Liverpool forward could MOVE after Saudis trigger €65m deal
Where once the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane led the list of high-profile incomings, there has been a shortage of star names moving to Saudi Arabia during the current transfer season.

Of course, Saudi clubs have got their eyes on a couple of prized assets at Liverpool. Luis Diaz, 28, is wanted by Al-Nassr - who are willing to part with €100m to land the Colombian - but his preference right now would appear to be Bayern Munich.
Then there's Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan striker, 26, is believed to favour a move within Europe but is seeing his options dry up as the window goes on.
Diaz and Nunez wanted in Saudi Arabia
He would have no problem gaining a rich contract in the Middle East should he choose to accept the move with Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal both keen on the Liverpool No9.
Both players are going to see their opportunities restricted if they end up staying at Anfield through the summer as big-name arrivals including Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike have all but secured their spot in Arne Slot's XI.
So no doubt they will be hoping to land elsewhere - and the list of possibilities even includes Saudi Arabia.
One team in the region which HAS managed to land its No1 target however is Al-Qadsiah. Flush with PIF cash, Al-Qadsiah have just completed a record deal which could end up having a big impact at Anfield.
Retegui sale opens space at Atalanta
Mateo Retegui, 26, has moved from Atalanta to Al-Qadsiah for €65m, becoming the league's flagship arrival of the summer. And his somewhat unexpected departure has opened the door for Atalanta to complete several deals.
The club were previously reported to be in the hunt for although the winger's £120k per week salary was putting them off.
They are now boosted by a €65m windfall however - meaning a shock move for the Italy international could now be back on the table.
That's according to a new report in Foot Mercato, which claims Atalanta are among FOUR Serie A teams now interested in making a bid for the 27-year-old forward.

Chiesa a PRIORITY for Atalanta
'As Federico Chiesa endures a summer of total uncertainty at Liverpool, several Serie A clubs are ready to lend him a helping hand,' a report reads.
'Atalanta, in search of a new attacking asset after the departure of Mateo Retegui, has made him their priority.
'Roma, Fiorentina, and Bologna are keeping a close eye on developments.'
It was a frustrating season for Chiesa following his €12.5m transfer from Juventus last September. He played only SIX times in the Premier League - making only one start - and barely impressed on his outings in other competitions.
Chiesa was earmarked for a transfer as early as January but was kept around for the second half of the season.
He is expected to wrap up an outgoing transfer before the window closes - which in turn could add another €15m to the club's transfer funds.

Madrid's reduced valuation puts Liverpool on alert
Rodrygo Back on Liverpool's Radar as Real Madrid Drop Price Tag As Liverpool's pre-season tour rolls through Asia, much of the club's intrigue lies away from the pitch. While the 4-2 loss to AC Milan generated some talking points, the real focus remains on Arne Slot's evolving squad and how Liverpool may respond to the looming exits of key attacking figures. Photo: IMAGO With Luis Diaz reportedly close to sealing a move to Bayern Munich and Darwin Nunez expected to follow him through the exit door, the club's attacking options are under scrutiny. Eyes have naturally turned to potential replacements, and one familiar name has returned to the conversation: Rodrygo. Madrid stance opens door for movement According to the Echo AS, Real Madrid are prepared to lower their valuation of the Brazilian winger. Previously holding firm at £80 million, the Spanish giants are now said to be open to negotiating a lower fee to help facilitate Rodrygo's departure. This shift has reportedly alerted several European clubs, including Liverpool, who have a long-standing interest in the player. Photo: IMAGO Rodrygo's situation in Madrid has become increasingly uncertain. The 24-year-old was handed a limited role during the Club World Cup and is reportedly not in Xabi Alonso's plans moving forward. This potential availability presents an opportunity that Liverpool may find hard to ignore. Rodrygo link not new to Anfield Liverpool were close to securing Rodrygo's services before he moved to Spain in 2019. That admiration has lingered. While no formal offer has been made yet, the combination of reduced cost and the player's technical fit for Liverpool's system could make him an attractive option in the post-Diaz era. Photo: IMAGO Rodrygo's versatility, work rate and experience at the elite level match the profile Liverpool tend to favour. The Echo notes that, while Liverpool's interest is yet to be defined as concrete, the shift in Madrid's stance could trigger movement, especially if further funds are generated through outgoing transfers. Slot's attack could use fresh spark With Arne Slot placing emphasis on fluid attacking transitions and intelligent movement in the final third, a player of Rodrygo's profile could be a valuable asset. He has shown at Real Madrid that he can play across the front three, maintain width or tuck inside, and press aggressively from the front all traits that would fit the Dutchman's vision for Liverpool. Photo IMAGO Transfer decisions gathering pace Much of Liverpool's transfer strategy this summer has been about timing. Patience has been key as they wait to navigate a market increasingly driven by inflated valuations and tight FFP margins. But if Rodrygo truly is on the market at a reduced price, Liverpool may look to strike, particularly if they find themselves with a shortfall of wide options come August. Our View – Anfield Index Analysis Rodrygo is no speculative gamble. He has Champions League pedigree, La Liga experience, and is entering his peak years. If Real Madrid are genuinely lowering their asking price, Liverpool would be foolish not to make serious enquiries. With Diaz's departure reportedly agreed and Nunez's future hanging in the balance, a wide forward of Rodrygo's class would inject real excitement into the rebuild under Slot. There are still questions. Can he adapt quickly to the demands of English football? Would he accept a role in a system that asks more of its wide players off the ball? But in terms of potential and proven quality, Rodrygo ticks more boxes than most. This deal, if it happens, would be a statement that Liverpool are not just looking to replace, they are looking to evolve. And with the clock ticking down to the new season, a move of this calibre could be the catalyst for a thrilling new chapter at Anfield.

