Alonso would later come up to bat in the eighth with runners on first and second to hit his second home run of the night.
His two home run, five RBI game made the Mets first baseman just two home runs away from tying David Wright on the franchise's all-time home run list and 13 away from passing Darryl Strawberry for the lead.
With the MLB season just starting June, Pete Alonso will be expected to pass Strawberry on the list sometime this year and become the New York Mets' all-time home runs leader.
Pete Alonso's five-RBI night and seventh of the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers moved him into the NL lead in RBI this season.
