Netflix's gripping new series lands perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score
American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden is the sister series to American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing and explores the counterterrorism efforts in the US in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.
The Netflix miniseries documents the manhunt and capture of Osama Bin Laden, who masterminded the terrorist attack. The three-parter stitches together archival footage and talking head interviews to capture a behind-the-scenes look at the governmental decision-making at the time.
Directors Daniel Sivan and Mor Loushy said their goal in making the show was to transport viewers into these rooms in real time, building from the initial intelligence that suggested an attack was imminent to figuring out who was responsible and seeking justice.
The show aims to ask viewers what they would do in such a situation, as the directors told Netflix's Tudum: 'For us, the best way to understand history is to truly experience it.

'Being thrown into the driver's seat after the worst attack in American history would rattle anyone, even these brave men and women who had devoted their lives to protecting Americans by assessing geopolitical threats and sounding alarms that were often ignored.
'But the intelligence analysts didn't have time to grieve or reflect. They had a mission at hand: to figure out who did this and stop them before the next attack.'
'American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden does not tell the story of the United States and the War on Terror,' said Sivan and Loushy. 'It tells the story of the people tasked to find the world's most wanted terrorist and bring him to justice. It [was] a hunt that changed their lives, America, and the world as we know it.'
The show's third episode gives Zero Dark Thirty a run for its money in its tense recreation of how Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan was raided during a nighttime operation predicated on a hunch, but which resulted in his death 10 years after 9/11.
Netflix viewers have already shared their reactions to the show, taking to X to praise the direction.
@RakitaMode wrote: 'American Manhunt Osama Bin Laden was a riveting documentary series. Just 3 episodes, most of which I've seen bits and pieces over several documentaries/movies. But it was put together so well, especially the 3rd episode was nail biting cinema! Hard hitting! Must watch!' More Trending
@AngelaBaevis added: 'That Osama Bin Laden American Manhunt installment is soooo good. 10s to whoever produced & directed it.'
Other viewers did note the one-sided nature of the documentary, describing it as jingoistic at times. @boredpeanutt shared: 'Watching the American manhunt for Osama bin Laden on Netflix rn, and it feels like the main point of the show is to make people sympathise with the CIA and the intelligence officers for their years-long intelligence failure. It's an overkill at this point.'
@JakeQRyan added: 'Netflix has released American Manhunt Osama Bin Laden which seems to feature the 'heroic' CIA Officers who worked in Alec Station?? FBI & Congress blamed those clowns for actively concealing the presence of known Al Qaeda terrorists in USA before the 9/11 attacks. Not heroes. Idiots.'

Animation smashes Netflix record in days becoming second most-watched film
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Netflix may be home to countless blockbusters, but a new contender is quickly climbing to the top of the all-time leaderboard. This animated film has captured the imaginations of viewers across the world and is currently sitting at 184.6 million views. That puts it just behind Red Notice – and if it's momentum holds, it could dethrone it in just a matter of weeks. The 2021 action-comedy, featuring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot, seemed untouchable – until now. Since premiering on June 20, KPop Demon Hunters has pulled in over 20 million views per week. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. In the most recent weekly rankings from August 4–10, it picked up another 25.9 million views. It ranked just behind My Oxford Year, but beat out anticipated titles like Happy Gilmore 2, Gladiator II, and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The film blends KPop, Korean folklore, and fantasy action into a neon-lit, high-energy spectacle that's unlike anything else on Netflix. It follows fictional pop group HUNTR/X – global idols by day, demon slayers by night – as they face off against the Saja Boys, a rival boy band hiding a dark secret. Rotten Tomatoes critics have given the film a glowing 97% score, with many praising it for its originality, emotional depth, and sheer entertainment value. Voice talent includes Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, Ji-young Yoo, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, Lee Byung-hun, and many more familiar names. The animation style is bold and vibrant, the soundtrack is contagious, and the choreography has already gone viral on TikTok. The song Golden from the movie even topped the Billboard Global 200, marking a major moment for an animated act. It's managed to cross genres, languages, and age groups – drawing in KPop stans, animation lovers, and curious Netflix browsers alike. Week after week, its viewership has held strong, making it the only movie in Netflix history to maintain such numbers so consistently over eight straight weeks. That consistency is what makes this climb so significant – and so threatening to Red Notice's long-standing record. KPop Demon Hunters now needs around 46 million more views to claim the title of Netflix's most-watched movie ever. Netflix hasn't confirmed plans for a sequel just yet, but fans are already demanding one – plus merch, a series, and possibly even a live-action spin-off. Fans have praised the new animation for creating a new generation of K-pop fans – whilst also bringing back older generations. @wisewyss on X said: 'The more the merrier, new KPop fans will come of this.' 'My love for KPop was revived thanks to this movie,' @ravenPH added. The film has also reignited conversation around what animated movies can be – especially when paired with global music trends like K-pop. And if there was ever doubt about the worldwide power of Korean storytelling, this movie silenced it. While most of Netflix's top movies come from Hollywood studios with action-heavy formulas, KPop Demon Hunters proves that creativity and cultural flair can be just as powerful. More Trending It's a massive win for Korean creators, for animated storytelling, and for viewers looking for something fresh. With just a few weeks to go before it potentially claims the number one spot, all eyes are on HUNTR/X. They came to slay demons, now they might slay the Netflix record books too. KPop Demon Hunters is available to stream on Netflix now. Got a story? There is no way to answer this question without sounding like an egomaniac. That said, it's very funny. If you know me from Broadway, or American TV shows, or my Melania Trump impression, you will be quite surprised and, dare I say, thrilled by this side of me. Who or what was the biggest inspiration for your show? My own questionable life. What's the best review you've ever had, and the worst? The best I've had was here regarding my show: 'For, in the end, Laura Benanti has good, old-fashioned star power. It shines from every pore, pulling the audience into every word, every note, every wink. The show will receive standing ovations at every performance, and deserves every last one.' The worst was 'As I smelled the stench wafting from the stage, I realised those actors have mothers. And I pitied them.' To this day, I wonder if they pitied us, our mothers, or both. Netflix comedy from Dexter's Laboratory creator slammed as 'incredibly disgusting' by viewers
Viewers have reported switching it off just minutes in Netflix viewers have been switching off a brand new comedy film on the platform within minutes, branding it "insufferable" and "incredibly disgusting." Launched on the streaming service today (August 13), Fixed centres on a dog called Bull (voiced by Adam Devine) who learns he's about to be castrated and embarks on one final adventure with his mates. He also plans to woo the pedigree pooch he fancies next door, Honey (Kathryn Hahn), before going under the knife. The animated comedy was crafted by Genndy Tartakovsky, a five-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker behind Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack, reports the Mirror. Netflix's synopsis states: " From visionary director Genndy Tartakovsky comes Fixed, an adult animated comedy about Bull, an average, all-around good dog who discovers he's going to be neutered in the morning! "As the gravity of this life-altering event sets in, Bull realizes he needs one last adventure with his pack of best friends as these are the last 24 hours with his balls! What could go wrong...?" The stellar cast also features Idris Elba as Rocco, Fred Armisen as Fetch and Bobby Moynihan as Lucky. Yet despite the celebrity talent involved, it has struggled to win over audiences from the get-go. "Fixed genuinely is insufferable and I'm only like five minutes in," one viewer began, adding: "I genuinely hate this. This is just corny sex jokes. I don't wanna see an animated dog's b******* flap while he's humping a grandma's leg." Another viewer abandoned the show after just the trailer, commenting: "It seemed incredibly disgusting (like worse than Big Mouth) just from the three second clip I watched while hovering over the title. Will absolutely not be investigating further," whilst a third disappointed Netflix subscriber added: "I still wanna know HOW were the voice actors talked into doing this." Not every viewer reacted so strongly to the film though. Defending the production, one supporter commented: "Just watched it. It's passable, wasn't as bad as the trailers made me think it would be but it's not a masterpiece by any means, great animation though." Speaking to Netflix's Tudum, Tartakovsky revealed how the cast was assembled: "Some of the material is a bit raunchy so we had to find people that were receptive to our sense of humor, and boy, did we. "I remember a moment where Kathryn Hahn read the script and called us - she wanted her character to be as raunchy as the other guys. It was a great note. We then rewrote her character to be reflective of that idea and she absolutely killed it."
