Gandapur demands NFC meeting
In his letter, Gandapur emphasised that following the 25th Constitutional Amendment, the 5.7 million residents of the erstwhile FATA are now officially part of K-P. However, he stated that the financial resources allocated to these regions remain under federal control, according to Express News.
"The seventh NFC Award was issued in 2010, and no adjustments have been made to reflect the changes brought about by the 25th Amendment," the chief minister wrote. He argued that continuing the seventh NFC Award without such revisions is "unconstitutional, illegal, and inappropriate."
Gandapur asserted that extending the current NFC Award violates Article 160 of the Constitution as well as the provisions of the 25th Amendment. He said the extension of the outdated award is unacceptable to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who have not received their rightful share of resources.
Calling for immediate action, he urged the president to ensure that the 10th NFC Commission meeting is convened without delay.
He warned that the denial of constitutionally mandated rights to the merged districts is obstructing development and efforts to establish sustainable peace and stability in those areas.
He also demanded that the federal government begin allocating financial resources to K-P based on the revised population figures, which now include the merged tribal districts.

Saggian, adjoining areas: LCCI demands resolution of industrial issues
LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called for the immediate resolution of industrial issues in Saggian and its adjoining areas. These views were expressed by LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad and former president Muhammad Ali Mian while addressing a 25-member delegation of the Saggian Industries Owners Association, led by Shafiq-uz-Zaman, during a meeting held at the Lahore Chamber. The delegation also included former Executive Committee Member Wasim Chawla, Rana Muhammad Nadeem, Ali Shiraz, Mian Usman Advocate, Haji Liaqat, Malik Usman and others. During the meeting, Shafiq-uz-Zaman briefed the LCCI leadership about the challenges being faced by industries in the Saggian region. He emphasized that the business community has no other platform to raise its voice except the LCCI. He demanded either a significant reduction in the DC (Deputy Commissioner) rate or a decrease in the commercial fee from 20% to 5%, as the current rates are unbearable for industrialists. The delegation further said that doing business in the current economic climate is already extremely difficult and RUDA's imposition of additional financial burdens on industrial units located around the Saggian Bridge has placed the future of industrial activity in serious jeopardy. President Mian Abuzar Shad and former president Muhammad Ali Mian noted that there are over 1,000 small and large industrial units operating in and around the Saggian Bridge area, playing a significant role in the national economy. However, in RUDA-administered zones, the DC rates being imposed are nearly ten times higher than standard market rates, making them completely unaffordable for local industries. They made an urgent appeal to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Ms. Maryam Nawaz, to intervene immediately and direct the concerned departments to revise the DC rates in line with ground realities. Govt begins regional Jirgas for tribal peace
A tribal jirga on Saturday once again urged the federal government to arrange for a delegation comprising representatives of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government and tribal elders to engage in dialogue with Afghanistan. The jirga hosted by K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur also noted that military operations and displacement of local populations are not acceptable under any circumstances. According to an official statement, this was the first in a series of jirgas planned to be held under the auspices of the K-P government at addressing peace and security issues. Tribal elders and elected representatives from Khyber and Orakzai districts, as well as from the tribal sub-divisions of Darra Adam Khel and Hassan Khel, participated in the gathering. The jirga was attended by 150 tribal elders and leaders, six members of the provincial assembly, three members of the National Assembly, and one senator. Senior government officials including Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, and K-P Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed were present at the event, alongside relevant commissioners, deputy commissioners, and senior officers. In a unanimous resolution, the jirga stated that there is complete unity among all stakeholders in the fight against terrorism and terrorists for the restoration of peace. However, military operations and the displacement of local populations are not acceptable. It said development is linked to peace, and once peace is restored, the pace of development must accelerate. The tribal elders recommended that the federal government arrange for a delegation to engage in dialogue with Afghanistan. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had summoned a jirga of tribal elders in Peshawar following the killing of some protesters in Tirah last week. Five people died and 17 others sustained injuries on June 27 when protesters were fired upon during a protest outside a military installation at the Bagh Maidan area of Tirah Valley of the Khyber district against the killing of a girl. After the incident, the K-P government announced Rs10 million each in compensation for those killed and Rs2.5 million for each of the injured. The provincial government stated that it stood in solidarity with the affected families. PTI's K-P Organizational Committee, in an emergency meeting last week, strongly condemned ongoing "state violence" against peaceful citizens across the K-P, especially in the merged districts, which constituted the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) till early 2018. The committee unanimously asserted that extended military deployment under Article 245 of the Constitution has created an unchecked environment of force and ineffective accountability, violating basic rights and disrupting local peace.

FATF: Azma criticises Gandapur's ‘irresponsible' statement
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, has strongly condemned India's use of Ali Amin Gandapur's irresponsible statement against Pakistan in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) forum, calling it both deplorable and deeply shameful for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. She said the episode not only brings disgrace to Gandapur but also reflects PTI's overall political immaturity. 'The core problem with these individuals is their chronic inability to think before speaking,' she remarked. Azma Bokhari reminded that it was Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's tireless efforts and effective diplomacy that successfully removed Pakistan from the FATF grey list. 'This achievement opened the doors for access to Western markets and created new economic opportunities with the European Union,' she added. Criticizing PTI's leadership further, she stated that the party played a major role in dragging the country toward economic instability. 'They not only staged protests against the IMF but also held demonstrations outside its headquarters and engaged in letter-writing campaigns to tarnish Pakistan's image globally,' she added. Azma emphasized that expecting national interest from PTI is pointless. 'The party's record is filled with incidents of mocking state institutions, displaying irresponsibility in matters of national security, and attempting to weaken Pakistan's global standing.' She also slammed India, saying, 'After facing defeat in conventional warfare, India is now globally isolated. The Modi regime is resorting to false propaganda in a failed attempt to launch new offensives against Pakistan.' Azma concluded that India's narrative against Pakistan at forums like FATF gains strength due to the recklessness of individuals like Gandapur, which amounts to playing with national security.
