"The Summer I Turned Pretty" Trivia And Easter Eggs
The Summer I Turned Pretty is one of the most significant teen shows of the decade — and with Season 3 coming out soon, it's the perfect time to dive into the show's behind-the-scenes lore.
Here are some interesting facts and Easter eggs you won't want to miss...
Lola Tung and Chris Briney, who play Belly and Conrad, had to do their chemistry test over Zoom back in 2021 when the series was in pre-production.
And they nailed it! 🔥
Lola fractured her foot while filming the very first episode of Season 1.
"We were filming the flashback scene," she revealed. "We were running around the table and I jumped to grab the muffin from Sean and I landed weird and fractured my foot."
The show is set in Cape Cod but is filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, which is a hotspot for teen TV — iconic series Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, and the more recent show Outer Banks were also filmed there.
Jenny Han, who is both the creator of the show and the author of the books it's based on, has a cameo in each season — in Season 1, she appears at the deb ball, and in Season 2 she's a customer at the gas station.
Keep your eyes peeled for her in Season 3.
Taylor Swift features heavily on the soundtrack for The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is a nice full-circle detail, considering Jenny Han says she listened to Taylor's album Fearless on loop while writing the original books.
Some of Belly's looks in Season 1 were directly inspired by Olivia Hussey as Juliet in the 1968 film version of Romeo and Juliet.
Lola Tung went to high school with two of her co-stars — David Iacono, who plays one of her love interests, Cam, and Sean Kaufman, who plays her brother, Steven.
The three of them attended LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
The cast seems to have as much fun on set as their characters do — between filming, they do things like play baseball, play chess, game, go on picnics, and have pillow fights.
Although they do have tense moments too — Chris revealed Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah, didn't talk to him after he went "too far" filming a Season 2 scene where Conrad is mean to Jeremiah and Belly.
Chris apologized and made up with Gavin.
Gavin credits spending all his time at the beach playing beach volleyball and swimming in the ocean with giving him such incredible curls.
Jenny Han says she drew on the movie Beaches for inspiration for the platonic soul mates story of Susannah and Laurel.
Laurel's memoir being named It's Not Summer Without You is not only an emotional tribute to Susannah, it's a nod to the title of the second book in Jenny Han's original series.
There's a small moment in a Season 2 flashback where Laurel knocks over letters Susannah is writing to her sons — foreshadowing a mix-up with them that is a major plot point in book 3 and, presumably, Season 3.
Season 2 had all female directors across its eight episodes.
Zoe Cassavetes directed Episodes 1 and 2, Isabel Sandoval directed Episodes 3 and 4, Sophia Takal directed Episodes 5 and 6, and Megan Griffiths (pictured above) directed Episodes 7 and 8.
In the final episode of Season 2, both Belly and Conrad are bathed in warm light in the motel, while Jeremiah is in the cool lighting — suggesting Belly's heart is ultimately still with Conrad.
The Season 3 teaser poster visually references the movie Sabrina.
The characters actually go to see Sabrina at the drive-in in Season 1. Like The Summer I Turned Pretty, it's about an "ugly ducking" who gets a glow-up and is pursued by two rich brothers she's grown up with. Many fans believe the poster is a hint that Belly will definitely choose Conrad in the show, like Sabrina chooses Linus (Humphrey Bogart's character).

