Europe's stunning seaside town dubbed 'just like Ibiza'

Daily Mail04-06-2025
Known for its breathtaking beaches and wild parties, Ibiza is one of Europe's leading holiday destinations.
The Spanish Balearic island welcomes more than three million tourists every year.
But the island's popularity has also led to protests from locals, a new ban on driving and soaring prices.
Luckily, there's a cheaper alternative to Spain 's 'White Isle' and Brits won't have to travel far to find it.
According to research by Airbnb, a coastal town in Montenegro is the ideal spot to enjoy Ibiza-like luxury for less.
A spokesperson says: 'Brits are increasingly seeking vibrant fun-filled settings that offer the same bohemian charm and buzzing nightlife as Ibiza's White Isle - but without the hefty price tag.
'A picturesque coastal town with a Monaco-meets-Ibiza allure, Tivat offers luxury for less.
'The multimillion-dollar makeover that saw its pier turned into a chic marina could be causing its growth in popularity.'
Tivat's marina, Porto Montenegro, is a tourist hub with chic restaurants, bars and plenty of superyachts.
Once a naval base, the marina was transformed into one of Europe's glitziest destinations as part of a huge development project.
A reviewer on Tripadvisor describes the port as 'Little Monaco' while another praises its 'beautiful promenade'.
Away from the marina, tourists can explore the town's Maritime Heritage Museum to learn more about the area's coastal history.
When it comes to beaches, Plaza Ponta is one of Tivat's best-rated spots for a sunbathe.
A tourist writes on Google Reviews: 'Wonderful public beach. No umbrellas, sunbeds, music and other annoying amenities. Just the clear sea, wonderful views and outgoing people.'
And holidaymakers will also be ideally placed to explore some of Montenegro's other hotspots.
Tourists will find Kotor, a seaside town with a beautiful bay, just a half an hour's drive away from Tivat.
Perast, a gorgeous historic town that's drawn comparisons to Venice due to its architecture, is around 45 minutes away by car.
And a trip to Tivat won't break the bank. A local beer costs around €2.50/£2.10 with a cappuccino also coming in at under £3, according to Numbeo.
Temperatures can soar as high as 30 degrees in Tivat in July and August while it's generally sunny from April until October.
Both easyJet and Jet2 offer direct flights to Tivat from the UK while tourists can also fly to Montenegro's capital, Podgorica, and then take a transfer. The flight takes around three hours.

Nasdaq tumbles, European shares rise as investors digest Ukraine peace efforts

LONDON/SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Wall Street stocks fell, European equities rose and oil edged down on Tuesday as traders assessed the previous day's White House talks on the war in Ukraine, and looked ahead to a key meeting of central bankers. U.S. President Donald Trump said he hoped Russia's Vladimir Putin would move forward on ending the war in Ukraine but conceded the Kremlin leader may not want to make a deal. On Monday, Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy the United States would help guarantee Ukraine's security in any agreement to end Russia's war there, though the extent of any assistance was not immediately clear. Declines in Nvidia (NVDA.O), opens new tab and other heavyweight artificial intelligence stocks pulled the S&P 500 (.SPX), opens new tab down 0.6% and the Nasdaq (.IXIC), opens new tab down 1.5%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI), opens new tab ended roughly flat after briefly touching an all-time high. Europe's broad STOXX600 index rose 0.7% (.STOXX), opens new tab, outperforming Asian stocks (.MIAPJ0000PUS), opens new tab, which fell slightly. Europe's gains were capped by declines in defence names, with the STOXX Europe Total Market Aerospace & Defense index (.SXPARO), opens new tab down 2.6%, as traders saw the talks as a chance to take profit in the sector after a strong run. With any breakthrough in talks, "I think European stocks are likely the biggest winners, and within that framework, I think industrial companies, construction for rebuilding materials, and financial companies," said Michael Arone, chief investment strategist at State Street Investment Management. Losers could include shares in energy and defence after their recent gains, he said. Energy markets were also assessing the chance of an end of the war in Ukraine, and oil prices fell on speculation that progress in the talks could lead to the lifting of sanctions on Russian crude, boosting supply. The moves were not dramatic though, and some analysts said developments were unlikely to jolt oil and gas markets significantly. Brent crude futures were down 57 cents at 66.06 a barrel, with U.S. crude down 77 cents at $62.65. The other main event for markets this week is the Federal Reserve's August 21-23 Jackson Hole symposium, where Chair Jerome Powell is due to speak on the economic outlook and the U.S. central bank's policy framework. His remarks will be closely watched as the Fed grapples with sticky inflation and signs of slowing growth. Futures markets imply at least two 25 basis point rate cuts this year, reflecting a view that the Fed will not view inflation as a long-term problem. "There's an anxiety about Powell's comments at Jackson Hole," said Ross Mayfield, investment strategist at Baird Private Wealth Management. "Some investors fear the Fed is going to be a bit behind the curve and higher interest rates have a big impact on growth stocks." Trump has been pressuring the Fed to cut rates dramatically, and has publicly speculated about replacing Powell before his term ends next year. "The question is to what degree is the Fed happy to ignore the inflation data because they think it is distorted by tariffs," said Ian Samson, portfolio manager at Fidelity International. "If you look out one year, you're not going to have Powell as Fed chair, there are a couple of governors to replace, so the balance is clearly going towards people who are willing to look through tariffs, and thus continue to lower interest rates." Such a scenario would likely bode well for equities, help shorter-dated government bonds, and weigh on the dollar, though the impact for longer-dated bonds is less clear, said Samson, adding that he was largely avoiding the long end of the U.S. yield curve. The S&P 500 will end 2025 just below current near-record levels, reflecting tempered optimism amid ongoing concerns over the economic impact of Trump's global tariffs and uncertainty surrounding Fed's rate cuts, according to a new Reuters poll. Longer-dated yields have been rising worldwide in recent months. German and British 30-year yields have tested multi-decade highs, and the latter rose sharply late on Monday. Bond markets were calmer on Tuesday. U.S., German and British government bond yields all fell across their respective curves, with the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield down 3 basis points at 4.31%. The dollar index , which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies including the yen and the euro, was last up 0.15% on the day. Gold dipped 0.4% to $3,317.71 an ounce.

Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet REUNITE after 45 days as she visits him in Budapest where he's shooting Dune 3

Kylie Jenner and her boyfriend Timothee Chalamet were reunited after 45 days apart. The 28-year-old billionaire and the 29-year-old actor were spotted in Budapest where he is currently filming Dune: Part Three. This comes just days after the Daily Mail reported that the beauty 'secretly jets off to see him when she can.' The image was shared by employees at a coffee shop that were star struck by the Hollywood power couple. 'Today Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet just walked in to our coffeeshop at Buda we were so in confusion, we could barley concentrate, but i think you can see on our face,' wrote the woman behind the Instagram page Budapest Baristas. 'Thank god everyone look at them not us. They were super nice and kind thank you for coming @kyliejenner @tchalamet ❤️.' Timothee pulled his white T-shirt over his head to hide his current haircut for Dune 2 while adding a brown Brentwood Country Mart cap and black Oakley sunglasses as he held up a peace sign. A gold bangle bracelet hung from his wrist. Jenner looked sporty in a white tank top over a white one as she wore her thick raven hair down. She had on light makeup with a mauve-toned lip. The employees of the coffee shop looked young as they smiled for the camera. On July 19, Chalamet's Dune: Part Three costar Zendaya was seen at the same coffee shop. The last time Jenner and Chalamet were spotted together was on July 5, in St Tropez, France for a yacht vacation. Their time apart had fans wondering if they had split up, but the Daily Mail pointed out on August 15 that his work had taken him overseas while Jenner stayed home in Hidden Hills, California but went to visit when she could. The Daily Mail explained that Chalamet has been filming his next project, Dune: Part Three, in Hungary. The thespian plays the character Paul Atreides in the third installment of the Dune franchise. 'Timothee is busy making a movie and the schedule is grueling because he is in so many scenes, he is the star,' said a source. 'So he has to be very focused and together to do his best work.' And the Daily Mail shared that Jenner was supporting her love. 'She helps him out as much as she can, like give him space to work and have her private jet on standby in case he needs to go somewhere fast,' said the source. 'Kylie is a good girlfriend to him. She is always there and wants him to be happy, and if that means he has to be overseas for a few months, she is OK with it, she will wait. She also secretly jets off to see him when she can. 'Of course she misses her man and her heart hurts when he is not near, but she makes it work.' There has been shooting in Budapest for the third Dune film. Chalamet's costars are Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Florence Pugh and Jason Momoa. Dune: Part Three will be in theatres on December 16, 2026. The IMDB logline for the film is brief: 'The film follows Muad'dib, heir to unimaginable power, as he brings to fruition the ancient scheme to create a superbeing ruler among men, not in the heavens.' Dune Messiah is a 1969 science fiction novel by American writer Frank Herbert, the second in his Dune series of six novels. A sequel to Dune, it was originally serialized in Galaxy magazine in 1969, and then published by Putnam the same year. Jenner and Chalamet started dating in January 2023, were rumored to be an item in April 2023 and then they went public with their romance in September 2023. Their first red carpet together was at the 70th David Di Donatello event at Cinecitta Studios in Rome, Italy on May 7, 2025. In early July Jenner started following Chalamet on Instagram. The businesswoman boasts almost 400million followers on the photo-sharing site, but she is quite choosy about who she follows, with only 119 profiles making the cut. However, one of those is now her boyfriend of two years. Fans of TyMothée - the pair's most popular ship name - have been driven into a frenzy after spotting Kylie has allowed the A Complete Unknown actor into her close social circle. However, at the time of writing, the follow is yet to be reciprocated.
