Disneyland Resort to halt runDisney races due to upcoming construction plans

Yahoo23-04-2025
Runners and Disney fans alike will have to wait a while to participate in runDisney races again at Disneyland Resort. The races at 'The Happiest Place on Earth' will be placed on hold once again to accommodate upcoming construction.
'Due to upcoming construction impacts, runDisney races at the Disneyland Resort will be placed on hiatus in 2026 after the conclusion of the 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend presented by Honda. We will continue to offer races at Walt Disney World Resort, as well as virtual offerings,' the runDisney website said.
The 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is scheduled for Jan. 29 through Feb.1, 2026.

RunDisney previously paused races at Disneyland in 2017 before returning to the resort last year. The event was canceled in 2018 and the following years due to the construction of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge and the COVID-19 pandemic.
While Disney has not confirmed the exact construction plans prompting the latest hiatus, some major projects are expected to begin around the same time.
Construction on a new attraction based on Pixar's Coco, which was announced during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, is anticipated to start in 2026.
In addition, Disneyland Forward — a $1.9 billion, 40-year expansion plan — received final approval from the Anaheim City Council last year. The proposal allows Disney to develop new attractions, restaurants, and shops within areas it already owns and operates.
Planned expansions include park attractions and hotels along the west side of Disneyland Drive, as well as new retail, dining, and entertainment venues where the Toy Story Parking Area currently sits at Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard.
While these expansions have yet to break ground, the runDisney pause offers a possible timeline for when major construction could start.

Drake Revisits Sentimental City Where 7-Year-Old Son Adonis Was Conceived

While performing in Amsterdam on Wednesday night (July 30), Drake hit pause on the show to reflect on his connection to the city. In a fan-recorded video, the 'What Did I Miss?' icon revealed that Amsterdam is where he and artist Sophie Brussaux conceived their now 7-year-old son, Adonis. 'I was saying backstage, I was saying that this is the place. A very special place in my heart. Because this is where my son was conceived,' Drizzy told the crowd. 'So this is a big show for me, you know? I hold Amsterdam very dear to my heart.' He added, 'There would be no Adonis if there wasn't an Amsterdam, so shoutout to y'all.' Drake has let fans into his fatherhood journey over the years, sharing many heartwarming moments. Last November, he shared a handwritten letter from Adonis via Instagram Stories that read, 'Thank you for giving me such a good life and a good family. I love you dad,' signed, 'Adonis to Dad.' When Adonis turned seven last October, Drake went all out with a SpongeBob SquarePants-themed birthday bash. The proud dad posted two photos from the celebration, featuring him and Adonis posing in front of a Bikini Bottom backdrop, captioned 'Big Don.' The Grammy-winner also gave us a glimpse of his Father's Day last year, with sweet pics with Adonis and his own father, Dennis Graham. In one photo, the trio rocked cowboy hats, and in another, showed off their smiles. 'Three generations Happy Fathers Day to the ones guiding their daughters and sons,' Drake wrote at the time. I Can't Stop Staring at This Official Half-Human-Torch Fantastic Four Costume

Disney has unveiled its selection of costumes for 2025, and they're spectacularly silly and delightful. Leading the pack with incredible camp are The Fantastic Four: First Steps costumes. While Sue and Reed's costumes play it safe, those for the Human Torch and the Thing offer better representations of their powers. Seriously, I cannot stop looking at the 'flame on' mid-transformation look. It's so ridiculous, I love it and sort of want to roller skate around in it. Check out the gallery below for images of the rest of the Fantastic Four, noting that instead of a bulky, heavy costume for the Thing, it's inflatable with a textured mask. I only wish Reed had inflatable arms of some sort that waved around like those wacky tube people. Sue admittedly got done dirty, but how can you add invisibility to the outfit? Maybe by adding a green glove and editing your arm out in post? Unfortunately for Red Hulk from Captain America: Brave New World, the inflatable approach doesn't fare as well as it does for the Thing. Seriously, the look of rage on it makes it appear as if President Ross prays for the sweet release of bursting out of existence. It's wildly unhinged and hard to unsee—but it'll be a winner in the jump-scare department for anyone with the courage to step into the most horrifying Marvel costume yet. For the most part, however, the inflatables elevate the cartoony nature of Disney franchise costumes. They're particularly effective with Pixar's Toy Story, where the designs are more in line with the animation style of the characters. The inflatable Buzz Lightyear space suit does a better job at evoking the perfect shape, whereas the fabric ones of the past sort of felt flat. Then, of course, finally seeing Rex in an inflatable dino form is just perfect, no notes. There are also, of course, cozy versions of some of the costumes, like onesies and hoodies for Monsters Inc. that capture their fuzzy and textured essence. Sully and Mike Wazowski come to life with creative flair and comfort in Posh Peanut's Monsters Inc. collection, and Boo costumes are available at the Disney Store. And speaking of fuzzy, Star Wars also released iconic new costumes for kids, like the cutest Princess Leia and (always sold-out) Ewok baby outfits we've ever seen. But hey, there's always the pet ewok look to round out a family group costume. Check out all the new Disney Halloween costumes below: Want more io9 news? Why Webtoon Entertainment Stock Nearly Doubled Today

Key Points Earnings reports often drive significant stock moves, and Webtoon did beat analyst expectations in the second quarter of 2025. However, an unexpected content deal with Walt Disney added far more fuel to the stock's fire today. 10 stocks we like better than Webtoon Entertainment › Shares of Webtoon Entertainment (NASDAQ: WBTN) soared to a 52-week high on Wednesday. Powered by a strong earnings report and an unexpected Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) partnership, Webtoon's shares had gained 93% as of 11:40 a.m. ET -- and the chart is still trending upward as of this writing. Webtoon's results and a sweet Disney deal Let's start with the financial filings. The average Wall Street firm had expected second-quarter earnings of roughly $0.02 per share, with top-line revenue near $341 million. The mobile webcomics specialist posted adjusted earnings of $0.07 per share instead, based on $348 million of revenues. That's a clean sweep, also exceeding the top end of management's guidance ranges for this period. But the bigger news came from the House of Mouse. Besides the earnings report, Webtoon also announced a brand new Disney deal. This contract adds a selection of Disney, Marvel, 20th Century Fox, and Star Wars content on the Webtoon platform. It will start with a handful of free webcomics at launch, followed by approximately 100 pieces of premium content over time. That's a robust slice of Disney's instantly recognizable content portfolio, but Webtoon users won't get full access to this deep well. How the partnership helps Webtoon and Disney Webtoon CEO David Lee wasn't able to share financial terms or launch dates quite yet, as the commercial details are still being hammered out. But he called the deal a win-win for both companies. Webtoon will supplement its mainly anime-style comics with a deep well of proven hits, while Disney reaches the Gen Z kids (and younger) from a new angle. The stock calmed down to an 85% gain by noon ET. That's still a solid 52-week high. Again, the Disney deal holds more weight than a modest earnings surprise. From here, Webtoon needs to make the most of its Disney contract, boosting the company's fairly slow revenue growth and nearly breakeven profits.
