Bridgerton star was cut from Brad Pitt's new F1 movie, says director
A famous star from hit series Bridgerton was all set to star in new sports epic Brad Pitt movie – until their part was cut.
Simone Ashley, 30, who also rose to fame on TV as part of the cast of Netflix coming-of-age drama Sex Education, joined the cast of upcoming film F1 in 2024.
Eagle-eyed fans had spotted her at Silverstone – the home of British racing – around the time that her filming for F1 was thought to have taken place.
However, the movie's director Joseph Kosinski has now revealed that, while the Bridgerton actress will appear in some scenes, she won't be speaking any lines.
Despite playing Kate Sharma – one of the main characters from the Netflix period drama – it seems her fame among Bridgerton viewers wasn't enough to keep her in the film.

Joseph said: 'It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use. There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn't make into the final cut.'
He told People: 'But Simone, she's an incredible talent, incredible actress, incredible singer, and I would love to work with her again.'
The racing film – set for release at the end of June – follows the story of Brad's character Sonny Hayes, who returns to racing long after a serious crash.
When Javier Bardem's character Ruben approaches Sonny, he's tasked with mentoring a young rookie driver named Noah Pearce (Damson Idris) for a new Grand Prix team.

Made on an estimated budget of $200million (£147m), F1 is one of this year's most anticipated new releases, with director Joseph having helmed the most recent Top Gun film, Maverick.
The film is expected to reach a length of 156 minutes, which makes it almost half-an-hour longer than £1billion-gross comeback film Top Gun: Maverick.
Despite not appearing in F1, Simone has been keeping busy with filming for the fourth season of Bridgerton, which is expected to come out in the first quarter of 2026.
The upcoming eight episodes of season four are set to be adapted from the third book in the Julia Quinn novel series, An Offer from a Gentleman.
So far, the series has adapted first novel The Duke and I, second novel The Viscount Who Loved Me, and fourth novel Romancing Mister Bridgerton.
The Bridgerton series, which comes from Shonda Rimes' Shondaland production house, has been following the books slightly out of order in order to better serve the TV characters.
Fans had been worried that Simone wouldn't be making an appearance as Kate in the fourth season of Bridgerton, but the actress confirmed she would be coming back. More Trending
'I know that I am returning. I absolutely adore the show, and the more I can be a part of it, the better. They've been really kind to work around my schedule.'
And in an interview with People, she promised Netflix fans that they would be seeing a lot of Kate and her new husband Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) in season four.
When she was asked if viewers should expect to see more of them in future episodes, she replied: 'Totally, always. I think so.'

Phenomenal 28 Years Later is the first horror film to make me cry
I don't remember the last time a horror film started with the Teletubbies, but 28 Years Later wins the award for the most impactful use of the famous British kids' TV show's opening – as well as the most upsetting. It should also win awards as one of the most triumphant ever revitalisations of a franchise that transcends the idea of mere genre. 28 Years Later is the most heart-wrenching, emotionally involving horror film I have ever watched, while also turning up the gore and terror to 11. Plunging straight into a bloody and violent opening, it seems like this could be a nightmare to begin with – but it's not. And this won't be the last time you have that rather desperate wish while watching this movie. Original 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland firmly take the reins once again for a follow-up to the film that cemented their careers in 2002. Like the less well-received 28 Weeks Later in 2007, which Boyle and Garland only executive-produced, 28 Years Later is not a direct sequel. With the British mainland now quarantined – and patrolled by boats – survivors have been left to fend for themselves in the intervening years, including a small island community that has protected itself thanks to its connecting causeway, only traversable at low tide. Here, 12-year-old Spike (brilliant newcomer Alfie Williams) is taken on his first hunting mission to the mainland by his father Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who is determined to toughen his son in the face of danger and death. We discover how the Infected have evolved too, from the blubbery, bald strain who creepily crawl along the ground, slurping up worms, to the advent of Alphas, who are bigger, stronger and meaner. They have the intelligence to hunt more stealthily – and also the truly hideous habit of 'despining' their victims. Everything about 28 Years Later is more extreme than its predecessors, but particularly when it comes to its gruesomeness and scariness, from each death being a blood-spattered snapshot at the moment of the kill, to the horrors of a carved-up victim hung by his ankles and choking on the bag slowly gathering his blood that's tied over his head. I hope you're not squeamish. The tension is also exquisite, with a pursuit scene that manages to be both heart-pounding and beautiful thanks to Young Fathers' haunting soundtrack combining with stunning shots of the starry night sky, pinpoints of light and water spray, creating an almost psychedelic experience. It's truly incredible what Boyle has managed to capture