20 Celebrity Couples Who Dated In The 2000s
Twenty years ago, mega celebrity couples roamed the earth: There was Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner (hot on the heels of his first breakup with Nick Lachey and Jessica 'Is It Chicken Or Is It Fish?' Simpson. But those are the ones everyone remembers. To really jog our memory, we thought we'd take a look back at celebrity couples we'd all almost forgotten were an item back in 2005. Let the nostalgia (and feeling old) begin: Jessica Biel and Chris Evans Before he put on spandex and made it big as Captain America, Chris Evans dated Jessica Biel from 2001 to 2006. Here, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre co-stars attend a Halloween party at the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles. So much for costumes! Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz Post-Britney and pre-Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake dated Cameron Diaz for about three years. The couple reportedly met at the 2003 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, where Timberlake was picking up the award for "Best Burp," an award presented by Diaz, who had won a few years before. How romantic! Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling Look away, Eva Mendes! Before Ryan Gosling married Mendes, he had girlfriend Rachel McAdams hopping into his arms at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. The pair, who dated from 2005 until 2007, were accepting the reward for "Best Kiss" for their lip locking in The Notebook. Derek Jeter and Vanessa Lachey Before she was hosting Love Is Blind (with now-husband Nick Lachey), Vanessa Lachey (Née Minnillo) was giving love a chance with Yankees great Derek Jeter. The pair were in an on-and-off relationship from 2003 until 2006. Keira Knightley and Jamie Dornan From 2003 to 2005, Keira Knightley and future 50 Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan were arguably the hottest couple in the British Empire. Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush got married in 2005, though you might have forgotten because it only lasted five months. Here, the One Tree Hill co-stars stop by MTV's TRL — another relic from a bygone time. Kanye West and Alexis Pfeiffer Kanye West's first high-profile romance was with fashion designer Alexis Pfeiffer. Here, the pair, who dated from 2002 to 2008, pose at an event with Kim Kardashian, Ye's future wife. Not awkward at all! Kate Moss and Pete Doherty An all-time-great Messy Couple, Kate Moss and musician Pete Doherty started their two-year on-again, off-again relationship in 2005. Here they are at the Glastonbury Festival that same year. Hilary Duff and Joel Madden Hilary Duff and Joel Madden of the band Good Charlotte dated from 2004 to 2006. The pair allegedly started dating when he was 25 and she was 16, which, uh, no comment. Chris Pratt and Emily VanCamp Chris Pratt and Emily VanCamp, who played onscreen siblings on Everwood, dated from 2004 to 2007. Here, the pair attend a Xbox 360 Gears of War party — a very early-aughts event. Chris Klein and Katie Holmes Katie Holmes had quite a wild 2005: She began the year engaged to longtime boyfriend Chris Klein. By March, the pair had called off the engagement. A month later, she was spotted canoodling — a classic 2005 tabloid term — with A-lister Tom Cruise, whom she'd go on to marry and divorce. Scarlett Johansson and Josh Hartnett A baby-faced Scarlett Johansson and Josh Hartnett dated briefly in 2005 while making the neo-noir The Black Dahlia. Bow Wow and Ciara She's happily married to New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson today, but in 2005, singer Ciara was dating rapper Bow Wow. Mandy Moore and Zach Braff Mandy Moore and Zach Braff dated from 2004 to 2006 during a blonde moment for Moore. Josh Groban and January Jones Singer Josh Groban dated Mad Men actor January Jones from 2003 to 2006. Groban — like Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows before him and Pete Davidson today — is one of those secret I've-dated-everyone-Hollywood types: The crooner has also been linked to Katy Perry, Kat Dennings, and Selma Blair. Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn On the heels of her divorce from Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston dated Vince Vaughn, her co-star in The Breakup, for about a year. The pair — inelegantly called Vaughniston by the tabloids (yeah, that never got on the same way Brangelina did) — broke up IRL in 2006. Jude Law and Sienna Miller Jude Law and Sienna Miller were on-again, off-again from 2003 to 2011. The pair were very publicly off again in 2006, after Law allegedly had an affair with his children's nanny. (We forget now, but 2005 was smack-dab in the middle of the era when everyone was having an affair with the nanny.) Renée Zellweger and Kenny Chesney Renée Zellweger and country singer Kenny Chesney had a blink-and-you-miss-it marriage in 2005: The marriage lasted all of four months, with Zellweger filing for an annulment, mysteriously citing 'fraud' as the reason for the split. Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth Orlando Bloom — looking very swashbuckle-y in his Pirates of the Caribbean era — dated Kate Bosworth from 2002 to 2005. Finally, Nas and Kelis Nas and singer Kelis were married from 2005 to 2010. After their divorce, the Queens-born rapper posed with Kelis' wedding dress on the cover of his 2012 album 'Life Is Good." (Because nothing screams "over it" like posing on an album cover with your ex's wedding dress.) This article originally appeared on HuffPost.

