Kaytranada Returns With New Album ‘Ain't No Damn Way'

For the second summer in a row, Haitian-Canadian producer Kaytranada is getting people dancing with a new studio album. The Grammy-winning DJ has released his fourth album Ain't No Damn Way!, the follow-up to last year's Timeless. Kaytranada gave little warning for the release, announcing the LP earlier this week and dropping lead single 'Space Invader' shortly thereafter. Like with Timeless, Kaytranada plays with a wide range of sounds and rhythms on the project, from more upbeat tracks like 'Championship' and 'Don't Worry Babe / I Got U Babe' to laid-back offerings like 'Things' and 'Shine Your Light For We.' He even samples TLC's 'Let's Do It Again' on closing track 'Do It! (Again!).' In recent years, Kaytranada has fully stepped into his power, unafraid to create beats or make musical tweaks that he feel might not resonate with listeners or collaborators. 'I always used to be very shy in the studio and sometimes let the artists just do their thing because I didn't want to correct them or anything. It took me a while to understand, OK, I got to be the one that says 'Do it like this,'" he told Rolling Stone last year. "I don't have a leader mentality. I'm learning to do that now.' Now, Kaytranada is 'trying to make Grammy-winning albums.' 'I just want to be remembered as one of the greats in terms of producing, not only dance and electronic but also just production in general,' he told Billboard. Kaytranada hits the road with Justice on a co-headlining tour across North America this fall. It all kicks off Oct. 16 in Vancouver and wraps up Nov. 16 in Miami. Before then, fans can listen to the producer featured on Teyana Taylor's forthcoming album Escape Room, due out next week.

Rich Brian Returns (Rather Introspectively) With 'WHERE IS MY HEAD?'

Summary WhileRich Brian's internet presence hasn't wavered in the past six years, his solo music output has – and his just-as-online fanbase hasn't let him forget that in his Instagram comments. Taking a lengthy hiatus after his last longform release –1999in 2020, which was preceded by sophomore albumThe Sailorin 2019, and his 2018 debut,Amen –Brian has been busy in the interim. As he returns to the scene with his new project,WHERE IS MY HEAD?,it's clear the88risingartist has spent the last few years deep in the depths of developing not only his artistic vision, but also navigating his psyche, the 15-track album a vessel for all of his discoveries along the way. Having done a lot of looking inward in the past years – even up until the past few months, as he delayed the album due to feeling 'incredibly inspired by the people, places, and sounds' around him – the genre-traversingWHERE IS MY HEAD?not only marks the most introspective release from the candid artist, but also what he believes to be his best. 'Went absolutely nuts on the production for all the songs, some of my fav lyrics and storytelling work I've done so far,' he wrote in an Instagram caption in which he also shared that he wrote most of the album 'in a room by [himself], as 'it just felt too personal to do any other way.' Also signalling his most ambitious and honed-in longform drop,WHERE IS MY HEAD?revolves around a sharp, two-character concept, in which Brian plays both Movie Brian and Maestro Brian, the latter an alter-ego who scores for the former, his on-screen persona. Right from the jump, the first track, 'Senja' – which translates to 'Dusk' in Indonesian – kicks off (and closes out) with an Indonesian intro, laying the groundwork for Brian to lay down his verse. As for the features, the close-to-home collection of music sees contributions from a considered bunch of artists. 'Every feature on this album has been so organic, from the making of the song, to thinking 'wow ___ would sound crazy on this' to me dming them with 0 expectations and having them actually respond n come through and some even willing to take notes & direction from me,' the musician reflected on Instagram, ultimately choosing to tapToro Y Moi,Ski Mask The Slump God,Maxo Kream, redveil,Charlotte Day Wilson, DAISY WORLD and Kurtis Wells to offer their hand to the heartfelt soundscape. 1. Cyndi Lauper to celebrate musical legacy with Bay Area crowd

Decades into her career, Cyndi Lauper still just wants to have fun. The pop singer got her start in the late '70s and rose to mainstream fame with her debut album, 'She's So Unusual,' in 1983. The record included her smash hit 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' and skyrocketed to the top of the charts in more than 25 countries. After years of entertaining, the Grammy winner opted to wind things down with her 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' farewell tour, which kicked off in October 2024 and stopped at Chase Center last November. The San Francisco show saw her 'bop,' shimmy and rock out to her hits, from 'True Colors' to 'Time After Time.' Despite its title, Lauper has clarified that the tour is not a retirement sendoff. The 72-year-old said she'll be open to occasional performances, and wanted to make sure she made one more push for an arena tour while she was still strong enough to give it her all. The trek, her first world tour since 2016, is scheduled to stop in the Bay Area once again at Mountain View's Shoreline Amphitheatre.
