Looking back she understands that not everyone would have fought back, but said she instinctually opted to because of her experiences as a boxer and growing up with three brothers.
"I thought that was a normal reaction, and then I read all the comments and realized actually a lot of people would just let them take the phone," she said. "It was just a life changing, crazy moment."
While Chenneour managed to leave the business with her phone, she said the experience impacted her anxiety, making her more fearful to leave her home.
"As a woman, we already have our wits about us around strangers and random men. So to have this happen to me while dealing with that probably base level that a lot of women have just made me quite agoraphobic," she said.
She added that the experience opened up many conversations that made her more aware of how many people are afraid of being out in public.
London's Metropolitan Police Service arrested an 18-year-old man who is set to be sentenced over theft and assault charges on June 17, according to BBC.
Chenneour is 27-year-old English actor best known for her role in Netflix's "Bridgerton."
In Season 3 of the hit romance show she plays Clara Livingston, a debutante at the start of the 1815 season.
She is a former professional athlete who grew up in a military family, according to her IMDb page. She has prior experiences in dance, swimming and gymnastics and said she is a carded member of the American Boxing Association.

UK police say more than 500 people arrested in pro-Palestinian events over weekend

LONDON -- London police said Sunday that 532 people were arrested the previous day when supporters of a pro-Palestinian group recently outlawed as a terrorist organization intentionally broke the law to test the government's ability to enforce the ban. The Metropolitan Police Service released the updated figures as protesters demanding the immediate release of the remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza held their own march through central London on Sunday afternoon. The vast majority of those detained on Saturday were arrested for displaying placards declaring their support for the group known as Palestine Action. Police updated their earlier totals and said 522 people were arrested for supporting a proscribed organization in violation of anti-terror laws. Another 10 people were arrested on a variety of charges, including assaulting and obstructing police officers. Backers of Palestine Action staged the protest to underscore their belief that the government is illegally restricting freedom of expression by banning a direct action organization that has challenged its policies. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, who oversees law enforcement in Britain, rejected that characterization, saying Palestine Action was banned after committing serious attacks involving violence, significant injuries and extensive criminal damage. 'The right to protest is one we protect fiercely but this is very different from displaying support for this one specific and narrow, proscribed organization,' Cooper said in a statement. 'Many people may not yet know the reality of this organization, but the assessments are very clear, this is not a nonviolent organization,' she added. Police released updated information on the Palestine Action protest after the front pages of Sunday newspapers featured photos of elderly protesters being carted off by officers. One of those was La Pethick, an 89-year-old retired psychotherapist, who told the Times of London that she had the support of her five grandchildren. 'We are having our right to peaceful protest being taken away,' she said. Almost half of those arrested were over the age of 60, according to figures released by the Met. Police said the process of deciding whether to file charges against those arrested is likely to take weeks as officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command put together case files and seek approval from prosecutors, and in some cases the attorney general. Parliament voted to ban Palestine Action after activists broke into a Royal Air Force base and damaged two tanker planes to protest British support for the war in Gaza. Palestine Action had previously targeted Israeli defense contractors and other sites in Britain that they believe have links with the Israeli military. Supporters of Palestine Action are challenging the ban in court, arguing that the government has violated human rights laws by in declaring the group a terrorist organization.

In fact, this *will* be worn all the time. Willingly. Promising review: "This is the wireless bra that I have been searching for forever! It is so soft and comfortable, but still does its job. I sized up for lounging but will order my correct size as well for when I want more support. I am over the moon about this bralette!" —JustinePrice: $46 (available in sizes XS–4XL and in 12 colors) An underwire T-shirt bra constructed with lightly-lined underwire cups to provide structure, spacing, and subtle lift. In plain English? This is the perfect everyday undergarment. Promising review: "THIS FITS PERFECTLY!!! I am still blown away… I've never tried on Harper Wilde bras before, and after I took the bra size quiz online, comparing an older bra I had from VS, 🤫 I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. And I got THE BEST. It's fully supportive, everything stays up and in (big bosom problems…), I'm not constantly trying to adjust anything; it's also very cute while also maintaining full coverage. The rose color is a fully saturated, pinkish-toned cream. I'll be going with a darker color next time." —ChloePrice: $48 (available in cup sizes A–DDD/F, band sizes 32–44, and in six colors) A T-shirt bra that has allllll the support of your favorite underwire without, well, any underwire. Lined cups provide both shape and coverage while an adjustable J-hook closure guarantees a perfect fit. Promising review: "This is now my all-time favorite bra! The wire-free T-shirt bra is soft, comfortable, and cute!! I love the color options and the price is on point!" —AnniePrice: $48 (available in cup sizes A–DDD/F, band sizes 32–42, and in three colors) A scoop bralette about to become the mid-rise black leggings of your intimates drawer — aka you'll be wearing it with alarming frequency (think: every single day). Promising review: "I love how this is not tight. It feels like I am wearing nothing. It doesn't reshape my body, and I love how it looks on me!" —JannahPrice: $23+ (originally $46; available in sizes XS–4XL and in seven colors) A strapless bra because life's too short to avoid wearing halter tops and strapless dresses. Hidden underwire, silicone grippers, and a hint of padding mean your bra won't have fallen to the bottom of your rib cage by the end of the night. Promising reviews: "The best strapless bra. I have a hard time finding ones that fit my large chest, and this one is great!! And comfy." —Soren"Comfortable and doesn't slip. Win!" —Peyton Price: $15+ (originally $48; available in sizes XS–4XL and in five colors) An unlined bra made from a silky-smooth microfiber fabric that is essentially like your coziest pajama set... but for your ~breast~ friends. Promising reviews: "So comfortable I originally ordered two then reordered two more." —Kim"These bras are really fantastic. Great coverage, no squeeze out, and the strap adjusters in the front are so helpful" —CarolynPrice: $36+ (originally $48; available in cup sizes A–DDD/F, band sizes 32–42, and in six colors) A plunge bralette with three-hook closure and adjustable straps. Translation: You won't have to tug at your shirt every five seconds to ensure support stays in place. Promising reviews: "Actually, the most comfortable bra I've ever had. I am a B-cup that used to be a big C-cup, so I have some extra skin. Normally, with a deep cut like this, they would fall off the middle when I lean over. That does not happen with this bra for some reason. It's so soft. Straps are wide and soft. Adjustable back. Just perfect." —Olivia"Very happy. Finally, a lounge bra that's comfortable. Would definitely recommend to my friends!" —KatherinePrice: $46 (available in sizes XS–4XL and in five colors) A mesh plunge bra here to romanticize the process of getting dressed every morning, comfort not compromised. Promising reviews: "This is the most comfortable and supportive bra I've ever had on in my life. I just ordered five more of them. Absolutely worth every penny." —Regina"I have been looking for a great bra that doesn't have padding. I loved the bras in the '70s, made for women with small breasts and no padding; they were called glossies. This bra is the reinvention and re-emergence of my very favorite bra. Comfortable, supportive, and perfect for small breasts." —MichelPrice: $58 (available in cup sizes A–DDD/F, band sizes 32–42, and in three colors) A triangle bralette crafted with a ~lounge rib~ fabric that is so cozy, it calls for an all-day TV marathon: a CW show, hot tea, popcorn, and this comfy top-bra hybrid.
