It seems that the police are working under BJP pressure to protect the accused as no arrests have been made yet," he said.
Alleging that the violence occurred due to the negligence of govt, he said: " Even during the Babri demolition in 1992, Fatehpur maintained cultural harmony. BJP is trying to tarnish the image of Fatehpur." Rai questioned why no action was taken against BJP functionary who instigated the crowd to demolish the mausoleum. "Despite open instigation, the police took no action. Police intervention could have preserved peace in Fatehpur.
The failure of police was evident as rioters reached the site and vandalised it."
Taking a jibe at the govt's "zero tolerance" policy, Rai questioned its effectiveness, alleging that BJP men were involved in the incident.

‘BJP should issue ‘reason docu' on unfulfilled vows'

1 2 Lucknow: Taking a jibe at govt's 'Vision 2047' document, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said the BJP should instead come out with a 'Reason Document' to explain why the party failed to fulfill a single promise that it had made in run up to previous elections in the past decade. The BJP govt tabled its 'Vision 2047' document before the UP assembly on Wednesday afternoon for debate in a special 24-hour long marathon session that will conclude on Thursday. "The only 'vision' that the BJP has is ways to mislead the people, spread hatred among different communities and use govt projects to feed corruption and destroy constitutional institutions," he said. The former UP CM said: "People of the state are waiting for the BJP and its associates to present a detailed account of reasons behind the party and govt's failure to fulfil even a single promise that they have made before the elections in the past 10 years. The BJP has no place to hide. This 'Vision document' is another plot to sell dreams to the people." He cited promises like doubling the income of farmers, jobs for youth, free electricity for farmers and pointed out that healthcare infra-structure, law and order machinery and education sector were in shambles and schools are being closed. "The fact remains that BJP does not have any vision whatsoever for the future of the people in UP. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like When Knee Pain Hits, Start Eating These Foods, and Feel Your Pain Go Away (It's Genius) Read More Undo If they had any vision for a better future, they would have set-up power stations, improved roads and built dams to contain floods. But nothing has happened at any of these fronts," the SP president said. "BJP's politics of hate and discrimination has led to discontent among people. People have seen through the destructive work culture of the BJP where injustice and exploitation is at its extreme. Justice is elusive for every section of the society. The situation has come to a pass that the BJP is scared to face the people of the state," the SP chief said. He said instead of working for the betterment of the poor, the BJP had taken steps which had hit the deprived and the neglected the hardest. "All govt departments are being sold off to private entities. Government educational institutes are being shut to pave way for private ones to systematically do away with reservation in jobs," he said. BJP resumes CAA camps in state, TMC questions timing

Kolkata: The state BJP unit has launched camps to assist people with registrations under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). While a few districts began CAA camps before the Lok Sabha polls in 2024, they drew little response at the time. On Wednesday, Union minister Sukanta Majumdar organised a camp at Alipurduar. "Aadhaar Card was implemented during the UPA regime. Aadhaar clearly states that there is no proof for citizenship. Since independence, there has not been any proof for the citizenship of an Indian. It was not done and it is time to rectify that. TMC has been trying to fool people over the issue," Majumdar said. "After the citizenship date is accepted, the person's property and income will be considered valid from that day," he said. "People have been attending the CAA camps. They are also concerned about the special intensive revision of the voters' list. They have seen what happened in Bihar. Now they understand the importance of the CAA," said Ashim Biswas, BJP MLA from Ranaghat North East constituency. "There is no fixed target or timeline to the camps. However, camps have been organised in at least five locations in the past fortnight," said a Bengal BJP functionary. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Europe Travel Hack That Saves You Hundreds on Trips! "We don't know what they are trying to achieve through the camps. CAA was announced more than a year back. Suddenly, the BJP has started holding camps. They are trying to distract people from the trouble they are going to face when the SIR is rolled out," said Braja Kishore Goswami, TMC MLA from Shantipur. Bongaon municipality chairman Gopal Seth has already lodged a complaint with the ministry of home affairs, alleging corruption in issuing CAA certificates. "BJP workers are demanding money for issuing certificates and getting them notarised. There is no parameter which is being used to issue these certificates," said Seth. Bill proposing online registration of govt-allotted land, mortgages passed

Bengaluru: The assembly Wednesday passed the Registration (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2025, paving the way for online registration of land parcels allotted by govt agencies using the digitised signature of the sub-registrar — without human intervention. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The bill also enables online registration of property mortgages for bank loans and their release upon repayment. However, in transactions between private parties, the current system requiring the personal presence of the seller and buyer before a sub-registrar, will continue. Revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who piloted the bill, said the aim was to simplify the registration process through electronic means for secure properties such as those allotted by agencies like Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Karnataka Industrial Area Development Authority (KIADB). Registration will also cover title deeds issued by tahsildars under govt schemes such as 'bagar hukum'. "Registration through digitised signature of the registration officer is applicable for three categories of properties: Land allotted by agencies such as BDA, land rights issued by tahsildars and pledge entry and release in nationalised banks. The existing process of registration for any other categories continues as is," Gowda said. He said the reform was prompted by rampant irregularities in property registration using fake documents such as manual khata. The amendment aims to automate processes such as updating loan closures in the Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops (RTC) to avoid delays and human interference. "We brought in e-khata to eliminate registration using fake paper documents," Gowda said. "While the high court has said the sub-registrar need not physically verify documents, we introduced an amendment that took 14 months to secure presidential assent. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Now, we have introduced registration based on the digitised signature of the sub-registrar in order to simplify the registration process and make it people friendly. " Opposition members welcomed the bill but stressed the need for robust IT systems. They flagged issues with e-khata services in bodies such as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). BJP member SR Viswanath also urged the govt to include Ashraya houses and other housing schemes meant for the poor in the proposed digital registration. "People seeking e-khata are fed up, as officials of local bodies say the server is down," said BJP's S Suresh Kumar who represents Rajajinagar in Bengaluru. "The govt must ensure proper IT infrastructure, otherwise it would not just lead to harassment but corruption." Recalling a bizarre case, Kumar said: "The CM of a northern state had produced a railway platform as a collateral security to take a loan from a cooperative bank." Acknowledging these concerns, Gowda cited an instance of a miscreant who tried to pledge Vidhana Soudha and assured that efforts were on to strengthen IT infrastructure to ensure smooth e-khata services.
