In a first, helipad proposed at Navi Mumbai's Lord Venkateswara temple awaits TTD nod
The donor, Raymond Consumer Care Limited, has requested the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to consider developing a helipad on Plot No 3, Sector 12, allotted by the Maharashtra government through the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO).
However, site engineers have informed Raymond that there is no provision or approval for a helipad in the commencement certificate issued by CIDCO.
Raymond has urged TTD to bring the matter to the attention of its management for a decision. TTD's Chief Engineer noted in official files that a helipad could serve as an emergency service provision and a secure entry-exit point for VVIPs, significantly reducing travel time. However, TTD Executive Officer J Shyamala Rao clarified that the proposed helipad would not be part of the core temple construction but within the temple premises.
'No permission has been granted yet for setting up of helipad at Lord Venkateswara temple in Navi Mumbai, as we are evaluating all parameters, including Agama Shastras,' Shyamala Rao told TNIE.

Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams , the world's richest temples trust which administers the affairs of 60 Hindu shrines across the country, is planning to build its first temple in the northeastern part of India soon. TTD chairman BR Naidu set the proposal in motion when he met Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati on Friday and discussed the temple trust's plans to build a Lord Balaji temple in the Assam capital. Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed TTD to speed up the process of establishing at least one temple of Lord Venkateswara in every state across the country and also explore the possibility of building Hindu temples overseas. Accordingly, the TTD chairman and his entourage met the Assam CM and sought his support in building the first temple of Lord Venkateswara in the country's northeast region, starting with Guwahati. Biswa Sarma promised to allocate five acres to TTD for the temple, and also assured that Assam govt will extend all necessary support to TTD in addition to land allocation. Explaining the spiritual significance of Maa Kamakhya temple in Assam, Biswa Sarma said the Lord Venkateswara temple in Guwahati will immensely benefit Hindu devotees in northeast India. TTD has already built temples in Uttarakhand (Rishikesh), Haryana (Kurukshetra), New Delhi, Odisha (Bhubaneshwar), Maharashtra (Mumbai), Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Kankyakumari, Vellore), Telangana (Hyderabad), Karnataka (Bangalore), and Jammu.

Navi Mumbai: Cidco began crafting a Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for Navi Mumbai and the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) regions. This initiative seeks to establish sustainable and inclusive transport solutions extending to 2054. The programme emphasises safety, efficiency, and environmental consciousness whilst connecting various transport modes and encouraging public transit usage. According to Cidco, the plan takes an all-encompassing view, considering public transport, private vehicles, and non-motorised options like walking and cycling, whilst addressing urbanisation challenges. "With projects such as Navi Mumbai International Airport, Corporate Park, Aerocity, Edu City, Logistic Park, and Medicity, along with residential and industrial growth, traffic volume in Navi Mumbai is set to rise substantially. In this backdrop, the Comprehensive Mobility Plan will serve as a guiding framework for Cidco and other authorities to develop a versatile, inclusive, and future-ready transportation system," said Vijay Singhal, vice chairman & managing director, Cidco. Tirupati Board Seeks Land For Sri Venkateswara Temple In Assam
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has requested Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to allocate five acres of land in Guwahati for the construction of a Srivari temple in the state capital and expand the spiritual footprint of Sri Venkateswara Swamy in the north east. Mr Sarma has assured full support for the project and confirmed to TTD chairperson BR Naidu that the state government would allocate the requested land to facilitate the construction. He expressed his appreciation for the initiative taken by the Andhra Pradesh government and the TTD Trust Board, led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. He added that the upcoming Srivari temple would be a "magnificent spiritual center" and would promote Hindu dharma, culture and traditions across the region. Highlighting Assam's rich religious heritage, the Chief Minister spoke about the spiritual significance of the Kamakhya Devi temple and hoped that the Srivari temple would become a beacon of devotion and unity for devotees in the north east. The TTD will likely finalise design, planning and associated stationing of temple management in collaboration with Assam authorities. This temple is expected to follow the architectural, ritual and administrative norms used in earlier TTD expansions, ensuring consistency while accommodating local culture. The proposed temple, to be constructed under the aegis of TTD, is expected to strengthen religious and cultural ties while offering a new spiritual destination for devotees in the region. The meeting today aligns with TTD's larger strategy, as decided in recent board meetings, to significantly expand its temple footprint across India and internationally. In December 2024, the TTD Board approved the formation of an expert committee to oversee global expansion. In March 2025, the TTD formally wrote to chief ministers, requesting at least 10 acres of prime land in various state capitals for new Srivari temple projects. The letter emphasised both spiritual outreach and the role of temple tourism in regional development. The Board has reportedly set aside Rs 5,258 crore to pursue temple construction in India and overseas, with a dedicated trust to oversee international temple projects. In July 2025, the TTD formed a sub-committee to evaluate feasibility and launch temple construction in various countries, based on earlier expert recommendations.
