Former Kansas City Chiefs draft pick announces retirement after ten seasons
The Kansas City Chiefs' former offensive weapon has decided to call it a career this weekend, with intentions to begin a new life outside of football.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Veteran wide receiver Chris Conley, who most recently played for the San Francisco 49ers, has decided to retire after a ten-season career. The message was sent from his agent, Jonathan Perzley of Sport Stars NYC. Conley plans to return to film school at the University of Georgia to pursue his dream of being a filmmaker.
After being selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Conley spent four seasons in Kansas City. During his first stint from 2015 to 2018, he battled injuries and was in and out of the starting lineup. He notably played during the transition from Alex Smith to Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, missing out by a season on becoming a Super Bowl champion.
He made stops with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, and 49ers. He briefly had a second stint with the Chiefs in 2022 on the practice squad.

'This is what I wanted to do,' Carter said, via Dave Zangaro of 'I wanted to be the best at what I do, try to be the best. I'm not there yet. I still got a lot of people in front of me that's obviously been in the league a couple [more] years, got years of experience on me. But I'm just going to keep grinding every day. Not just me by myself working on specific things to get better, just being around the team having the guys support me also makes me also be one of the best in the league.' Repeating as Super Bowl champions is difficult, but it'll be a little easier if Carter can continue ascending as rapidly as he has the last two years.

NFL veteran receiver Chris Conley is leaving football to pursue his other passions. Conley, 32, announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons with a post on social media, explaining he's finally accomplished what he set out to do as a child. "When I was a kid I wrote down a set of goals. On that list was 'Play 10 years in the NFL.' Now that this goal has been accomplished it's time to set sights on something new," Conley, who spent the last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, wrote. "The past 10 years have been a dream. Getting the opportunity to play in the league was an honor and whether it was catching touchdowns or blocking for them I truly gave it my all." Conley's agent, Jonathan Perzley, told the NFL Network Conley will enroll at the University of Georgia to pursue his dreams of becoming a filmmaker. "God makes no mistakes and I'm thankful he proved this to me throughout my career," Conley's post said. "He is more than enough. See you in the next dream." A third-round pick out of Georgia, Conley was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he played four seasons. He also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans. Conley made his sole Super Bowl appearance against his former team, the Chiefs, in 2024. He caught one pass for 18 yards in the Niners' 25-22 loss. He finished his career with 226 receptions for 2,998 yards and 15 touchdowns.
