Manhunt underway after an attempted murder of a police officer in a hit-and-run
A male officer was deliberately hit by a silver Subaru Forester car while responding to an incident on Herries Avenue in the early hours of this morning (28 July 2025).
The male suspect shortly abandoned the vehicle near Catherine Field Road. The driver is described as slim to medium build, with dark hair cut at the sides. He was wearing a grey top, grey trousers and trainers.
The injured officer remains in a stable condition at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said: 'Our thoughts are with the officer, his family and colleagues at this time. We will continue to offer them all the necessary support.'This incident is being treated as attempted murder, and we will use all tools at our disposal to trace the person responsible.'I am asking anyone who may have seen the Subaru driving around the area around that time on Monday and in the few days before the incident to get in touch.'Similarly, anyone in the area at the time with dashcam footage should contact us.'
The police are urging anyone with information to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting the incident number 0022 of Monday, 28 July 2025.
