Cooper Cronk warns Broncos coach Michael Maguire against massive Reece Walsh mistake
Reynolds could be back in time for the finals, but Billy Walters and Ben Hunt will fill the void in the halves in the meantime. It means fullback Walsh will be tasked with playing a bigger role in attack, and it could make or break the Broncos' season.
Walsh has been hot-and-cold in 2025, and has been guilty of trying to overplay his hand at times. He's made a number of mistakes in recent weeks while trying to produce a big play, and many believe he needs to try and scale things back.
But legendary half Cronk believes Walsh's high-octane play might be just what the doctor ordered for Michael Maguire's side. Cronk reckons the Broncos should go all-out with Walsh in an attempt to take down the Dolphins in the Brisbane derby on Saturday.
'He is the key,' Cronk said on Fox League on Tuesday night. 'I'm looking forward to seeing how Reece Walsh goes this week. There is a narrative that says he has to tone down his performances, but that was when everyone was fit and in the team.
"It's like, 'OK Reece, you have been trying to get your best football'. This team needs you to get it right, right now, so go for it and go out there and play like you are the dominant player.
'Because if he starts missing the mark and goes completely 'AWOL', the Broncos are no chance. But I feel like if Reece catches fire for a month, you are thinking, yes the Broncos have something.'
Cronk highlighted the double-edged sword of Walsh's game. If he fails to fire, the Broncos are in serious danger of missing the NRL finals. But if he can take control and produce his best over the next month, Brisbane will be a serious force when they get some key troops back.

Denan Kemp's pointed message to Reece Walsh
Speaking on SEN radio this week, former Broncos player Denan Kemp said Walsh needs to make a decision about what kind of player he wants to be. "He's got to make a decision as a player, what he wants to be," Kemp said. "If he was on $600,000, that's fine, he can be up and down and have your big moments.
"But you can't build a club around a guy that is so up and down. And it's not just on the field. I think even off the field, mentally, he needs to find a way to calm his mind. He needs to take a step back and get level. Otherwise you are not going to be able to build a club around him and he is just going to get more and more frustrated and it's going to get worse and worse."

Hall of Famer Terrell Davis making a difference for kids on the golf course
Former Denver Broncos running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis was the headliner at Bank of America's "Golf With Us" event on Monday in Ken Caryl, Colorado. "I'm a golfing fanatic," Davis told Broncos Wire. "I love to be able to give back to kids and do events like this. You know they have this event where Bank of America they're partnering with Golf With Us, and it's an initiative which is designed to make golf more accessible for kids throughout this country." One of the benefits from this event is for youth to learn life lessons -- even some life lessons that Davis learned on the gridiron. "A lot of stuff I learned on a football field, I apply in golf, which is really resiliency, man, because this game will test you," said Davis with a chuckle. "You gotta be able to bounce back; you gotta be able to kind of plan things out and then control what you can control. I kind of had that same mentality when I played in the league and it's kind of funny how the same things to apply in golf and not only golf, but in life." For Davis, this event was about providing access to a sport he loves, something that Davis didn't have growing up. "I think the biggest thing (with this event) is just access; growing up in the community that I grew up in, we didn't have access to a lot of things and you sort of have a mindset where it's not -- if you don't have a growth mindset, you don't have access to things that aren't in your daily life," said Davis. "No matter what I do, I try to expose my kids to places that they've never been to, events that they've never seen, sports they've never played. And then, obviously you know whether it's restaurants or golf courses, whatever it is. "I just feel like it makes you not only more well-rounded, but it gives you a bigger plan in terms of your ideas and seeing in life in a different way. For a lot of these kids, this will be the first time that they've ever golfed and probably didn't understand golf, what the golf courses were, probably don't understand how fun golf is. It's a sport for life. Anytime, no matter what age you are, what kind of handicap you have on the golf course, anybody can play." Test cricket could 'bankrupt' nations
The traditional Test calendar could lead to bankruptcy for certain nations, Cricket Australia chief Todd Greenberg warned as he called for a slimmed-down schedule. Greenberg wants quality prioritised over quantity to ensure a viable future for red-ball cricket. The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently set up a working group to discuss the Test format and the potential to introduce a two-tier system. "Scarcity in Test cricket is our friend, not our foe," said Greenberg. "I don't think everyone in world cricket needs to aspire to play Test cricket, and that might be OK. "We're literally trying to send countries bankrupt if we force them to try to play Test cricket." 'England and India provide most intense, dramatic and emotional finale' Is Test cricket financially sustainable? Is two-tier Test system 'greedy' or will it help cricket survive? Greenberg wants to see marquee series such as the Ashes between England and Australia - the 2025-26 series gets under way in Australia in 100 days' time - receive greater investment. The pulsating five-match series between England and India this summer was Test cricket at its finest. However, Australia won each of their three Tests in the West Indies by at least 133 runs, while New Zealand cruised to a comfortable series victory in Zimbabwe - winning one of the Tests by an innings and 359 runs. "We need to make sure we invest in the right spaces to play Test cricket where it means something and has jeopardy," Greenberg added. "That's why the Ashes will be as enormous and profitable as it is - because it means something." The emergence of shorter forms of the sport has proved difficult for Test cricket, with T20 franchise leagues and The Hundred offering lucrative player contracts in domestic cricket, and adding further congestion to the global calendar.
