Coronation Street Kirk actor reveals real voice as stunned fans admit 'not expecting that'
Corrie 's very own Andy Whyment, better known as Kirk Sutherland, has left fans utterly amazed with his extraordinary hidden talent.
Andy has been a household name since he strolled onto the Corrie set in 2000 as the affable brother of Maria Connor, played by Samia Longchambon. He quickly earned his place in the hearts of viewers nationwide.
Famous for quirky catchphrases and endearing charm, Kirk has been pivotal in several high-octane plots over his years on the show.
His love life alone has seen a whirlwind of action, from a tumultuous connection with Fiz Brown, portrayed by Jennie McAlpine, to a heartfelt but ill-fated romance with Beth Tinker, enacted by Lisa George.
Just last month, soap fans watched in horror as Kirk was left reeling from the death of his stepson and mate Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), who met his end at the hands of villain Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), reports Leicestershire Live.
But it's not just acting chops that Andy has up his sleeve; offscreen, he's wowed his online following with his singing prowess. A TikTok video capturing Andy belting out Kings Of Leon's "Use Somebody" went viral, showcasing his sensational singing voice.
Fans didn't hold back their shock, with one commenting: "What a voice! Didn't know he could saaaang!" while another admitted: "When I tell u I had to pick my jaw back up off the floor when I realised that's Kirky."
Fans and co-stars were wowed by the unexpected vocal talent of Coronation Street's Andy Whyment, with one admirer commenting: "His voice is amazing."
Another social media user expressed surprise, writing: "I was not expecting that!" and a third supporter added praise saying, "Go on lads.. got some vocals didn't expect that kirky lad."
Andy Whyment isn't just known for his role in Coronation Street; he's also an alum of The Royle Family, Heartbeat, and Cracker. Andy took on the jungle challenge in I'm A Celeb back in 2019 and made a return for the All Stars edition in 2023.
Away from the limelight, Andy cherishes family life with his wife Nicola, tying the knot in 2007. The couple have two children together, and Andy has often spoken affectionately about his "gorgeous" wife, joking that he's "punching above my weight for years".
Andy proudly states that he and Nicola are a perfect match, boasting they "never argue" and "get on so well".

AI used to aid Love Island casting process, ITV boss says
Speaking as ITV announced its half-year results, Dame Carolyn McCall said the broadcaster uses AI in many ways. 'We will use AI in any way we can to make what we do more efficient,' she told members of the media. 'And a great example of that for me from (ITV) Studios is they're using a tool where it's a smart editing assistance and it's about speed and quality. 'And they used it for Love Island and casting this year. 'So that productivity gain means that they can go and do other things, which is really, really good.' Love Island has been a huge ratings hit for ITV since its launch in 2015, with each series receiving around 100,000 applications from members of the public. A spokeswoman for ITV later explained that generative AI does not make any decisions during the Love Island casting process, but is used to edit hundreds of hours of footage into highlight reels for members of the team to then watch. 'It simply assists with the editing of audition tapes during the casting period,' she said. 'We get thousands and thousands of applications every year and we hold face to face auditions. 'When we get to the stage of narrowing it down to hundreds of prospective Islanders and we want to share audition highlights on a reel with the ITV commissioning team, to support the casting decision, we use the software (Quickture along with an Adobe editing programme) to edit the hundreds of hours of footage into highlight reels. 'It means that the casting team can then spend more time researching and finding more prospective Islanders.' Announcing its latest results on Thursday, ITV said it had stepped up cost-cutting plans again following a slump in half-year profits. The broadcaster said it was slashing costs by another £15 million, on top of £30 million previously announced, with spend on content being trimmed. The group flagged using technology among efforts to drive the latest round of cost-cutting.

