Hall of Famer Terrell Davis making a difference for kids on the golf course
"I'm a golfing fanatic," Davis told Broncos Wire. "I love to be able to give back to kids and do events like this. You know they have this event where Bank of America they're partnering with Golf With Us, and it's an initiative which is designed to make golf more accessible for kids throughout this country."
One of the benefits from this event is for youth to learn life lessons -- even some life lessons that Davis learned on the gridiron.
"A lot of stuff I learned on a football field, I apply in golf, which is really resiliency, man, because this game will test you," said Davis with a chuckle. "You gotta be able to bounce back; you gotta be able to kind of plan things out and then control what you can control. I kind of had that same mentality when I played in the league and it's kind of funny how the same things to apply in golf and not only golf, but in life."
For Davis, this event was about providing access to a sport he loves, something that Davis didn't have growing up. "I think the biggest thing (with this event) is just access; growing up in the community that I grew up in, we didn't have access to a lot of things and you sort of have a mindset where it's not -- if you don't have a growth mindset, you don't have access to things that aren't in your daily life," said Davis. "No matter what I do, I try to expose my kids to places that they've never been to, events that they've never seen, sports they've never played. And then, obviously you know whether it's restaurants or golf courses, whatever it is.
"I just feel like it makes you not only more well-rounded, but it gives you a bigger plan in terms of your ideas and seeing in life in a different way. For a lot of these kids, this will be the first time that they've ever golfed and probably didn't understand golf, what the golf courses were, probably don't understand how fun golf is. It's a sport for life. Anytime, no matter what age you are, what kind of handicap you have on the golf course, anybody can play."

Cardinals vs. Broncos: Preseason Game 2 Q&A preview with Broncos Wire
Heading into the preseason matchup, Broncos Wire managing editor Jon Heath takes Cardinals 'behind enemy lines' The Arizona Cardinals face the Denver Broncos Saturday night. Kickoff from Empower Field at Mile High is at 9:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. Arizona time). The two teams already had a joint practice on Thursday, so neither team will have starters on the field, save a few, in the actual game. To get ready for the game, Broncos Wire managing editor Jon Heath answered a few questions to preview the matchup and take Cardinals fans "behind enemy lines." Below are my questions and his responses. Broncos' preseason opener What was the good and the not so good from the Broncos' preseason opener? First, the not so good: The starting defense allowed the 49ers to march down the field and score a touchdown on the opening drive, then the first-team offense stalled on their opening possession and Bo Nix took an intentional grounding penalty in the end zone for a safety on the second drive. The good: Denver's first-team defense bounced back, and the backup defenders had an excellent showing. The Broncos' first-team offense also managed a field goal on their third and final drive, and rookie running back RJ Harvey showed some flashes with the starters. This week, Denver fans will hope to see Nix lead a touchdown drive in his brief action. Camp storylines What have been the most interesting storylines in camp so far? The running back battle is fascinating. J.K. Dobbins and Harvey are expected to carry the bulk of the load, but Denver has three other capable running backs competing for (at most) two spots. Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie and 2024 fifth-round pick Audric Estime all deserve a spot on a 53-man roster, but not all of them will be with the Broncos in Week 1. Player standouts Which Broncos players have stood out the most? Trent Sherfield joined the team as a special teams ace, but he's turned heads on offense this summer. He'll be a player to watch. Undrafted rookie receiver Joaquin Davis has been a standout at training camp and outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper seems to be trending toward a breakout year. Player health How healthy is the team? They're pretty healthy for this time of year. There are a few players with knocks, but overall, the Broncos are in pretty good shape. Sean Payton plays his starters in preseason, and typically into the second quarter in the second preseason game. After doing two joint practice this summer, though, Payton hinted that starters might not get extended action in Arizona. Nix and Co. will be out there, but probably not beyond the first quarter. The starters will not play. 2025 expectations What do the Broncos expect from the 2025 season? Sean Payton has set Super Bowl aspirations. That doesn't mean they'll get there, but the Broncos haven't been shy about talking about it. After going 10-7 and reaching the playoffs last fall, Denver upgraded an already-stout defense and improved an underwhelming running back room. It remains to be seen if the Broncos end up being an actual Super Bowl contender, but they should be able to compete for a division title in the AFC West. Cardinals vs. Broncos preseason: 4 player connections between Arizona, Denver
Both the Cardinals and the Broncos have two players on their rosters who played for the other team. The Arizona Cardinals' second preseason game is Saturday night against the Denver Broncos. The game kicks off at 9:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. ET) from Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. Neither the Cardinals nor the Broncos will play their starters, with perhaps a few exceptions. The Cardinals and Broncos are not frequent regular-season opponents, but they often meet in the preseason. There are some player connections. Two Cardinals players used to play for the Broncos, while a pair of Broncos used to be Cardinals. Who are those player connections? While we still have large offseason 90-man (or 91 players with an international exemption) rosters, all four players connected to the other team are likely to be on the final roster. Cardinals OLB Baron Browning Browning was drafted by the Broncos in the third round in 2021. He played three and a half seasons in Denver and was traded to the Cardinals last season. The Cardinals re-signed him to a two-year deal in the offseason. He had 9.5 sacks between 2022-2023 and the Cardinals hope he can be a productive pass rusher for them. He might not play in the game, as he is part of the first-team defense, although he isn't a starter. Cardinals LS Aaron Brewer Brewer enters his 10th season as the Cardinals' long snapper, but he began his career in Denver. He was the Broncos' long snapper from 2012-2015. Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said earlier in the week that Brewer would be one of the captains for this game. Broncos DL Zach Allen Allen was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round in 2020. He has become one of the best interior defenders in the league. He enters his third season with the Broncos and signed a recent contract extension. He had 8.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and 40 quarterback hits last season, all career-highs. He won't play against the Cardinals in the preseason game. Broncos WR Trent Sherfield Sherfield entered the NFL in 2018 as a rookie free agent with the Cardinals, and he made the roster and spent three seasons with them as a special teams ace. He continues to be great on special teams, but he has impressed on offense this offseason. Sherfield likely will see preseason action on Saturday. Cardinals fans can get lots of live preseason coverage on NFL Network before the Cardinals and Broncos play. The Arizona Cardinals have their second preseason game of the year Saturday night and face the Denver Broncos. It will be a battle of backups, as the two teams held a joint practice on Thursday and both have decided to sit their starters, so it will be a first-half battle between Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett and Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham. The game, while it will be on television locally on Arizona's Family CBS 5 and have Dave Pasch and Sam Acho calling the game, it is also part of the preseason live coverage on NFL Network. It is the final of four games that will air live.
