Maggie Gyllenhaal's ‘The Bride!' Sneak Peek Drops F-Bomb, Smashes Skulls
They have so much belief that earlier this month they moved the release date of the film back from fall to March 2026, the month from which they turned 'Dune: Part Two' and 'Godzilla x Kong' into major box office hits. To show theaters why they're so hyped, film division chiefs Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca brought Gyllenhaal and star Jessie Buckley onstage to talk about the film and show the first trailer.
The trailer is incredibly brutal, opening with a slow-motion image of Buckley playing the Bride in the accident that killed her, her limbs slowly snapping and her body splayed out on the ground. She is then brought back to life, all memory of her past lost and black ooze pouring from her lips, much to the delight of the gruesomely stitched Frankenstein Monster, played by Christian Bale.
The trailer then shows the couple fighting to survive in a violent Chicago, with the Monster willing to kill anyone who dares threaten them. The Bride watches shocked as her horrific husband slams an attacker's skull into a wall until blood is pouring down the wall, and as he stands triumphant over the corpse, he hisses, 'Til death do us part.'
And just to punch home how in-your-face this film will be, here's the tagline shown in bright orange letters: 'Here. Comes. The. Fucking. Bride.'
In 1935, Elsa Lanchester played the famous Bride of Frankenstein in the Boris Karloff film of the same name, instantly becoming a timeless horror icon. But Gyllenhaal, who first got the idea for the film after being captivated by a man's tattoo of the Bride, sees potential for that character to become something never seen before on the big screen.
'In the original, the Bride is in the movie for about three minutes and doesn't speak, which could not be more different than ours,' she said. 'I'm really interested in monsters and I think that all of us have a little aspect of something monstrous in us. Monsters in our movie do monstrous things, but they're also our heroes.'
'The Bride!' will stomp into theaters on March 6, 2026.

It's relief, and then followed very quickly by excitement because Superman in some ways was the proof of concept. 'It was so, so hard, in the same way that Guardians [of the Galaxy] was so, so hard. Once you're in the groove, you realise, 'Oh, this is what works, this is what doesn't, this is where we can go with this.'" He went on to say: "It means now we have the freedom to tell these other stories in a way that's really exciting. Now, I can just be creative and I don't have to be as concerned with the life and death of the DC brand as I was a month and a half ago." The positive reception from fans has only reinforced his confidence moving forward. "I feel really embraced by the audience. My feeling is that the movie spoke to people, but it also spoke to people because there was a reason for its existence. There was this message of kindness that spoke to people." But Gunn also made it clear he doesn't intend to repeat the same formula in future DCU stories. "That doesn't mean every story I'm going to tell is a message of kindness; it just means there needs to be a reason for the story to be told. You can't just be piling on stuff because it's the characters people liked." Looking ahead, Supergirl is next in line, continuing the "Super-Family" narrative. With Clayface also in the pipeline, the pressure is on to maintain this new momentum. There are rumblings of a major crossover that might see Supergirl teaming up with the Man of Steel, and long-term fans are still hoping that Brainiac will finally make his big-screen debut. Gunn's ultimate vision remains tightly under wraps, but speculation points toward something big and exciting.

Kirsten Dunst wants to make a movie — and make 'a pile of cash.' In a recent interview with the magazine Town and Country, the 'Bring It On' actor expressed her interest in appearing in the sequel to the Warner Bros. record-breaking film 'A Minecraft Movie.' 'Maybe I can make a movie where I don't lose money?' she said. Dunst, who set the record straight on the pronunciation of her name on Wednesday (it's Keer-sten), has been acting since the age of 3. She last appeared in Alex Garland's dystopian war film 'Civil War,' which earned roughly $127 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The film became the second-highest-grossing film for A24. In comparison, 'A Minecraft Movie' made a 'pile of cash' more than Dunst's last three movies, combined — $955 million worldwide. In the interview, Dunst revealed she has a few projects lined up, including Ruben Östlund's film 'The Entertainment System Is Down,' Sofia Coppola's next film and a mermaid story with Oscar-winner Mikey Madison. The 'Interview With the Vampire' star's highest-grossing film is 2007's 'Spider-Man 3,' which earned $892 million worldwide.