Emmy Award winner Anna Friel is about to showcase her acting talents in BBC's newest drama Unforgivable, alongside a hugely stellar cast Anna Friel is once again returning to screens and Liverpool - a city that she has always held dear after her acting career took off massively following a stint on the hugely popular British soap opera Brookside, in 1993. She played the role of Beth Jordache, portraying the first openly lesbian character in a soap, including the famous kissing scene with Nicola Stephenson, who depicted Margaret Clemence. Anna's brother Joe, played by Bobby Schofield, is the person who has committed the awful crimes and has been released from prison after serving a two year jail term. Alongside Anna and Bobby, Line of Duty actress Anna Maxwell Martin, takes on the role of Katherine, a former nun, who is helping Joe to rehabilitate through therapy. Adolescence star Austin Hayes, stars as Anna's eldest son and David Threlfall, plays the role of Anna's father, who becomes angry after realising she'd reached out to her abuser brother Joe. Each character has a unique role to play with showcasing how sexual abuse can completely ripple through a family as they all attempt to regain a sense of normality after facing the aftermath of such a devastating crime. The drama has landed on BBC's streaming platform this morning at 6am and will air tonight, from 9pm on BBC2, with the compelling story already proving to be a drama not to be missed. Away from the launch of the much talked about feature, Anna Friel has paid tribute to her Unforgivable co-stars and explained what life was really like behind-the-scenes. Speaking about her relationship with the star-studded cast, she had nothing but praise to air for her on-screen peers. In a conversation with BBC, she said: "I loved my scenes with David Threlfall, he became a new friend in my life." The former soap star added: "I hadn't met Anna Maxwell Martin before, but I've always thought she's an amazing actress and it was wonderful to find she's an amazing person. "We didn't have any scenes together apart from in the courtroom, but I'm a big fan. Bobby provides such a complex performance." Unforgivable will air on BBC Two at 9pm this Thursday and will be available on BBC iPlayer from the same day.

Loose Women panellists Coleen Nolan and Nadia Sawalha have opened up about being targeted by scammers who threatened to leak intimate videos of them 'enjoying some alone time.' Speaking on the ITV panel show, the pair candidly revealed the terrifying ordeals they had been subjected to by fraudsters trying to extort money from them. The topic of sex extortion has been circulating in recent weeks, as evidence emerges that sex scammers drive teenagers to take their own lives out of fear of what would happen if their intimate photos were leaked. Actress and TV personality Nadia Sawalha shared that she received a 'sextortion' email just days earlier, beginning crudely: 'Hello pervert.' The 60-year-old said: 'The email read "We have all the videos of you having a happy time - giving yourself some alone time." 'And I thought, "I don't think I have any videos of that." But then I felt fear again because, with deep fakes, could there be?' 'Deep fakes' are videos of a person in which their face or body has been digitally altered so they appear to be someone else. For example, someone's face could be digitally applied to the body of someone else performing a sex act - although the innocent party had no involvement at all. 'I felt anxious,' Nadia continued. 'I'm a 60-year-old woman who's listened to countless podcasts about this. 'I know the information, I've read stuff about it, I've read terrifying stories about children killing themselves.' She added: 'Because I had all that information, by the time I got to the end of the email, I simply deleted the email because I knew that this was a phishing expedition.' In the modern dating era, the panellists said, it is not uncommon for youngsters to share sexual photos or videos with their partners - meaning they are much more susceptible to such scams. Singer Coleen Nolan, also 60, revealed she had 'the exact same' experience around 18 months ago. Coleen explained how panic set in when she realised someone could have hacked her phone. 'Reading down, it said, "We've got all your videos and what you've done." I was just like, "Please can you send them to me, I'd be interested in seeing them as I've never made one in my life." 'But it was horrendous,' she added, while Nadia said: 'You do feel panicked, don't you?' Coleen continued: 'I knew I hadn't made the videos but had they hacked into my phone? Were they going to lie on that? 'They said they were going to send it to my family and my work and kids. I did click in and then I deleted it.' The discussion follows a powerful Channel 4 documentary titled Hunting My Sextortion Scammer, which sees Rizzle Kicks musician Jordan Stephens fly thousands of miles to confront a fraudster. The 33-year-old, who is one half of the pop duo alongside Harley Alexander-Sule, also 33, 'gets himself sextorted' to expose the tactics criminals use to sexually blackmail young British men and boys. He tracks down his blackmailer and attempts to confront them. In an exclusive clip obtained by MailOnline, the music star tries to keep his cool as he has a calm conversation with his scammer on the phone via Instagram. Jordan tells viewers: 'It sounds like my sextorter is getting more and more wound up,' as the camera zooms in on their conversation on the social media app. The scammer messages him: 'Show me your account now,' to which Jordan replies: 'No, I've already paid.' The sextorter tells Jordan: 'No, is not working bro' alongside three angry face emojis. Moments later the singer gets a call and answers with: 'Hello.' The scammer replies: 'Let tell you something now. I swear down with my life if you don't even try to understand me, I swear down, I'll destroy your life. 'It's better you get me $200 now.' Jordan replies: 'I gave it to you! I gave it to you!' He then tells viewers: 'I need my sextorter to believe he'll get his money if he clicks on that share location link on our fake gift card site.' The scammer says: 'I don't know how to redeem it. Do you want me to destroy your life?' Jordan tells him in a panic: 'I don't have any more money. You put the code in.' 'It's not working, I swear down,' the fraudster says. 'I've done it several times. It's not working. 'You should redeem the card at your place and then send me $200 back. Then I free you!'
