Cristian Chivu Praises Last-Minute Hero In Inter Milan 2-1 Urawa Red Diamonds FIFA Club World Cup Win: 'He's Worked Hard, Great To See Him Happy'
Cristian Chivu says Valentin Carboni has 'worked hard' to get to the point of scoring the late winner for Inter Milan against Urawa Red Diamonds.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the match. He also admitted that the win 'wasn't easy' for his Nerazzurri side.

Valentin Carboni was not the likeliest hero for Inter Milan against Urawa Red Diamonds.
The Argentine is only just coming back from an ACL tear that has kept him out since October.
But it was Carboni who Inter coach Cristian Chivu turned to late in the Nerazzurri's Club World Cup match against Urawa Red Diamonds.
When Chivu threw the 20-year-old on off the bench, Inter were trailing 0-1 in the Club World Cup group stage clash.
However, Lautaro Martinez was able to find the equalizer for Inter.
From then on, it looked as though the Nerazzurri would be settling for a point.
However, it was Carboni who found himself with the ball at his feet inside the penalty area in stoppage time. And the Argentine showed great technique and composure to tuck the ball into the far corner.

'He hadn't played in eight months. He worked hard to recover.'
'I'm happy to see him happy,' Chivu said of the match-winner.
Then, Chivu commented that 'the opposition played a good match, a serious match.'
'As for us, we tried everything to score. And to create confusion in an organized defense that defended very deep.'
The Inter coach then noted that 'in the second half, with Pio coming on, we tried to make better use of crosses.'
'We kept believing in it right until the end. And we did it.'
'I'm proud because against a solid team like Urawa, it wasn't easy,' Chivu declared.

Women's EURO 2025 Group B: Who joins superb Spain?
The Women's Euros is finally here and it's time to look at how the world champions will kick off their campaign. It's Group B ... The Teams World champions Spain will be expected to top this group, with Italy alongside tournament regulars Italy, opportunistic Belgium, and improving Portugal. Spain lead on flair; Italy offer structure; Belgium and Portugal lurk to pounce. The Favourites: Spain Obviously. The world champions are simply stacked with talent and they manage to package it together with a dominant style of play. Advertisement Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas, Mariona Caldentey, Clàudia Pina, Salma Paralluelo. And those are just some of the names likely to score and create, there's just as much talent at the other end of the pitch too with the likes of Ona Battle, Patri Guijarro, Irene Paredes and Olga Carmona. You couldn't ask for a greater combination of technical ability, tactical intelligence, and know-how at the highest level. The Key Clash: Belgium vs Italy Spain are expected to top the group, but who will join them? Italy are the favourites, but they will not have it easy against a Belgium side who beat England back in April. Advertisement Belgium went on to beat Portugal 3-0 in June in the Nations League, and the teams will meet again on matchday three. If Belgium can head into that one having taken points off of Italy, they will fancy their chances of repeating their 2022 trip to the knockout rounds. Key Players Clàudia Pina (Spain) - It's a first big tournament for the 23-year-old, who made two sub appearances in 2022 and wasn't at the 2023 World Cup. Pina scored 10 UWCL goals in 2024/25, plus another 10 in Liga F. Her combination play will help her fit into a Spain side that dominates possession, but her biggest asset will be the drive and directness she offers when needed. Manuela Giugliano (Italy) - A holding midfielder who can dictate games, plus she's an ace from set‑piece situations, Giugliano's vision and passing unlock stubborn defences and inject tempo when needed. Expect Italy's play to go through her. Tessa Wullaert (Belgium) - Belgium's all‑time record goalscorer, pacey, a clincal finisher. Wullaert can link play too but it's her sharp movement and composure that Belgium will be leaning on when chances present themselves. Jéssica Silva (Portugal) - In a tough group, the Gotham winger will provide the vital productivity and creativity that Portugal require if they are to make it into the knockout stage. Saquon Barkley: I "never heard a word" from Commanders, Cowboys
The Giants get plenty of criticism for allowing running back Saquon Barkley to become a free agent in 2024. They weren't alone in their decision not to make him part of the team moving forward. Two of their top rivals never even called Barkley. Advertisement "Never heard a word from the Commanders or Dallas," Barkley told someone who is apparently known as Janky Rondo (lay off me, I'm old) at a recent celebrity softball game. "That's why it's BTA when I see them." The Commanders weren't in position to make a run at an elite running back. The Cowboys were, especially with Tony Pollard leaving in free agency for the Titans. Dallas rightfully was criticized at the time for not showing interest in former Titans running back Derrick Henry, who was interested in playing for the Cowboys. Dallas didn't catch much flak for not pursuing Saquon. There's no guarantee it would have worked nearly as well for Saquon in Dallas as it has in Philadelphia. And he definitely wouldn't have had the kind of individual and team success with the Giants that he had with the Eagles. Advertisement The Eagles were the perfect team to pursue him. They had everything else. His arrival provided a potent layer of icing on an award-winning cake. So he should be glad that it wasn't a difficult decision, with perhaps a lesser team than the Eagles offering him something significantly more financially. He also should be glad that the Giants let him get away, allowing him to "BTA" when playing the other teams in the NFC East. And pretty much everyone else.

‘Big Ghost in a Circus'-Zlatan Ibrahimovic Weighs in on Messi, Inter Miami Thrashing
Zlatan Ibrahimović has slated Inter Miami in his defense of Lionel Messi following the team's elimination from the FIFA Club World Cup. Having pulled off an unlikely group-stage victory over Porto to progress to the knockout bracket, Miami fell 4–0 to reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16. That ends their tournament with $21.05 million in prize money, still far more than the club could earn from a championship-winning season in Major League Soccer. Ibrahimović hasn't always come across as the greatest Messi fan over the years, perhaps frustration left over from his own disappointing season at Barcelona in 2009–10 when Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side was built around Messi, Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta. But, after seeing his former club wipe the floor with Miami, the retired Swede piled all of the blame on Messi's teammates, diverting it away from the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. "Messi's defeat? No, don't talk about the defeat as if it was his fault! Messi didn't lose, Inter Miami did! Have you seen this team?" Ibrahimović said immediately afterwards, via Footmercato. Copyright ABG-SI LLC.
