Marvel's New Fighting Game Looks Simply Awesome

Marvel's New Fighting Game Looks Simply Awesome

Gizmodo3 days ago

PlayStation's State of Play livestream brought exciting news for fans of Marvel's fighting games, with a surprising twist. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls—arriving in 2026 for PC and PS5—is coming not from Capcom, developer of so many past Marvel games in the genre, but instead from a different Japanese company, Arc System Works (Guilty Gear, BlazBlue).
Also of note, the game is a 4v4 tag-team fighter, and features some snazzy tokusatsu-inspired designs for its large roster of familiar characters.
The announcement trailer touting the collaboration between PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games gives you some eye candy to go with those details:
PlayStation's official blog offers a few more details beyond that incredibly fun and high-energy teaser video:
'Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters,' explained game director and lead battle designer Kazuto Sekine. 'But for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you only need to master one character in order to play the game. We have designed the mechanics in such a way that you can perform a variety of actions with either traditional fighting game inputs or simple inputs. With the press of a few buttons, multiple characters can appear on screen to provide backup or attack together—creating a new and exciting team VS battle experience.'
Those characters, the teaser and the blog post confirm, include Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Storm, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes). They will each feature 'a bespoke set of Normal, Special, and Unique attacks inspired by their abilities and powers in Marvel lore,' with special consideration given to the game's format as a specifically 4v4 tag-team fighter.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls arrives next year. Will you be checking out based on this first extended glimpse?

Review: PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS is an Ultra-Violent, Visually Striking Evolution of the Franchise — GeekTyrant

Predator: Killer of Killers is an absolute blast! It's brutal, beautifully animated, and emotionally rich in ways I honestly didn't expect going in. This thing does not hold back. From the opening scene to the final surprising frame, the movie barrels forward with a savage intensity that makes it feel like you're being hunted right alongside its characters. The violence is unapologetic, the action is jaw-dropping, and the whole experience feels like someone finally decided to let the Predator franchise be as bold, artistic, and brutal as it was always meant to be. What really hooked me, though, were the three distinct stories that make up this anthology. Each one focuses on a different warrior throughout history. 'The Shield', 'The Sword', and 'The Bullet', and they're all three are not only packed with killer action, but also grounded in emotional stakes that give the chaos weight. Whether it's the Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, the ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, or the WWII pilot staring down cosmic death in skies, the writing never skimps. I found myself fully invested in each of them, not just for how they fight, but why. The character development across the anthology is strong, especially given the limited runtime for each segment. There's a sense of intimacy in the awesome storytelling, even when the action ramps up to an eleven, that makes each chapter feel personal and mythic at the same time. Each of the settings feel immersive and meaningful to the story being told. These aren't just action vignettes, they're reflections of the characters and the cultures they come from. Then there's the incredible animation. Director Dan Trachtenberg explained that the style was inspired by the concept art from the live-action Predator films, and you can really see it. It has this rich, painterly quality that gives it a kind of storybook-for-grownups look. The action in the film is stylized and theatrical, like you're watching a violent ballet unfold in slow motion… before it all explodes in blood and flame. Each segment feels like a visual poem about death and survival. There's an badass elegance to how they're built with tight structure, great pacing, haunting atmosphere, and then the Predators show up and wreck everything in the most spectacular fashion. The final act, where all the stories tie together, is where the film kicks into a whole new gear of awesomeness. The ending is one insane, fist-pumping beat after another, and it was incredibley greakin' amazing! I also love how the movie expands the Predator universe. This isn't just another cat-and-mouse hunt. Predator: Killer of Killers takes the core idea of a Predator hunting the fiercest warriors and uses it as a lens to explore humanity… our pain, our pride, our violence. It respects the lore while pushing it into new, exciting territory. If this is where the franchise is headed, I'm all in. Let Trachtenberg run wild with it for as long as he wants. Honestly, I wish I could've seen this on the big screen. It's just too damn cool to be confined to a streaming service. Between the jaw-dropping animation, the emotional storytelling, and the sheer scale of its ambition, Predator: Killer of Killers isn't just one of the best Predator films, it's one of the most artistically awesome entries in the sci-fi action genre.

Summer Game Fest 2025: A New Era of Horror Begins With RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM

Capcom had everyone fooled during Summer Games Fest 2025 as they teased potential upcoming information on the next installment within the Resident Evil franchise, only to drop a full trailer at the close of the show. The next video game in the beloved survival-horror franchise is titled Resident Evil Requiem. The trailer lays out part of the narrative, but also teases fans with something they have wanted for a long time—the return to Raccoon City. This will be the first time the franchise has returned to Raccoon City since the government's use of a nuclear bomb to contain the monster-making T-virus. And for many, we thought that with Albert Wesker meeting his end at the end of Resident Evil 5, going back was never going to happen. However, with the last few installments tying the current storyline back to the original, hope started to brew. RELATED: 6 Horror Queens from the Resident Evil Video Game Franchise Resident Evil Requiem Trailer Breakdown The trailer for Resident Evil Requiem introduces a new character to the franchise, Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst. She is also the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a character from the Resident Evil Outbreak series . Alyssa investigated the original outbreak in her hometown of Raccoon City and blew the cover of Umbrella. The resemblance is too uncanny not to be true. At the beginning of the sneak peek, Grace is seen typing up a report about a fourth victim of an unidentified disease found in an abandoned government office. If that isn't suspicious enough, Grace is approached by her boss, who is sending her out on an investigation tied to her current investigation. This new body has led them to the Wrenwood Hotel, the place where her mother was killed eight years ago. Things take a shocking twist as Grace finds herself tied down to a stretcher in a mysterious face. Then the trailer flashes through clips within the hotel, featuring a mysterious gentleman waiting for Grace, followed by flashes of Alyssa, and then numerous shots of Raccoon City devastated by the nuclear bomb. New Era of Horror The official website for Resident Evil Requiem states it will mark the beginning of a new era in the survival horror genre. This is thanks to the team's ability to blend technological advancements with a story full of rich characters and enhanced immersion. Capcom never holds any punches when it comes to taking their games to the next level. The graphics in the trailer look incredible, and getting a chance to tie into a lesser-known installment is exciting. RELATED: Movie Review – Welcome to Raccoon City In true Capcom fashion, little is known about the game. We don't know who the antagonist is or whether any of the franchise's iconic characters will appear. With a return to Raccoon City, we may get, at least, a cameo or two. We haven't seen any gameplay action just yet, but the Steam page does confirm that it will stay in the third-person point of view. We hope that the new installment will feature a mechanic similar to Resident Evil Biohazard, where much of Ethan finds videotapes to help flesh out the story. Grace could find similar things left behind by her mother to explain what had happened. What's Next for Resident Evil? We still have quite a bit of time before Resident Evil Requiem graces our computers and gaming platforms. This means expect more news to come. Capcom is also preparing to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary next year. We don't know much about their plans, but we know it's going to be big. Be sure to check back in over the next few months for updates and enjoy the brand-new trailer below. Resident Evil Requiem drops on February 27, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. RESIDENT EVIL Main Storyline Games, Ranked
