Interdist smuggler held
The arrested smuggler has been identified as Sukhram Hassa Purti (22) of Sarvada Kevra village of Murhu police station area of Khunti district.
Sources said Chatra SP Sumit Kumar Agarwal received a tip off that a smuggler is active in the Bariatu area on Chatra-Hazaribagh road.
After the information, a raid team was formed under the leadership of Simaria sub divisional police officer Shubham Khandelwal. After this, the raid was conducted and thesmuggler was arrested with 2.225 kg of opium, a mobile and a backpack. The arrested youth was sent to judicial custody after an FIR was lodged under the NDPS Act against him.

The Kapurthala police have taken a notorious drug smuggler into one-year preventive detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS), officials said on Thursday. Preventive detention orders have been issued by the competent authority under Section 3 of the PIT-NDPS Act against Gurnam Singh, a resident of Sainchan village in Sultanpur Lodhi of Kapurthala district. 'Accused Gurnam has been detained under the PIT-NDPS Act for one year and has been sent to Central Jail, Bathinda, for strict monitoring,' he said. Toora said that Gurnam was also convicted in one case when he was arrested with 250 grams of heroin in 2016. 'Apart from this, the accused was arrested with 2 kg of heroin in March 2017, and 400 grams of heroin in September 2021,' he said.

State to adopt zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics: Dy CM Sharma
Raipur: Chhattisgarh will adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics, said Deputy Chief minister Vijay Sharma who also holds Home portfolio, chaired a review meeting of top cops at Secretariat on Thursday.
