
Surekha elated over successful conduct of Saraswati Pushkaralu
The Minister in a message said, 'I am very happy that the Saraswati Pushkaras were successful. The first Pushkaralu after the formation of Telangana was held wonderfully. Close to 30 lakh devotees took holy dips and had darshan of the Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy. Thank you all the departmental officials, local people and devotees who supported this. We wish to celebrate the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu in a grand manner,' said Surekha, offering a special thanks to the Minister D Sridhar Babu, local officials and the Endowment Department who worked hard to make these Pushkaralu a success.

Govt targets 47.64 lakh palm & toddy saplings in Vanamahotsavam drive
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to cultivate Palm and Toddy seedlings during the upcoming Vanamahotsavam in the state, with planting targets set at 47.64 lakh over the next two years. For the 2025 planting season, the total plantations will be 24.86 lakh (approximately 25 lakh), followed by 22.78 lakh (approximately 22.86 lakh) in the 2026 season. Nurseries established by the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department have raised 45.37 lakh palm seedlings and 5.04 lakh toddy seedlings. As part of the Vanamahotsavam programme, Forest Minister Konda Surekha stated that the government has decided to plant 47.64 lakh palm and toddy saplings across the state. Appropriate orders have been issued to forest officials in this regard, with the target set to be achieved within a two-year period. The Forest Department alone plans to plant 5.04 lakh palm saplings. Overall, the department is proceeding with a target of planting 18.02 crore saplings across the state during this year's Vanamahotsavam. Minister Surekha is leading efforts to increase Telangana's forest area from 24.05 per cent to 33 per cent, in line with the National Forest Policy. The government had set a broader target of 18.02 crore saplings for this year. To ensure this year's Vanamahotsavam is a success, 20 crore saplings were already prepared in 14,355 nurseries across the state.

Thousands witness celestial wedding of Renuka Yellamma at Balkampet
Hyderabad: The celestial Kalyanotsavam of Sri Renuka Yellamma Ammavaru at Balkampet was grandly held on Tuesday. The Kalyanam was held at 11.55 am. The Endowments Minister Konda Surekha offered silk clothes to the goddesses. Kalyanam is orgainsed on the first Tuesday of Ashada Masam. The devotees were lined up before the temple from 5 am on Tuesday. The temple authorities organised queue lines and VIP entries. A large number of devotees and Shiva Sattulu thronged to the temple premises to witness the wedding. The rush was so huge that it took five hours for the devotees to have darshan. The Kalyanotsavam are taken up for three days. On the first day there will be 'Edurukolu', Kalyanam on second day and Rathotsavam on the third day. Minister Konda Surekha said that Balkampet Yellamma is the deity who relieves the sufferings of the people of Hyderabad. She reminded that there was a buzz of Bonalu in the areas around Hyderabad during the month of Ashadham. The minister said that the Bonalu culture came during a time when a pandemic was raging here in the past. It is the belief of the people here that when a disaster struck the great city of Hyderabad and hundreds of people were dying, Balkampet Yellamma saved the lives of many people by protecting them. She said that the Bonalu festival has become a great celebration for the people here. The Minister said that this time, the government led by CM A Revanth Reddy allocated Rs 20 crores and ensured that there was no problem anywhere. He reminded that lakhs of devotees come to see the goddess every year... All arrangements have been made for that. She said that she was very lucky to have the opportunity to offer silk clothes to the goddess on behalf of the state government. She prayed to the goddess for good rains and good health for the crops. The traffic police imposed traffic restricts on the Balkampet road. The city police commissioner CV Anand supervised the arrangements. He inspected the control room and cctv surveillance center and accessed overall preparedness to ensure effective crowd management and public safety.
