10 notes on 10 Steelers from Week One of the preseason

On Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Jacksonville Jaguars on the strength of their passing offense. We have gone over the game and after breaking down the obvious like the quarterbacks, we have 10 notes on 10 Steelers who stood out for us and not always for good reasons. 1 - RB Kaleb Johnson Johnson's yards before contact were negative thanks to how awful the Steelers offensive line did run blocking so we give Johnson a pass this week. 2 - WR Max Hurleman At this point, we are crunching the numbers, trying to figure out how to get Hurleman on the 53-man roster. 3 - WR Roc Taylor Like Hurleman, Roc Taylor made a strong statement on Saturday and is really going to push guys like Scotty Miller and Ben Skowronek for the last spot on the depth chart. 4 - OT Troy Fautanu The run blocking by the Steelers offensive line was down overall but that's not on Troy Fautanu. Not only did he not give up a pressure on 24 passing snaps, he was the only offensive lineman consistently doing his job on run plays. 5 - DT Yahya Black Black only played 10 snaps but it was enough for us to be convinced he needs a heavier workload next week. Black's lateral agility for a man his size is remarkable. 6 - EDGE Jack Sawyer We aren't going to overreact but this wasn't a great debut for Sawyer as a pass rusher. We are hopeful he will play with more confidence next week. 7 - EDGE DeMarvin Leal Time is running out for Leal to show he can be a 275-pound edge rusher. He was a tweener coming out of college and he's still a tweener. 8 - S Juan Thornhill Thornhill came out and decided to be the tone setter and you can see he's embraced his role as the new starting free safety. 9 - S Chuck Clark The Steelers gave Clark plenty of opportunity to make a statement on Saturday, but he's still a work in progress to get on the right page with this defense. 10 - LB Payton Wilson Wilson only played 12 snaps on Saturday but still found his way to four tackles. He's going to have a huge breakout season. This article originally appeared on Steelers Wire: 10 notes on 10 Steelers from Week One of the preseason

How slim are Missouri football's odds to win SEC, make CFP in 2025? What betting lines say

How high can Mizzou fly in 2025? Last season, Missouri football fell short of making the 12-team College Football Playoff field with a 9-3 regular-season record that included road losses at Alabama, Texas A&M and South Carolina. Mizzou has won double-digit games in each of the past two seasons, which marked just the third time the Tigers have achieved that feat in program history. If Mizzou can make it three straight years, which would be a program-first, then it will be right back in the CFP conversation. To get there, Missouri has some important calls to make. Multiple fall camp position competitions, most notably at quarterback, remain unsettled. The Tigers' new season begins Thursday, Aug. 28, against Central Arkansas on Faurot Field. Missouri's over/under wins total has been set at 7.5 for the season in Las Vegas. Can Mizzou surpass that and compete on the biggest stage of the sport this December? Here's how likely the oddsmakers think that is, including the Tigers' odds to win the SEC, make the College Football Playoff field and, if you're really into a longshot, win the national title: Missouri football odds to win SEC Mizzou is 12th in the betting order, per BetMGM, with +4,000 odds (40/1) to win the SEC title this year. Texas is the betting favorite at +275, and the Longhorns are followed in short order by Georgia (+320), Alabama (+400) and LSU (+750). The four teams considered more of a longshot than Mizzou to win the league title are Arkansas (+15,000), Vanderbilt (+30,000), Kentucky (+30,000) and Mississippi State (+40,000). The SEC Championship game is set for Dec. 6 in Atlanta. Missouri football odds to make College Football Playoff field BetMGM has Mizzou listed with +725 odds to make the 12-team College Football Playoff field, and -1,200 odds to not make the cut. The Tigers likely need to find 10 regular-season wins to get there. More: Play from Missouri football QBs Pribula, Horn in scrimmage explain why race remains close More: Who stood out, who missed Missouri football's closed scrimmage? Go behind the curtains Missouri's odds to win College Football Playoff BetMGM has Mizzou listed with +12,500 odds to win the national title this year. That means a $10 wager would land you $125,000 if the Tigers pulled off the improbable. Seven teams are listed with the same 125/1 odds as Mizzou, with Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas and Utah all checking in at the same value. Where to buy Missouri football tickets The Tigers have sold out of season tickets, as well as single-game tickets for games against Kansas, Louisiana and Alabama. That means the only way to watch those games at Memorial Stadium is now through the secondary market. To see a full list of ticket prices, visit StubHub at this link.