on the screen with returning cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle, especially when the film was largely shot on iPhones. Spike's vulnerable mother Isla (Jodie Comer) then sparks the determination in him to embark on a quest with her for a cure to her undiagnosed illness, putting them on the path to meet fellow survivor Dr Kelson (Ralph Fiennes), who is on his own memento mori mission. An oddball but compassionate figure, the character of Kelson helps emphasise the close connection to death necessary in this world. The perspectives crystalised in such an extreme post-apocalyptic scenario are deftly intertwined, which also then cracks the audience open for the emotional damage yet to come. 28 Years Later is a brutally moving film, and the first horror movie to make me cry. More Trending It's also a phenomenal piece of cinema, and just when you think it's all over, the ending introduces a very uncomfortable reference for British audiences in Jack O'Connell's late-arriving character. He tells Spike, 'let's be friends', and you'll immediately be worried, but it tees up fans perfectly for what fresh horrors await in January's sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. 28 Years Later is out in UK cinemas on Thursday, June 19. Rob Brydon makes announcement over future of The Trip The comedian and actor will be joined by Steve Coogan once again in a brand new series of The Trip Rob Brydon will be reprising his role in the sitcom series The Trip (Image: Getty Images ) Gavin & Stacey star Rob Brydon's series The Trip has been renewed for a new series. The Trip, in which the actor stars alongside fellow comedian and actor Steve Coogan, will return for its fifth series titled The Trip to the Northern Lights. According to Sky the brand new series will be in six parts and will see the duo travel the Scandinavian countries. They will also be rejoined by renowned British director Michael Winterbottom, who was also behind This England and 24 Hour Party People. Both Coogan and Brydon play fictionalised versions of themselves in the sitcom show, which follows them on their travels as they stay in hotels, dine in plush restaurants, and perform a series of impersonations. The synopsis for the upcoming series reads: "Rob, 60, and Steve – still very much 59 – set off to explore northern Europe's wildest reaches – from sculptural Swedish hotels to remote Norwegian fishing huts – delivering their trademark blend of wit, rivalry and playful introspection. "Along the way, they reflect on ageing, ambition, family and fame – mostly through the lens they know best: themselves – from podcasting spats and Bafta one-upmanship to debates on Bond, Bergman, and whether they'll ever retire. Equal parts sitcom, travelogue and midlife reckoning, The Trip to the Northern Lights is Coogan and Brydon at their bickering, brilliant best." Following the news that the fifth series was renewed Coogan said: "I'm delighted that Michael Winterbottom has managed to persuade me at the age of 59 to join Rob, aged 60, to squeeze the last few drops of comedy from a bottle that we both thought was pretty much empty." Brydon added: "I'm so pleased to be heading out on a Trip once again, this time to beautiful Scandinavia and how lovely to do it while Steve Coogan, Michael Winterbottom, and I still have most of our faculties." Why did Chandi Dayle leave the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders?
Season 2 of 'America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders' is full of highs and lows for Chandi Dayle, the longest-running veteran of the iconic squad. In the sophomore season of the Netflix docuseries, Dayle lands the role of first leader for her group. Episode 6 then throws viewers for a loop as Dayle suddenly disappears from the squad. What caused the cheerleader to take a break from the group and did she ever return? We're unraveling one of Season 2's biggest mysteries, and what she's since said. Who is Chandi Dayle? Chandi Dayle, a sixth-year veteran of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) gets a lot of screen time during Season 2 of the Netflix docuseries as she tries out for and earns her spot on the 2024-2025 squad. Per her DCC bio, Dayle has multiple jobs outside of cheerleading, working as a social media marketing specialist for a pediatric dentistry practice and a licensed pharmacy technician for her family's business. She also works at a Pilates studio and performs contract work for a DCC sponsor. What does Chandi's love life have to do with anything? In Episode 6, Dayle opened up about a prior abusive relationship, explaining that her ex-boyfriend misused alcohol and became emotionally and physically abusive on multiple occasions. Dayle described her ex as a 'stalker' in the period after their breakup and said he threatened her new boyfriend. Despite her efforts to file domestic violence, harassment and stalking police reports, Dayle said she had been unsuccessful in her attempts to obtain any form of meaningful protection from her ex. The cheerleader said that her fear had taken a toll on the quality of her current relationship. Later on, Dayle announced that she and her boyfriend had broken up. Why did Chandi take a leave of absence? Episode 6 depicts the squad's trip to the Bahamas for a team retreat. By the time they returned, Dayle had taken a leave of absence. According to Trammell and Finglass, Dayle took time off to address her 'mental health.' During Dayle's absence, KayDianna MacKenzie stepped in as first leader. Speculation, meanwhile, ricocheted around the team. 