Lady Gaga Sets Record for Highest Attended Concert by Female Artist with Copacabana Beach Show
Lady Gaga made history with her concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil on Saturday night. With an estimated 2.5 million fans in attendance, the singer set a new mark for the highest attended concert by a female artist in history.
Dubbed 'Mayhem on the Beach,' the free concert was part of Brasil's Todo Mundo no Rio initiative, which aims to transform Copacabana Beach into a premier stage for major international music events. Gaga's appearance transpired due to Madonna's own 2024 performance at the venue, which previously held the record for the largest concert by a female artist, drawing an estimated 1.6 million attendees. Gaga easily topped Madge's crowd, drawing 2.5 million attendees, according to promoters on the ground.

At the show, Gaga herself acknowledged the magnitude of the evening. 'Your spirit may be heard around the world tonight. 2.5 million people!' she said onstage. Later in the night, she added, 'Tonight, we're making history. Thank you for making history with me… The people of Brasil are the reason why I can shine.'
The show also marked Gaga's first time performing in Brasil since her 'Born This Way Ball' tour in 2012. She was previously forced to cancel a 2017 appearance at Rock in Rio after being hospitalized for severe pain. Find our full recap of the show here.
With this show, her recent Mexican dates, and her headlining slot at Coachella 2025 all under her belt, Gaga will continue with her 'Mayhem Ball' tour, which will officially kick off on July 16th in Las Vegas, followed by dates in Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, and across Europe. Get tickets here.

Taylor Swift Fuels Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga Album Theories With Sneaky Likes
THE RUNDOWN Taylor Swift liked multiple tweets about The Life of a Showgirl, adding fuel to fan theories about the upcoming album. One tweet connected her announcement date for the album to a Lady Gaga song's release date. A second post mused on the possibility of Swift collaborating with Grande; Swift liked it and sparked more speculation on duet rumors. Taylor Swift continued her new The Life of a Showgirl era by dropping a few hints about the direction of her new album—and the two A-list singers who might be connected to the project. Swifties on X noticed that the singer liked a post from a fan who pointed out that Swift announced her album exactly 12 years to the day that Gaga released her song 'Applause' (on Aug. 12, 2013). E! noted the song was also part of Swift's intro playlist during her Eras Tour. Swift also liked a tweet about a possible collaboration with Ariana Grande. A Grande fan account tweeted in Portuguese, 'Everyone knows that there are two people in the world capable of breaking the internet with a feat,' alongside a photo of Grande and Swift. The post appears to have been deleted, but the user kept a screen recording confirming that Swift had liked it. Swift also liked tweets identifying Easter eggs for The Life of a Showgirl in her 'Anti-Hero' music video and 'Bejeweled' music videos: Of course, Swift has only begun to tease what's coming in her 12th album. She's expected to reveal much more later this evening during her appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast, New Heights. The episode comes out at 7 P.M. ET. Chubby Checker reveals he's skipping his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony: ‘We're not coming'
A major twist. Rock and Roll legend Chubby Checker is skipping his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony to prove he's 'still alive' after waiting over three decades to join the exclusive music club. Checker, 83, revealed at a recent show that he will not attend the honors in Los Angeles on Nov. 8 because he will be rocking out on stage at a different gig. 'When I told my manager, I said 'make sure when we go to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the induction, that I will be doing what I love doing the most – being in front of an audience, a live audience, not a television audience,' the music icon told a crowd of fans, according to video posted to social media on July 29. Advertisement Checker, best known for the 1960 chart-topping hit 'The Twist,' has been eligible for the RRHOF since its inaugural class in 1985. The Grammy Award winner had yet to be nominated until this year. Anticipating his selection, Checker said his manager booked him a gig for Nov. 8, before the Hall of Fame reached out to tell him the big news. 6 Chubby Checker is best known for the 1960 hit 'The Twist.' Checker joins an impressive class of 'more traditional' Rock & Roll performers, including Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden and The White Stripes. 'The Twist Again' singer recalled the phone call with Hall of Fame staff when his team turned down the offer to fly out to the ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. 'Getting back to being an 'older person,'' Checker explained to the crowd. 'Chubby goes to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and they say 'he's an old guy, he's probably retired, he's not doing anything, maybe he has crutches, he's coming to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to get his little award and go back home,'' the musician mocked. The singer wasn't fond of appearing in front of a digital audience, instead opting for a real-life crowd. 'Let's be doing a show like I'm doing today to show that I'm alive and well,' Checker said. 'And the audience is wonderful and my dream is still being fulfilled and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is happening all at the same time.' Advertisement The 2025 ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles on Nov. 8 No scheduled events for Checker are publicly listed online for Nov. 8 'The Twist' held claim as the 'Hottest Single' of all time, after Billboard made the list in 2008. Checker held onto that title for over a decade until the magazine republished the list in 2021 and declared The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights' as the new Hot 100 Song of all time.
