The pair took turns to take to the stage, teaming up at points to perform a string of duets.
It was part of their huge Grand National world tour, which has been critically acclaimed since it debuted in the USA earlier this year.
Lamar is widely considered to be the most important rapper of his generation, becoming the first non classical or jazz musician to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
He's sold nearly 20 million albums and has been showered with awards, including including 22 Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Brit Award, four American Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, 11 MTV Video Music Awards and a record 37 BET Hip Hop Awards.
SZA, who collaborated with Lamar on top-ten single All The Stars, has only released two albums in her career so far, but has still won five Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, an American Music Award, a Guild of Music Supervisors Award, and two Billboard Women in Music awards, as well as being nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. She also headlined Glastonbury last year.
And the pair certainly showed why they have become known for their incendiary live performances at Scotland's National Stadium - playing no fewer than 52 tracks.

A chef's secrets to creating match day menus at Hampden Park

'On the day of a big event, you can feel the anticipation right from first thing in the morning. 'Especially if it's something like a cup final at Hampden Park. You can see guests coming in and feeling nervous about watching their team. 'Our job is to make them feel relaxed so that they can enjoy the day.' Pictured: A selection of dishes at Hampden Park (Image: Nate Cleary) No stranger to catering at this scale, Dempsey has enjoyed a storied career of working in stadia across the UK before joining the team in Glasgow almost seven years ago. The key to his success, he says, has always been keen organisational skills and a knack for forward planning. 'Preparation for events like Kendrick Lamar and SZA begins weeks, possibly even months in advance. 'It's a collaboration between everyone from the sales team to kitchen ops and front of house to suppliers. 'The more information we have, the more successful we're likely to be, so we tend to go back and look at similarly sized crowds and demographics to see what has worked before and what hasn't. 'Then we have to have a conversation with our suppliers to see what we can do. For instance, let's say there is a cup final, and I need somewhere close to 3000 fillet steaks. 'I have to go to my butcher and say, 'I need these for a set time and date and prepared exactly to our specifications'. 'Timing is crucial because we could essentially be serving 1,500 meals all at one time in over 10 different areas, so my biggest challenge is to coordinate all of that. 'If that's achieved, then it should all come together seamlessly.' Pictured: 'Club Hampden' is just one of the hospitality function rooms at Hampden Park (Image: Nate Cleary) A close relationship with local suppliers is also essential for catering to such high numbers, as Dempsey strives to prove that larger quantities should never mean sacrificing quality. 'At site level, it's my job to build a relationship with our key suppliers,' he continues. 'We've got the guys at Braehead Foods who do an amazing job of finding us the best produce. 'George Campbell & Sons fishmongers are phenomenal, and Gilmour Butchers provide us with huge quantities of meat but never let us down on quality. Asked if there is one particular event he would choose as a highlight of his career with Sodexo Live!, Dempsey recalls a time shortly after covid when Scotland's hospitality industry was 'on its knees' as businesses struggled to navigate restrictions on crowd sizes or social distancing. 'There was a run of events that I find myself looking back on often,' he says. 'The Euros had been delayed to 2021, and when they went ahead, we managed to bounce back and cater for four games at Hampden Park. 'Straight after that, there was a huge Sodexo Live conference for the UK taking place at the stadium, and next it was COP26, which was massive for us between Hampden and Hamilton Park Racecourse. 'Finally, when three weeks of that were over, we were into the first sell-out match at Hampden for an international game. 'The feedback for all of the events was really positive, and I was so proud of everyone involved. 'The way that everybody pulled together in the Sodexo Live! and beyond with all our partners and clients was absolutely fantastic. 'To this day, I still ask myself how we managed to pull it off, but it was pure team spirit.' Irish singer CMAT has said she 'didn't sleep' and felt 'ill' in the days leading up to her performance on the main stage at Glastonbury Festival. The musician, real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, 29, played songs from her back catalogue, as well as singles from her forthcoming third studio album Euro-Country, when she took to the Pyramid Stage in June. I was so scared for the Pyramid Stage. 'I kind of just kept throwing my head in my hands, and like screaming and being like, 'Why did they let me do this?' Advertisement 'And then by the time I walked on stage, the feeling, the first thought that occurred to me was, 'Oh my God, I'm so relieved that this is about to be over, because I don't have to be scared of it anymore'. 'And then, actually, weirdly, because I had had that thought, I was like, 'Oh, I can just enjoy myself, because it's about to be over and not in front of me anymore'. She added: 'Because of that, I actually did enjoy myself, and we were really well rehearsed. And it just felt amazing. It was amazing. 'It was a weird thing walking out, though, because someone was like, 'Oh, you should get about 20,000 people at that time'… and I walked out, and I've seen 20,000 people before, and I was like, I don't know, I don't know what this is. I've never seen this wall (of people). They just kept going.' 'And I just literally curled up in a ball and I didn't talk to anyone for like 10 minutes.' Towards the end of her set on the Pyramid Stage, CMAT waded into the crowd to sing her popular song Stay For Something and chanted 'Free Palestine' in reference to sustained Israeli strikes in Gaza. CMAT released her debut album, If My Wife New I'd Be Dead, in 2022, and followed it up with Mercury Prize-nominated Crazymad, For Me in 2023. Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Amstutz, released her debut studio album, The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess, in September 2023, but it only entered the UK albums chart in April 2024 and became a number one hit in August of that year. Roan performed Pink Pony Club at the Grammy Awards in February, when she won the award for best new artist.
