I've Been Binging WLW Content Like It's My Job, And These 9 Movies And Shows Will Make Your Watchlist Gloriously Gayer
More specifically, I'm an "L" in the glorious LGBTQIA+ soup of ours. So while a lot of these picks lean in that direction, there's something queer for everyone here, I promise.
^ You after watching everything on this list, probably.
1. Even Cowgirls Get The Blues (1993)
Fine Line Features/ Everett Collection
Ok so get this: Uma Thurman plays a hitchhiking model who has ABSOLUTELY G-G-G-GINORMOUS THUMBS. She moves to a wellness ranch overtaken by lesbian cowgirls, where she takes a lover whose name is — are you ready — BONANZA JELLYBEAN! *collapses*
This film radicalized me. I too now want to move to a ranch with my lover. I too want to have thumbs the size of a paper towel roll. I've been living in a state of how come no one talks about this freak-ass movie since I saw it two months ago. So now I'm passing this onto you gays!!! 🫵
My warning: like maaaany movies of yesteryear, this film unfortunately has a few questionable (and inappropriate) character portrayals. On top of that, Roseanne Barr is in it for like three seconds. None of which I endorse!!! TO BE CLEAR!
2. Heavenly Creatures (1994)
A universal lesbian experience is going "I loooooove Melanie Lynskey." And whether your entry point to the ML fan club was lesbian classic But I'm a Cheerleader, lesbian classic Yellowjackets or even lesbian classic Coyote Ugly, may I suggest going right to the beginning of her career and watching her acting debut in lesbian classic Heavenly Creatures. It's ALSO Kate Winslet's acting debut, who you know from lesbian classic Ammonite or maybe even straight classic... Titanic.
For this film, may I direct you to my own personal Letterboxd review, which is simply:
"Teenage lesbian situationship ends in matricide directed by Peter Jackson...a movie made in a lab just or Bella..."
And perhaps therefore made in lab just for you too!
3. If These Walls Could Talk 2 (2000)
HBO Films
If you've ever seen screenshots of butch Chloë Sevigny (❤️❤️❤️❤️), it's most likely from this HBO film, the sequel to (aptly named) If These Walls Could Talk. While the original was an anthology that dove into abortion storylines, the second focuses on three different lesbian couples from different time periods.
And while you may recognize this movie from butch Chloë Sevigny (❤️❤️❤️❤️), did you know that there is ANOTHER STORYLINE featuring — you aren't ready for what I'm about to tell you — ELLEN DEGENERES and SHARON STONE. They play wives tryna have a baby. There are s*x scenes. And mama? It's jarring!!!!
4. D.E.B.S. (2004)
Samuel Goldwyn Films/ Everett Collection
Okay waittttt, I know D.E.B.S. is kinda Lesbian Filmography 101, right up there with cursed film Blue is the Warmest Colour, but it's a new watch for me. If it'll be a new watch for you too, it's kinda like a gay(...er) Charlie's Angels. There is LOTS of lezzing out in this campy spy movie, and if it's an enemies to lovers storyline you're looking for—this is the ONE!
5. Down With Love (2003)
20th Century Fox/ Everett Collection
This one's not necessarily queer in storyline, but rather queer in the sense of Renée Zellwegger and Ewan McGregor sing at the end. And also our Lesbian Grand Marshal Sarah Paulson is in it too.
6. Novitiate (2017)
Sony Pictures Classics /Everett Collection
Well, well, well, what do we have here? A gay nun movie featuring Margaret Qualley and (said in Tiffany Pollard's voice) DIANNA AGRON????? As someone who basically has a PhD in Gay Nun Movies (don't get me started on Benedetta) and a PhD in shipping Dianna Agron with whatever female co-star is closest to her in any given Glee scene, this movie certainly doooo scratch a certain itch!
7. Bound (1996)
GramercyPictures/ Courtesy Everett Collection
Probably one of the hottest movies of all time to ever star a character named CORKY (Gina Gershon). It's an erotic crime thriller featuring ultimate femme fatale (and friend of Sutton Stracke ofc) Jennifer Tilly. What's there not to love?
Now for a couple TV picks I've been loooooving:
8. Ghosting (2024—)
CBC
Everything in life benefits from being gayer—even ghost hunting shows. Meet Ghosting, a Canadian series that follows hosts Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan (along with a gaggle of celeb guests) as they travel across Canada to investigate the country's most haunted places.
This show is so dumb (compliment). Imagine you get invited to your weekly "gay guy music video night" but surprise! You all have to ghost hunt together in like, a mine. That's Ghosting. And it's ADDICTING. You can watch it on CBC Gem if you're in Canada, or stream it on Youtube if you're anywhere else.
9. Survival of the Thickest (2023—)
Netflix
I'm soooo glad Season 2 of Survival of the Thickest is out— and gayer than ever before, I may I add!!! Michelle Buteau is back as Mavis, and watching her and her friends navigate love makes for a very real (but very funny) watch. Throw Drag Race fave (and anti-fracker) Peppermint and Beverly Hills housewife Garcelle Beauvais into the mix, and you have the perfect bingable show.

