'The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon' Renewed for Fourth and Final Season as New Trailer Teases High-Stakes Journey in Season 3
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon fans got some big news on July 25 as they were treated to a new season 3 trailer and news that the show will soon be coming to an end.
At a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, the show's two stars, Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon himself) and Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier), and its creative team took to the stage in Hall H and brought with them the official trailer for the forthcoming third season, which premieres Sept. 7.
It was also revealed that the show was being renewed for a fourth season, but that would also be the series' final one.
The trailer begins with Daryl and Carol in the United Kingdom, where last season ended.
"So where did all the people go?" Daryl asks.
Viewers are then introduced to a new character, one played by Stephen Merchant, who answers, "You're looking at him. I'm it. You're looking at the last Englishman in England. I couldn't sail the boat alone."
Shots of Daryl and Carol sailing through London's iconic Tower Bridge with Merchant's character are then shown. Before long, though, they run into a storm that makes them crash onto a beach.

"This isn't Maine, is it?" Carol says.
Turns out they're in Spain, where they're introduced to new characters, a new landscape and new dangers.
The synopsis for season 3 notes that Carol and Daryl "continue their journey towards home and the only ones they love."
"As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse," it continues.
It was also announced that was renewed for its fourth and final season.
Reedus and McBride were joined onstage by Scott M. Gimple, executive producer and chief content officer of The Walking Dead Universe; David Zabel, executive producer and showrunner for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon; and executive producer Greg Nicotero.
Fans were told that season 4 will begin production this month, with the eight-episode final season filming in and around Madrid.
"It was, I guess, kind of always the plan to have this arc through France and through Spain, and the way it ends is very specific way," Reedus said on stage. "David's done a great job of outlining these two characters and their stories and where they go. And, you know, it's a it's bittersweet in a lot of ways, you know, and thank you to you guys."
"First off, we've had a very close connection with all of you and and a loyal fan base," he continued. "And it's like Greg said earlier, we would, you know, we started this show way back when, and we would come here and ... we were in the woods. We didn't know what was going on the outside world. So we come here, we get all this love, and it just made us work harder and and the show has just gotten better and better and better and better."
"It's been a real blessing to be able to to do this," he continued. "It's been such a big part of my life; it's something I've put so much work into and spent so many hours, weeks, months, years, thinking about it obsessively and trying to improve every single year."
"It taught me a work ethic I didn't think I had before, a passion I didn't think I had before I had done other parts. But to be able to be on screen playing one part this long is so rare," he added, noting that he cares about Darryl "tremendously" and will "miss all of it."
McBride chimed in: "We're all really proud of the work that we've done. Can't wait for you to see season 3 [and] look forward to season 4."
In a press release announcing the news, AMC boss Dan McDermott praised Reedus and McBride for having "given life to two of the most iconic characters in the history of television."
McDermott added that the duo have "taken fans on an unforgettable and intensely human journey of challenge, survival, hope and friendship."
Reedus called playing Daryl "an incredible journey."
"I thank each and every fan who has joined us on this ride. It's been a privilege to build this story for these characters, and we have so much gratitude for how it's been embraced," he said. "Your love and support have made every moment worth it. This finale isn't just an ending; it's a celebration of what we've all shared together. Keep carrying that love forward. Daryl's journey is far from over."
McBride called playing Carol and reuniting with Reedus on this The Walking Dead spinoff "the thrill of a lifetime."
"There is still so much story left to tell and so much for the fans to look forward to," she continued. "I'm going to revel in the moments as they come and am excited for the fans to see what we have been working on in these incredible locations."

New Bonnie Blue documentary includes footage from her controversial sex stunt
It was the tabloid story of 2024 when OnlyFans creator Bonnie Blue declared that she'd slept with over 1,000 people in 12 hours. Her stunt instigated a conversation around whether 26-year-old Blue, whose real name is Tia Billinger, was carving a new path for feminism or destroying the one that had been laid out for her. 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story airs on Channel 4 on Tuesday 29 July at 10pm and will explore the life of Blue around the time of the stunt and in the months following. It also features behind the scenes footage from the infamous event. Press material says: 'This resulting documentary goes behind the headlines, clickbait and ragebait to discover what life's really like in Bonnie's wild orbit, how she got here and what's really going on behind those steely blue eyes. 'The film sensitively explores the central question polarising debate about her: Is she a 'dangerous predator', pandering to male fantasies and perpetuating the patriarchy? Or an empowered, sex positive, businesswoman having the last laugh?' Read more: Director Victoria Silver added: 'Bonnie Blue refuses to conform to public opinion and lives life by her own rules. At a time when factual TV is awash with retrospective stories, I wanted to capture the energy of a live and evolving story, with a woman at the heart of it who's living her life in such a bold way.' Channel 4's Commissioning Editor Tim Hancock said the documentary includes 'incredible access' to a story 'at the edges of modern morality' that will leave the audience 'questioning their own presumptions' about one of the UK's most polarising people. In June of this year, Blue announced she would be running a 'petting zoo' event with the aim of allowing 2,000 men to have sex with her. She hoped to be tied up in a glass box for the stunt, which reportedly had her banned from OnlyFans on the grounds of it violating their policy against 'extreme challenges.' Charli xcx's Airport Fit Is a Lesson in London Cool Girl Style
Following her chic London town hall wedding in a classic Vivienne Westwood dress, Charli xcx quickly returned to her usual sleek yet subversive aesthetic. She was recently spotted heading to the airport in a strappy top, some microshorts, her trusty knee-high boots, and a go-to quilted YSL bag. (As a noted longtime fan of Anthony Vaccarello). A look more reminiscent of her Glastonbury headline performance. Photographed once again arriving at London's Heathrow Airport, the Brat superstar ticked off all the elements of a London cool girl outfit formula. She wore a clingy, black, off-the-shoulder top, with black capri pants, and a chunky silver buckle belt. On her feet, a pair of Maison Margiela tabi ballet flats—a shoe you'll see stomping all over east London's markets, in and out of the small plates and wine bars—and a black Balenciaga shoulder bag slung over her shoulder with a lilac scarf attached to the handle. Photo: Backgrid As always, she donned her Saint Laurent sunglasses. In tow, a duo of suitcases from celebrity favorite luggage brand, Rimowa.
