Caitlin Clark will miss game vs Sparks with new injury amid shooting woes

For the second time this season, Caitlin Clark will be missing time with an injury.
The Indiana Fever superstar missed five games with a calf injury and returned earlier this month.
However, the Fever announced on Thursday that the second-year phenom will miss their game against the Los Angeles Sparks with a left groin injury.

This may point to Clark's most recent shooting woes. In her return from injury, she dropped 11 of her first 20 shots from three-point range. But in her last three contests, she is just 1-for-23 from deep.
In that span, she has scored 11, 19, and six points, but has recorded nine, 10, and nine assists.
In total, Clark is 13-for-47 (27.7%) from the floor. Each of those three games were on the road, and the Fever went 1-2 in that stretch, winning their most recent contest against the Seattle Storm.

"She'll be fine," teammate Lexie Hull told reporters after the game, via the Indy Star . "We're not worried about it. She's a great shooter, she's a great player. This happens to every player, every great player. She'll be fine."
Aaliyah Boston had 31 points and eight rebounds, while Kelsey Mitchell added 26, to pick up Clark through her struggles.
The Fever are currently 7-7 - Los Angeles will enter the contest at 4-11. It is a brief return home for the Fever before they go back on the road for two more games. They will then begin a five-game homestand.
Clark had never missed time due to injury until this year. She was also dealing with a leg injury during the preseason and missed one game.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Gaudreau has been traded by the Minnesota Wild to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a draft pick. Did the Philadelphia 76ers, by not taking Ace Bailey, did they, did that signal a philosophical change? Because if any team is going to pick a player who says, no, I'm not playing for you, it's the 76ers. Are they learning something? Or is this just a temporary stay of execution given the fact that they got Paul George? Advertisement I, I think it shows two different things. I think it shows they're prioritizing both the short term and the long term, and then they're not going to take a risk on a guy that doesn't help you maximize your chances today. I think they got it, they have no choice but to gamble that Joel LeB stays healthy and that Paul George has a bounce back year. They have to hope for the promising upside of what could be. Like they, they banked on Paul George being their free agent acquisition. It worked out and then it didn't work out during the season, but maybe this year will be different. Like it's just possible. Advertisement And so I think VJ Edgecombe helps as a role player in the short term, where all those concerns you're talking about long term don't matter, but in the long term, maybe he ends up figuring it out as a shot creator and he plays more like that long term. So I like to pick for For Maury and the Sixers there at 3 because it checks both those short-term and long-term boxes. Um, will it get them over the top? That depends on and beat and Paul George and you're shaking your head like it's just not gonna and like that's totally fair. But maybe 1 year, maybe 1 year stars aligned, is that what you're saying? You believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny too, Kevin? I get some young listeners. Of course I do.

Dietrich Enns throws 5 scoreless innings in return to majors as Tigers beat A's
Dietrich Enns pitched five scoreless innings in his return to the majors as the Detroit Tigers beat the Athletics 8-0 on Thursday. Enns (1-0) gave up a single and two walks in his first game since he threw two scoreless innings for the Tampa Bay Rays against the Miami Marlins on Sept. 24, 2021. The 34-year-old pitched for the Seibu Lions in Japan from 2022-23 before going 13-6 last season for the LG Twins in South Korea. Jeffrey Springs (5-6) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks in five innings. Spencer Torkelson and Gleyber Torres homered for the Tigers while Zach McKinstry had three hits, including a double and a triple. Torkelson, who came into the game hitting .193 with nine homers in his past 54 games, led off the second with his 17th home run of the season. Jahmai Jones hit a two-run double to put the Tigers up 3-0 in the third. Torres hit a two-run homer to make it 5-0 in the seventh. McKinstry hit a two-run triple in the eighth and scored on a sacrifice fly. The Athletics had runners on first and second with no one out in the third, but Enns retired Jacob Wilson on a fly to right and got Brent Rooker to ground into a double play. The win was the third of Enns' MLB career. The first two came against Detroit on Sept. 11 and 16, 2021. The Athletics continue their road trip with a weekend series against the New York Yankees. RHP Will Warren (4-4, 4.56) is scheduled to start Friday's opener for the Yankees. Detroit will have RHP Sawyer Gipson-Long (0-0, 4.58) pitching on Friday in the first of three home games against the Minnesota Twins.
