The video of the incident has now gone viral on social media, and even Raymond Group MD Gautam Singhania slammed the car manufacturer, saying, 'This isn't a rare incident anymore.'
The unexpected incident took place on a busy street in Bengaluru. In the viral clip, flames were seen emitting from the engine at the rear of the car, and several people rushed to pour water on the car to douse the flames.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the incident; however, the exact cause of the incident is still unknown.
Who is the owner of the luxurious Lamborghini Aventador that caught fire in Bengaluru?
According to India TV, the Lamborghini is owned by social media influencer Sajeev, who is widely recognised on Instagram as Nimma Mane Maga Sanju.
Following the viral video of the fire, many assumed the luxury car was completely destroyed, but Sanjeev later confirmed the damage was minimal. Boasting over 2 lakh followers on Instagram, Sanjeev is famous for displaying his collection of luxury vehicles. Despite his extravagant lifestyle, he embraces his identity as a farmer and is frequently seen adorned with heavy gold jewellery on his neck and wrists.
Raymond Group MD Gautam Singhania expressed his concern about the car company

He took to his X (formerly called Twitter) to share his reaction and said, "Another day, another Lamborghini in flames. This time in Bengaluru, as per the report from NDTV. This isn't a 'rare incident' anymore. It's a pattern. Why is Lamborghini silent??? Why are their cars catching fire??? Are their cars safe??? Should they be allowed in India??? 🚫🏎️🔥."

While another expressed his concern on Reddit and said, "Do these companies sell scrap product to India???.. Every reputed brand has substandard products in India.. I have observed..be it fir bags, clothing and other, the bags they make for 3 to 5k in China and sell it to 4,5lakh..clothing is same too."
What could have led the Lamborghini to catch fire?
In the same Reddit thread, a user shared the possible causes of the incident; @Sharath4676 listed three main points on why the car caught fire.
Things that might have led to this:
The car is probably not serviced regularly.
Revving the engine while it is standing still in traffic, when the temperature is 30 degrees, with no airflow to cool the engine, will do this to an engine.
These cars are made to be driven on an open road, not being revved to their limit on Church Street.
People who buy these machines have absolutely no idea how to use them.
"Stop dissing the manufacturer and start to ignore these fools who are going around the city with these loud cars for attention from the jobless youths," he added in the report.
"It is mostly the second one; there are multiple such cases of people revving it in standstill traffic and cars burning up," another added.

Govt admits lower mileage in ethanol-blended fuel

Amid concerns and debates that ethanol blending in petrol has significantly reduced fuel efficiency and accelerated wear and tear of vehicle parts, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas recently addressed the impact of 20% ethanol blending (E20) on vehicle performance. The Ministry confirmed that ethanol has a lower energy density than petrol, which can cause a slight decrease in mileage. Four-wheelers designed for E10 and calibrated for E20 may experience a 1–2% drop in mileage, while other vehicles may see a reduction of 3–6% While the government's claim of up to 6% reduction in mileage on older vehicles suggests a very limited impact, consumers and some experts believe the impact on mileage to be a little higher. 'By its chemical composition, ethanol has lower energy per unit volume than petrol. This results in reduced fuel efficiency from any ethanol-blended petrol when compared to unadulterated petrol. While our internal estimate shows that E20 petrol gives 5-7% lower mileage than unadulterated petrol, primarily in vehicles manufactured before 2023, consumer feedback suggests the impact to be in double digits in real-world driving conditions,' said the head technical officer of a leading car company on the condition of anonymity. He advocated a discount for consumers on blended petrol given that ethanol is sourced locally and is much cheaper than crude. He said that this may compensate for the increased running costs. The administered ex-mill price of ethanol for blending purpose has been fixed at Rs 57.97 per litre. A GST of 5% levied on ethanol for blending with petrol, taking the per litre price to Rs 61. Petrol is priced around Rs 95 per lite (in Delhi).

Scroll call: Eyes on screen, hands off safety on Ahmedabad's roads

1 2 Doomscrolling takes on a new meaning on the city's roads. The seemingly harmless act of glancing at Instagram notifications or scrolling through social media while navigating traffic has become a public safety concern, with accident data revealing that casual mobile use behind the wheel poses far greater risks than many drivers realise. Using a mobile phone while driving is considered dangerous driving under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 . The recent amendments to it, implemented this March, raise fines for mobile use while driving, with first-time offenders facing fines of up to Rs 5,000 (up from Rs 500) for four-wheeler drivers and Rs 10,000 for repeat offenders. Fines for two-wheelers remain Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 for first and repeat offences, respectively. "Two-wheeler riders using mobiles while driving are a recipe for disaster," said Amit Khatri, a road safety expert and consultant. "To maintain optimum responsiveness and balance, both hands must be on the handlebars. Earphone use also poses a risk as in-ear music distorts external sounds, impairing judgment," he said, highlighting the risks involved. Khatri identified the 18-35 demographic, especially college students and office-goers, as the most frequent violators of these safety protocols. "Only stricter fine enforcement and vigilant policing can bring in behavioural change among riders, which is needed to curb this trend," he said. Of these, two-wheeler riders alone accounted for 8,086 cases. "Two-wheeler riders are the most common mobile-use offenders and also the vehicle group most involved in accidents and resulting fatalities," said joint commissioner of police (traffic) N N Chaudhari. Though a 2023 tender from the Ahmedabad Smart City Company (ASCC) proposed AI software upgrades for the city's CCTV e-memo issuing cameras, expanding its scope of detecting traffic violations from the current three infractions — jumping red lights, crossing stop lines and exceeding speed limits — to 32 offences, including using mobiles while driving, the proposed change has yet to be implemented.
