Prove your Oasis ability at Wonderwall World Championships in Edinburgh and win a wall of beer
Oasis fans will have the chance to step into the spotlight and belt out one of Britpop's most iconic anthems as the first-ever Wonderwall World Championships lands in Edinburgh.
The one-day singing competition will take place tomorrow, Saturday, August 9, at Stockbridge Social, a new outdoor food and drink market in the city, powered by Innis & Gunn. The event is timed perfectly for the afternoon before Oasis take the stage for their second night at Murrayfield.
The inaugural event gives gig-goers a chance to warm up their vocals ahead of the Murrayfield concert with a live rendition of Wonderwall. With over 2.4billion streams on Spotify and a permanent spot on karaoke charts worldwide, Wonderwall remains one of the most recognisable tracks in British music.
Now, fans will be able to test their vocal chops in front of a live audience, with the chance to win a fittingly boozy prize.
Hosted by broadcaster Craig Telfer, known for fronting Scottish football show A View from the Terrace, the competition will be judged by a panel of self-declared Wonderwall experts.
The winning performance will be awarded a 'Wonderwall' of Innis & Gunn beer, a six-foot display of the brewery's award-winning Scottish lager.
Every brave performer will also receive a pint of Innis & Gunn lager just for getting up and giving it a go.
The event is being staged in honour of Oasis' long-awaited return to the capital. The Gallagher brothers are reuniting for three sold-out shows at Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9, and 12, their first performances in Scotland since 2009.
Innis & Gunn are encouraging fans to come along and give their best version of the song that has been a staple of pub singalongs, student flats and festival fields since it first hit the charts in 1995. Entry is free and open to anyone on the day.
'Like Oasis, we have never been afraid to do things our own way,' said Dougal Sharp, Founder and Master Brewer at Innis & Gunn.
"Wonderwall has cemented itself into British culture and everybody knows it. And after all, as soon as those opening chords ring out, you know it's going to be a good time.
'With the Gallaghers coming to Edinburgh, we thought it was the perfect time to let people have their own moment in the spotlight. Grab a pint, grab the mic and show us your Wonderwall .'
The contest will be held at Stockbridge Social, a new venture from Innis & Gunn located at the Edinburgh Academicals sports ground.
The market offers an eclectic mix of food and drink, including Cromars, previously voted East Scotland's best fish and chips, steak frites from Flame to Fork, and cult pizza favourites Wanderers Kneaded.
Alongside Innis & Gunn's full beer range, drinks on offer will include locally produced Edinburgh Gin and Lost Orchards cider, made from apples grown in Scottish orchards that are being brought back to life.
Stockbridge Social adds to Innis & Gunn's growing presence in the capital, joining their existing location on the Mound.
The Wonderwall World Championships kicks off from 1pm on Saturday, August 9, with free entry for all Oasis fans and brave karaoke hopefuls alike.

During the paper review, which aired at 620am, they kicked off with a report in the I about US Vice President JD Vance's warning to the UK. They then touched on issues of children being safe in schools and checks on British travellers visiting Europe. Yet despite covering off a host of news stories from other publications they failed to mention our BBC Breakfast exclusive, teased on the splash. It features an image of Naga, 50, and the words "Naga row grows." After their short media review, the presenting pair then swiftly moved on to a segment about BBC Four series, The Archers. It came after we put the spotlight on the BBC Breakfast feuds ripping the daily show apart - including Naga's meltdown on how her Marmite was spread. Yet this week we also exclusively reported how Charlie, 63, is joining Naga "under review" after a string of complaints. The process will decide if the pair will face a formal investigation. NAGA MELTDOWN Previously, it was reported how under-fire BBC presenter Naga has a reputation for going "ballistic" at junior staff. Naga Munchetty interrupts BBC Breakfast to issue apology after guest is abruptly cut off in live blunder They also revealed that she humiliated an intern who didn't make her porridge perfectly. An insider told the Mail: "She has a reputation for going at young members of staff and making them out to be fools. "She would kick off about the smallest of issues, including one time she went ballistic over her breakfast not being prepared exactly how she likes it by an intern." Naga then refused to eat porridge delivered to her by an intern during an ad break as it was too hot for her to eat in the time she had. Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast? The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are: Jon Kay - Since 2022 Sally Nugent - Since 2021 Charlie Stayt - Since 2006 Naga Munchetty - Since 2014 Carol Kirkwood - Since 1997 "The guy walked off the set utterly humiliated and went back to chuck it away before trying again in time for the next ad break, it was pretty brutal to watch," the insider added. A BBC spokesperson said: 'While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously and will not tolerate behaviour that is not in line with our values. 'We have robust processes in place and would encourage any staff with concerns to raise them directly with us so they can be addressed.' 7 Charlie was seen carrying a coffee as he headed to his vehicle Credit: Splash 7 Naga covered up in a pair of sunglasses Credit: Splash

Matt Tebbut admits 'I walked into that one' during awkward exchange with Naga Munchetty
The handover between BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty and Saturday Kitchen star Matt Tebbutt took an awkward turn. BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty and Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt couldn't resist poking fun of each other during their usual handover. Each Saturday, Matt's beloved cook show follows the morning news, where Naga and her co-host Charlie bring all of the latest updates across the nation. Before BBC Breakfast concludes for the day, viewers are taken over to Matt and his team, live in their studio for a sneak-preview of what is yet to come on his beloved programme. On today's show, Matt found himself eating his words after he'd introduced all of his guests who would feature as part of the line-up, including a visit from British actress and author Celia Imrie, who is best known for her role in the Bridget Jones films series, Calendar Girls and Nanny McPhee, to name a few. Matt had also been joined on the programme by Canadian extraordinaire Carmen O'Neal who is famed for her expertise when it comes to cocktail making. She had joined the panel, rustling up some alcoholic surprises for the entire team, including her famed drink of the summer "white port with tonic". As the Saturday Kitchen star finished introductions, his attention turned to Carmen who was dressed to impressed, wearing a fabulous red frock and matching lipstick for the occasion. He commented: "Nice, really showing me up on the wardrobe front as well." Without a moment's thought, the cocktail and spirits expert hilariously put Matt in his place, telling him: "I usually do," as everyone in the studio burst into laughter and applauded her quick-witted clap back. Realising he had nothing better to comment, Matt admitted: "I walked into that one," as he attempted to get the show back on track and returning once again to Naga and Charlie in the BBC Breakfast studio. Looking rather red faced but with a smile, he said: "Ok there you go, we'll see you at 10am." Naga of course, was not about to let him off the hook that easily. Getting in on the action, she playfully jibed: "At least it's coming from that end of the studio this time." As Matt began to chuckle while telling her: "Yeah it's usually you." Shutting down the roar of giggles that swarmed across both BBC sets, Naga hit back: "You look lovely but yes, she definitely looks better."