Thousands gather to celebrate third Pride by the Harbourside
THOUSANDS of people gathered on Whitehaven Harbour to celebrate this year's Pride event. The third Pride by the Harbourside took place on Saturday with a parade led by the deputy lord lieutenant for Cumbria and the MP for Whitehaven and Workington, Josh MacAlister. A free concert was then opened by Eurovision icon Sonia and performances followed by boyband 911, Danish Eurodance group Cartoons and English house music duo Freemasons. The parade at Pride by the Harbourside (Image: Colin Johnston) Also taking to the stage were pop and dance artist Jan George, vocalist PJ Taylor and local acts including Logan Paul Murphy and Stella the Fella. Along the harbour were food stalls, information stalls, and a variety of family-friendly activities. For the first time, Rosehill Theatre hosted a community stage. The event, organised by Proud and Diverse Cumbria, attracted between 8,000 and 10,000 people to the harbourside. The parade at Pride by the Harbourside (Image: Colin Johnston) Glenn Anderson, director for Proud and Diverse Cumbria, said: 'It was fantastic. There was so much colour, so much vibrancy. The stallholders did tremendous trade. 'Most importantly, from my perspective, we provided an environment that was good for the mental health wellbeing of vulnerable and isolated people. That's our job done. 'The number of people dressed up, wearing glitter and carrying flags, there were thousands of people who were there associated with our event, not just visitors. That's a great thing because it evidences the need for these safe spaces to be created. The event brought colour and vibrancy to Whitehaven Harbour (Image: Colin Johnston) 'I equally wish to point out that Cumberland Council are doing a very good job addressing the rights of minority people. 'I have to publicly recognise that we have achieved some of the goals that we wanted to. I have to thank the people who are in power for listening that we all wanted was equality and parity. 'It's getting to the point that maybe the next event doesn't need to have a label. I don't want us to be segregated in any way. We are part of the community. Our focus going forward, is to continue integrating into the community. Josh MacAlister, the MP for Whitehaven and Workington, gives a speech at Pride by the Harbourside (Image: Josh MacAlister) 'Truly thanks to the harbour commissioners for allowing us each and every year to bring some colour and vibrancy to such a beautiful, historic, scenic location. We are extremely privileged that they grant us permission every year to do that. 'Thank you to the leader and deputy leader of the council, Mark Fryer and Emma Williamson, who have been great champions and have done what they pledged in their manifestos.' Josh MacAlister, MP for Whitehaven and Workington, said: 'It was an honour to help open the celebrations and to stand alongside so many friends, families, allies and neighbours in support of our LGBT+ community. The colour, the music, the joy, and - most of all - the sense of togetherness made me proud of what Pride represents. Josh MacAlister, the MP for Whitehaven and Workington, at Pride by the Harbourside (Image: Josh MacAlister) 'As Cumbria's first openly gay MP, I'll never take for granted the progress we've made, or the importance of events like this in showing that whoever you are, and whoever you love, you are welcome and valued here. 'Thank you to the organisers, volunteers and everyone who made the day such a success. Here's to many more years of Pride by the Harbourside - and to carrying that spirit of inclusion and equality with us every day of the year.'

Quentin Tarantino's Final Movie Gets Disappointing Update Amid Rumored Cast
Quentin Tarantino's final movie has received a disappointing update. Following the release of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019, Tarantino has announced that he intends to direct one more movie before retiring from filmmaking. Plot details regarding this project have remained highly under wraps, as Tarantino has also previously said that he's not in a rush to get the movie made. What is the latest update on Quentin Tarantino's final movie? Recently, rumors began spreading that Tarantino's final movie was going to begin filming this coming December. These rumors stemmed from a listing on Production List, which claims that Brad Pitt, Uma Thurman, and Samuel L. Jackson will all star in the project. The listing also lists Shannon McIntosh, David Heyman, and Stacey Sher as producers, Robert Richardson as cinematographer, Victoria Thomas as casting director, Arianne Phillips and Jacqueline West as costume designers, and Fred Raskin as editor. According to World of Reel, however, the information listed on Production List is false. 'Sources are telling me Tarantino is nowhere near finished the screenplay for his tenth film, and that in fact, he might not have even started writing it,' the publication's article notes. 'There are currently no plans to shoot anything this year.' While Tarantino fans wait to see what, exactly, his final movie will look like, it is known that David Fincher is directing a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Adventures of Cliff Booth. Pitt will reprise his role as the titular character in that movie, while the cast also includes Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena, and Corey Fogelmanis. Additionally, Timothy Olyphant is reprising his role as James Stacy. With the film currently in production, The Adventures of Cliff Booth does not have a release date from Netflix at this time. Hundreds celebrated at Charlotte Pride following Supreme Court petition to review same-sex marriage ruling
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Pride events this weekend turned Uptown Charlotte into a party. Large crowds came out to the parade on Sunday to celebrate. Organizers expected hundreds of thousands of people in the city for the two-day festival and parade. 'It's welcoming,' said Rayonna Lee Gutierrez, who just moved to Charlotte this summer. 'It's a fresh breath of air. It's a relief to bring me and my family to an area that supports.' A man who goes by Smokey said, 'I appreciate it because it gives us a time to bring everyone together. Everyone feels a part of something.' People at the parade told Queen City News a celebration like Pride is especially important at a time when things can feel unsettled in the LGBTQ+ community. This week, the Supreme Court was formally petitioned to reconsider and overturn its landmark gay marriage ruling. LEGAL ANALYST | 'I am gay. I have a wife of almost five years, and yes, it does seem fragile,' Lee Gutierrez said. 'There's a lot going on all over the world. I feel like even if you're not gay, if you're related to someone who's gay or you're friends with somebody who's gay, it's definitely a sensitive topic right now.' Parade organizers say any social justice movement will come with pushback. 'Right now we're facing some upheaval and some attack and some targeting of our community, and so we just have to keep going,' said Meredith Thompson, Charlotte Pride's managing director. Andrea Boone is from Charlotte and marched in the parade. 'We have to celebrate everybody, and I believe that today Charlotte showed out and showed love to the community, and it was beautiful,' she said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