'We all know something's going on and we're not getting any answers. No one's speaking about it as a whole so everything is just being whispered,' DCC squad member Jada Mclean said. Dayle then appeared and addressed what happened in a confessional interview. The cheerleader said she'd been 'struggling mentally' and has 'done bad things to myself before.' What happened in the Bahamas? Mclean ultimately summarized what happened in the Bahamas: Dayle brought 'somebody' into her room, upsetting some teammates. Other cheerleaders brought up that by doing so, Dayle broke a contractual policy. 'A lot of people were worried for their safety because they didn't know who this individual was. If that was me, I probably wouldn't want to be in a room with a stranger either,' she continued. Still, Mclean was sensitive to what Dayle was feeling in the moment. 'To other people, it came off as, 'Oh my gosh, you put me in danger.' Or, 'You weren't worried about my safety.' But I don't think she thought of that in an almost just naïve way. She wasn't thinking about that at all. She was kind of thinking about what she needed at the time,' she said. What did Chandi say about the incident? Dayle recalled breaking up with her boyfriend and spiraling emotionally afterwards. 'When we took the trip to the Bahamas, I met someone and we shared similar things that have happened in our past. I was just like kind of crumbling down and I was like, 'Dang, I feel like I have no one here to talk to and so it's nice to have someone to confide in,'' she said. Dayle admitted to breaking DCC protocol but says she was only thinking about needing a friend to listen to her, clarifying that it wasn't a hookup situation. 'It helped me in the moment. Like I get it, it was probably the wrong place and time to do that. But selfishly, I had to do it for me because I feel like I was just losing it,' she said to her friend. She said that she has 'kind of checked (herself) out' during her time away from the squad and opens up about the pressures of being in such a demanding role. 'It's really hard to have all that pressure on you all the time. I don't really know who I am. DCC's not even happy for me anymore cause I don't know myself. And I feel like I've just reached that point where I feel like I'm making mistakes in my own life. And they expect you to wake up and be perfect every day. But I can't do it anymore. I really just wanted to dance and be happy and I just haven't been,' she said. What happened when Chandi returned to the DCC squad? Just in time for the end of the season, Dayle returned to the squad — but not as a team leader. She was met with mixed reactions. 'It affected some people more than others, but the way that those people didn't feel like they were being heard then affected the group more because a lot of people have kind of walked away from her. And that's not something you want, especially on a team this big,' Mclean said in a confessional interview. While opening up about her return to the team, Dayle said it was 'really nice' not being a first leader anymore. 'Now I don't have to think about what I'm doing or what I'm calling or anything like that,' she said. Mclean offered support for her teammate in an interview, saying, 'We've all done things that we shouldn't have done or been in situations that we shouldn't have been in. There's no time to sit and dwell in the past. We can sit here in this or we can move forward.' Finglass applauded Dayle for doing 'a great job for the situation she's in' and acknowledged that it was 'very hard' for her to watch the cheerleader 'go through a low point.' 'I feel very motherly to her. She needs hugs and she needs love and she needs forgiveness. We're not gonna leave any of our children out in the cold,' she said. Is Chandi still with the DCC? Dayle has opted to move on from the squad. 'I think this year I found who I really am. I lost it for sure, was lost in who I really was, There was a long time where I was scared to just not be without dance because that was just me and that was my safe space. But I feel good,' she said while talking with her coaches about her decision. Finglass said it would be a 'huge transition' without Dayle on the squad but wished her well. Wait, what happened to KayDianna? Remember when KayDianna MacKenzie stepped in for Chandi during her leave of absence? The season finale revealed she's no longer a member of the team. Finglass called the decision MacKenzie's 'choice' and said it resulted from 'one conversation of honest feedback.' Meanwhile, MacKenzie shared her own version of the story in a confessional interview. 'Bahamas happened. I stepped into leadership. I definitely didn't feel supported. I felt like I was just a body. It was as if Chandi got the perks of being a first leader and I got the responsibility part of it,' she said. The cheerleader went on to say she and her teammates were 'confused' and didn't know 'what was going to happen' next. Then, one day, MacKenzie's was on TikTok Live and some of her followers started asking about the Bahamas incident. Although she didn't name Dayle directly, MacKenzie did say she'd record a video one day to explain what happened. 'Of course someone screen-recorded it and put it on Reddit. They blew it up. I didn't even talk about Chandi, never said Chandi's name. And then I got a call from staff. They said that I was under investigation for being a bully and harassing and I was officially suspended at that point,' she said. At that point, MacKenzie's decided to step away from the organization and 'respect' herself. Still, she said having to miss the squad banquet was a letdown. 'Even though it was a tough year, I still wanted to be there for my rookies. I still wanted to celebrate this year,' she said.