Italy U21 Star The Only Target For Inter Milan In Defense – Juventus, AC Milan, Liverpool, Spurs & West Ham United All In The Race
Parma defender Giovanni Leoni is reportedly the only target at the back for Inter Milan this summer transfer window. Today's print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that it is essentially 'Leoni or nothing' for the Nerazzurri. For the last several weeks, Inter have been heavily linked with Parma defender Giovanni Leoni. Reportedly, the 19-year-old is the player the Nerazzurri see as ideal for the long-term future of their defense. Furthermore, the fact that Leoni had worked with coach Cristian Chivu last season has further bumped him up Inter's list of targets. However, the price tag for Leoni would be quite high. Reportedly, Parma are holding out for as much as €40 million to sell the teenage defender. 'Giovanni Leoni Or Nothing' For Inter Milan In Defense MONZA, ITALY – MARCH 15: Giovanni Leoni of. Parma in action during the. Serie A match between Monza and Parma at U-Power Stadium on March 15, 2025 in Monza, Italy. (Photo by) According to the Corriere dello Sport, Inter still see Leoni as the absolute priority target at the back. The investment that the Nerazzurri plan to make in Atalanta's Ademola Lookman makes it more difficult to pull of a deal for Leoni. But they plan to try in the next few weeks. Furthermore, the Corriere reports, Inter will not likely sign a defender if Leoni doesn't arrive. They don't want to pursue any backup targets. For example, while Genoa's Koni De Winter is a target for Inter, it would be as a wide centre-back to replace either Yann Bisseck or Benjamin Pavard. Therefore, for the centre of the defense, Inter would rely on Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij for one more season if they're unable to sign Leoni. In the meantime, there are also several other clubs chasing Leoni. In Serie A, Juventus and AC Milan are also keen on the 19-year-old. Then, all of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United want to bring Leoni to the Premier League.

Inter Milan Eyeing Up €20M Rated Genoa & Parma Midfielders – Ex Napoli Star Could Leave
Inter Milan are eyeing up Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup and Parma's Mandela Keita, while Piotr Zielinski could leave this summer. This according to today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Frendrup and Keita would both cost at least €20 million. Inter Milan are thinking about a shakeup in midfield, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport. The aim would be to bring in a player suitable for the central positions in the 3-4-2-1 formation that coach Cristian Chivu is aiming to transition the team to playing. Therefore, the Nerazzurri want a physical, dynamic player with strong tackling and ball-winning ability. A midfielder who can cover extra ground behind the attack. And according to the Gazzetta, there are a couple of names from within Serie A on Inter's list. Inter Eyeing Up Frendrup & Keita – Zielinski Could Leave PARMA, ITALY – DECEMBER 28: Mandela keita of Parma calcio during the Serie A match between Parma and Monza at Stadio Ennio Tardini on December 28, 2024 in Parma, Italy. (Photo by) Inter have long been admirers of Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup. And the Dane is a player who would certainly add muscle to the Nerazzurri's midfield options. Genoa would want at least €20 million to sell Frendrup this summer. That is also the same price bracket for Mandela Keita of Parma. The Emilians paid around €15 million to sign the Belgian last summer, and would expect to sell him on for a profit. Keita is a player who Inter coach Cristian Chivu is already familiar with, having worked with him at the Stadio Enrico Tardini. And like Frendrup, Keita certainly has the profile of an athletic, ball-winning midfielder who could support the attack. To make an investment in either of these players, however, Inter would have to make sales first. The Nerazzurri are pushing for a deal to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. The Nigerian will cost north of €40 million. Therefore, Inter's budget will be just about exhausted. However, Inter could look to fund a deal for a new midfielder by making some sales. Kristjan Asllani is certainly one midfielder who could leave. However, according to the Gazzetta, Piotr Zielinski is another player who could head for the exit door. The Polish international only just joined last summer. However, injuries restricted his impact. And in truth, Zielinski doesn't quite fit the profile that Chivu is seeking in midfield. Zielinski's age (31 years old) and wages (€4.5 million net per season) could make it hard to find a buyer. However, there would always be the possibility of a sufficient offer from the Saudi Pro League, notes the Gazzetta.
