Backstage news on Randy Orton's Wrestlemania 41 plans

Express Tribune28-02-2025
Randy Orton is reportedly set to return to WWE in time for WrestleMania 41, following a prolonged absence due to injury.
According to PWInsider Elite, WWE officials expect Orton to be back in March, aligning with the company's "Road to WrestleMania" European tour.
Orton has been out of action since November after sustaining a cervical cord neurapraxia, following a piledriver from Kevin Owens. WWE later confirmed the injury, which has kept "The Viper" away from the ring.
If he returns as planned, Orton will compete at WrestleMania 41, marking his 19th appearance at WWE's biggest annual event. This would further cement his place behind Triple H (23 appearances) and The Undertaker (27 appearances) in all-time WrestleMania matches.
PWInsider reports that a potential match against Kevin Owens is the current plan for Randy Orton at Wrestlemania 41. Owens, who is currently set to compete in an unsanctioned match against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber, previously shared an alliance with Orton heading into WrestleMania 40.
The two helped Cody Rhodes combat The Bloodline, but Owens later turned on Orton at Bash in Berlin, leading to Orton's injury.
Orton has only missed two WrestleMania events since his debut at WrestleMania 20 in 2004, sitting out in 2016 and 2023. If he makes his return as expected, he will once again be part of WWE's marquee event, continuing his legacy as one of the company's top superstars.
WrestleMania 41 is scheduled for 19-20 April in Las Vegas, Nevada, and with Orton's potential return, anticipation continues to build for the event.

Drake reveals SSSniperWolf rejection during Adin Ross livestream

The Toronto rapper admitted he had reached out but received a polite decline. photo: file Drake revealed during Adin Ross' livestream on August 9 that he had been turned down by YouTuber SSSniperWolf, sparking a wave of online reactions. While chatting with Ross, the Toronto rapper admitted he reached out but got a polite decline. "I told her I'd come to the hotel, but she said she was with her family," Drake said with a laugh. Ross suggested he may have been the one to initiate the contact, adding another layer to the light-hearted exchange. Clips from the stream quickly spread online, prompting mixed responses from fans. Some poked fun at Drake, with one commenter joking, "Even Drake can't pull SSSniperWolf," while others defended him, noting that being with family was a valid reason. SSSniperWolf, whose real name is Alia Shelesh, is one of YouTube's most prominent gaming and lifestyle creators, boasting millions of subscribers and a massive social media following. Known for her gaming videos, reaction content, and vlogs, she has built a brand that blends humour, relatability, and pop culture commentary - making her one of the most recognisable figures online. The moment comes as Drake continues his "It's All A Blur — Big As The What?" European tour with J Cole. He was recently spotted walking the streets of Brussels during an off day and made headlines after postponing a Manchester show earlier this month due to unforeseen circumstances. Neither Drake nor SSSniperWolf has publicly commented on the clip since it began circulating, leaving fans to speculate whether the exchange was just playful banter or a genuine missed connection.

WWE ESPN deal explained: How much will it now cost to stream WWE PLEs in US starting from 2026?

ESPN and WWE announced a landmark deal on Wednesday, granting ESPN exclusive US rights to stream all WWE Premium Live Events (PLEs) starting in 2026. The agreement is a significant development for The Walt Disney Company, ESPN's parent company, and was announced through a press release. The media giant continues to expand its digital content offerings. Under the terms of the deal, WWE's marquee events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, the Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank, will be streamed live through ESPN's direct-to-consumer (DTC) service. Select events will also be simulcast on ESPN's linear platforms. ESPN also announced it would launch the new direct-to-consumer streaming service on August 21, priced at $29.99 per month, as reported by Variety. "WWE has an immense, devoted and passionate fanbase that we're excited to super-serve on our new ESPN DTC platform," said Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman of ESPN. The streaming service will not only feature the live events but also pre- and post-event shows to enhance the viewing experience. Breaking News: WWE Premium Live Events are headed to @espn platforms in the U.S. starting in 2026 — WWE (@WWE) August 6, 2025 This deal signals a major shift in WWE's media distribution strategy. Currently, NBCUniversal's Peacock holds exclusive rights to WWE's premium content through 2025, but this new arrangement with ESPN opens a new chapter for the company. "WWE's agreement with ESPN is a pivotal moment for our millions of fans across the United States: the leader in sports entertainment partnering with the biggest brand in sports media," said Nick Khan, President of WWE. As ESPN continues to ramp up its DTC offerings, this partnership will solidify its position in the competitive sports streaming market. The deal is part of a broader strategy as ESPN prepares to launch a comprehensive streaming platform, bringing its suite of networks and services directly to consumers. The deal also aligns with Disney's ongoing efforts to strengthen its streaming portfolio. The agreement, which also includes potential future acquisitions for ESPN, highlights the growing influence of sports media giants and their efforts to secure exclusive content to capture the attention of dedicated sports fans across the world. In related news, ESPN is also in discussions to acquire NFL Network, along with other NFL media assets, further expanding its sports content offerings.
