Panchayat's Ashok Pathak on being typecast: Nobody really wants to put in effort
Adding, he said, 'I used to feel bad because I kept getting Binod-like roles, and I turned them all down. Now, after Season 4, I hope people notice the intensity in my performance, because earlier, they only focused on the humour and comic sketch of my character. I'm flooded with messages from fans and well-wishers who've praised my performance. I want to take on different kinds of roles. Things are changing. There are now people who believe I can do more, and they've started placing their faith in me."What could be the reason behind this? When asked the actor what could possibly be the reason behind actors being stereotyped, Pathak stated that he is determined to break free from the stereotypes that have followed him since. He also spoke about the industry's tendency to typecast actors and how very few filmmakers are willing to challenge the status quo.'The problem is that nobody really wants to put in the hard work. Take Paresh Rawal, for instance, he was known for villainous roles for a long time until he got the chance to play Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in 'Hera Pheri'. That role changed the entire mindset of audiences, and now no one can imagine anyone else playing Baburao. Similarly, Amrish Puri sir was also known for similar roles until his powerful performances in 'Ghayal' and 'Ghatak' came along.'Adding, he said, 'I feel people often don't want to break these stereotypes. But there are some makers who love challenges and dare to cast actors in roles very different from what they've done before. Another great example is Pankaj Pahwa—just look at his stellar acting in films like 'Mulk' and 'Article 15'.'Meanwhile, Prime Video and The Viral Fever (TVF) have officially announced that 'Panchayat' will return for a fifth season, set to premiere in 2026. The decision follows the remarkable success of Season 4, which delivered the biggest opening in the series' history. Launched on June 24, the latest instalment has managed to receive rave reviews from fans and critics alike.'Panchayat Season 4', which premiered on June 24, featured Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, and others in pivotal roles.- EndsMust Watch

Coolie box office prediction: Tamil cinema's biggest Rs 1,000 crore gamble begins
Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' rampage is all set to begin! As the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is poised to mark its arrival in theatres on August 14, the excitement and euphoria are unmatched. Ever since the makers announced the cast, many have been pegging 'Coolie' as Tamil cinema's first-ever Rs 1,000-crore three days left for release, 'Coolie' has already crossed Rs 50 crore in pre-sales. Trade analysts predict that the film could make Rs 100-150 crore globally on its opening day. India Today Digital exclusively spoke to trade analysts in Chennai and Mumbai to gauge 'Coolie's' Rs 1,000-crore gamble and its performance across India and LIKELY TO OPEN AT RS 150-CRORE GLOBALLYSuperstar Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' is already smashing advance booking records. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film has grossed Rs 65 crore so far. "With three more days to go, 'Coolie' will easily cross Rs 100 crore in India and open at Rs 150 crore globally. The buzz surrounding the film is exceptional and is only increasing with each passing day," Bala told 'COOLIE'S' RS 1,000-CRORE MARCH BEGINSWill 'Coolie' become the first-ever Tamil film to cross Rs 1,000-crore mark? Bala claims that the film has all the potential to become Kollywood's Rs 1,000 crore-grosser. But, there's a observed, "'Coolie' has the long weekend advantage as it is releasing on a Thursday followed by the Independence Day weekend. Hence, it could easily make Rs 350-400 crore in its first week. 'Coolie' could rake in Rs 700 crore in the South. However, for the film to hit Rs 1,000 crore, it has to work in the Hindi market." Trade analyst Girish Wankhede exclusively told "The buzz for 'Coolie' is strong in North Indian market as well. It has an edge as the advance booking kickstarted on Saturday (August 9). There's a huge excitement around the masala pot-boiler, which is loved by the masses. It is no doubt that the Day 1 collection will shatter all records. "WILL 'COOLIE' VS 'WAR 2' CLASH DIM THE CHANCES OF RS 1,000-CRORE MILESTONE?'Coolie' will face competition from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's 'War 2', directed by Ayan Mukerji. Excitement around both films looks promising. Wankhede said that 'War 2' had a modest opening in terms of advance booking, but is likely to pick up in the coming claimed that both 'Coolie' and 'War 2' are sure-shot Rs 500 crore-grossers. But, the advantage now lies with the Rajinikanth-starrer. Elaborating further, he said, "'Coolie' has its footprint in the interiors as it is a mass film and not a class film. Usually, there is an appetite for two films during long weekends. For a film to succeed, a film has to cater to the majority. Hence, 'Coolie' has the edge, while 'War 2' is more urban-centric." Currently, 'Saiyaara' and 'Mahavatar Narsimha' are dominating the Hindi box office. "'Saiyaara', which has grossed Rs 500 crore globally, is steaming out. But, 'Mahavtar Narsimha' is still performing well. But, when 'Coolie' and 'War 2' hit theatres, it will automatically be occupied by these two films. Both films are sure-shot Rs 500 crore-grossers," explained WORD OF MOUTH FAVOUR 'COOLIE' IN THE NORTH?Ramesh Bala stated that 'Coolie' could dominate the box office in the South without any doubts. "But, it's potential to hit Rs 1,000-crore will depend on word-of-mouth. After two shows, if the word-of-mouth is positive, then everything else is a bonus," he Wankhede observed that 'War 2' is a film that will rely on word-of-mouth. "'War 2' will depend on word-of-mouth as it caters to urban audience. It's a niche market. However, 'Coolie' doesn't need word-of-mouth. It doesn't only have Rajinikanth, it also has Aamir Khan. 'War 2', a city-centric film, also has Jr NTR, a big advantage in the Telugu states. Eventually, films for mass consumption generate huge avenues. Even film has ups and downs, but for 'Coolie', it's all ups and no downs," stated Wankhede.'Coolie' has an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir and Aamir Khan in pivotal roles. Now, all eyes are on 'Coolie' and its big box office gamble.- EndsMust Watch