Jessica Alba Planning Family Trip With Cash Warren Following Divorce: ‘Conscious Uncoupling'
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren are keeping things civil in the wake of their divorce, as evidenced by their cozy family get together over Easter, and a source exclusively tells Life & Style that they're looking to follow up with cozy getaways in the months ahead – much to the relief of their three young kids. 'As much as Jessica is embracing change for herself, she's still very concerned about maintaining as much of the status quo for her kids as she can. Doing holidays with Cash feels like an important tradition to try to maintain,' Life & Style's insider explains. 'Hayes is only 7, he wants both his parents there when he does his Easter egg hunt. Honor and Haven are teenagers but it's still important for Jess that they feel they have some semblance of a family.' To maintain their family bond, the Honey actress, 44, 'wants them all to take a family trip together somewhere.' Of course, the dynamic would look different than before. The insider shares that the family 'can rent a villa so they can have separate rooms, she's got no designs on getting back together, this is really for the kids more than anything.' 'She's following Gwyneth [Paltrow's] advice on conscious uncoupling and a family trip is something she and Chris did after their divorce that was very healing,' the source continues. 'Jessica loves what Gwyneth has created with Chris [Martin] and would love to have that with Cash. They are best friends, she doesn't see why they need to totally chuck out their relationship, it just needs to transform into something new.' Jessica and Cash, 46, separated in December 2024 and both parties filed for divorce two months later. Despite pulling the plug on their 16-year marriage, the former couple have maintained a united front for the kids. The family matriarch shared photos of their lovely Easter celebration on April 20, which included a precious family snapshot and other pictures of their petting zoo and Easter egg hunt. While closing one door on her marriage with Cash, Jessica is ready to 'have some fun' on the market. 'This has been over between Cash and Jessica in a romance sense for a long time. She even said it straight up – they became like roommates,' a second insider exclusively told Life & Style in a story published on March 13. 'Things have wrapped up with no ugliness, so that's not weighing her down. As far as divorces go, it's going smoothly.' The second source also noted that Jessica's public presence 'will be to socialize and network, but also to meet quality guys.' 'No doubt plenty of high-profile men will use the classic Hollywood way and have their managers reach out to her team and go that route, and she will be open to that,' the second insider continued. 'She's not ruling out dating a regular guy, but she's taking her friends' advice and plans to try dating someone at her level of celebrity. They're all telling her that it will be a better power balance and rule out some of the issues she had with Cash.' Two months later, the Fantastic Four star was spotted with a mystery man in London. Jessica was captured on camera as she got a massage from the man, who was covered up in a hoodie and baseball cap.

Security Guard Diddy Paid $100K For Cassie Assault Video Testifies As Screaming Woman Forcibly Removed From Court
Source: Variety / Getty Diddy's sex trafficking and racketeering trial has largely been supported by victim testimonies, text messages and photos like the ones of Kid Cudi's burned Porsche, but the most damning has been the video. The video of Diddy beating and dragging his then girlfriend, Cassie, through the hallways of a California hotel made its way through the court of public opinion, and now it's the subject of the latest person to testify against him. Eddie Garcia, who worked at the InterContinental in Los Angeles in March 2016, took the stand to tell the story of how much Diddy never wanted the tape to see the light of day. According to NBC News , he remembers clocking in to work that day, brought up to speed about the assault, but 'was told Ms. Ventura did not request the presence of police or medical attention.' In the days after the assault, Diddy's team began to understand the video's potential damage, as former chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, repeatedly called the hotel to get the footage, and eventually Diddy himself, who tried to justify his actions. 'He was talking really fast, a lot of stuttering,' Garcia remembers Diddy saying, adding that he was ' just saying he had a little too much to drink.' Garcia said Diddy also told him, 'With women, one thing leads to another, and if this got out, it would ruin him.' Garcia says that Diddy was willing to pay for the sole copy of the footage, and his boss agreed to a $50,000 fee. 'He referred to me as 'Eddy, my angel,'' Garcia said. The deal came together as he got on a FaceTime call with Diddy and Ventura, who Diddy told to say she also wanted the video to disappear. The security guard was then told to sign a $1 million penalty NDA, —which was later presented in court— and Diddy walked into a room with a money counter and $100,000 in a brown paper bag. Combs said he doubled the original amount so he could split it with the other security guards who were aware of the situation. Combs warned him not to make any large purchases so as not to draw attention to himself, so he spent the money on a used car. He even contacted Garcia weeks later to ask him if there had been any rumblings about the video, telling him, 'Happy Easter. You are my angel. God is good. God put you in my life for a reason.' Prior to Garcia's account of Diddy paying him off, there was a disruption in the courtroom when a woman in the gallery, who claimed to be a transit employee, began acting up. 'Everyone is laughing at Diddy! It's not right what they're doing to him!' she screamed as U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian instructed her to be removed.
