DyCM directs Mumbai Municipal Commissioner to not increase road restoration fee for Ganesh mandaps
As per the new regulations, a fee of Rs15,000 was to be charged for each road excavation for the erection of mandaps.
However, the Brihanmumbai Public Ganeshotsav Coordination Committee had demanded the cancellation of this increased fee. Responding to this, Deputy CM Shinde instructed that no hike should be made in the penalty amount. Hence, as per the old rules, only Rs 2,000 will be charged per excavation.
He further appealed to Ganesh mandals to avoid digging concrete roads and consider using modern technologies for mandap installation instead. The Deputy CM emphasized that with the widespread concretization of Mumbai's roads, innovative and non-destructive methods should be adopted.
The decision was welcomed by the Chairman of the Brihanmumbai Public Ganeshotsav Coordination Committee, Advocate Naresh Dahibhavkar, who expressed public gratitude to Deputy CM Shinde.

The Prime Minister also expressed that Shah still has more work to do in the future, and the alliance partners honoured him for his efforts and contribution." The visit is part of routine coordination between central and state leadership, especially with the upcoming civic elections. The BMC polls, significant for all major political parties, are expected to be announced soon. During the visit, Shinde was accompanied by key members of the Shiv Sena and was expected to meet several other senior leaders in Delhi. Turning to ‘spiritual powers' to fight ‘vote jihad' led to Mahayuti's victory: CM Fadnavis
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said he and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde turned to the 'spiritual powers' in the state to counter the 'vote jihad' experiment observed during last year's Lok Sabha election in May which led to their unprecedented victory in the assembly poll later in Nov. "An experiment was conducted in the name of 'vote jihad' during the Lok Sabha poll. Some people united to defeat nationalist thoughts. When we unearthed their conspiracy, I and Shinde Saheb, appealed to the spiritual powers in Maharashtra," he said. Fadnavis was speaking at an event organised by spiritual leader Ramgiri Maharaj at Shani Devgaon village in Vaijapur taluka of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP's Mahayuti alliance suffered a setback in Maharashtra during the Lok Sabha election but made a remarkable comeback six months later in the assembly poll. "We told Ramgiri Maharaj and other seers in Maharashtra that this (vote jihad) is not a political invasion but a clear attack on our culture. There is a feeling that a handful of people are uniting to defeat the thoughts of nationalism and our sants," Fadnavis said. No utilisation certificate, WB police funds withheld: Govt
NEW DELHI: Home ministry Wednesday said it has released central assistance of only Rs 7 crore for modernisation of police to West Bengal in the last five years, against the total allocation of Rs 117 crore under the head. In reply to a question by BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya in RS, Mos (home) Nityanand Rai said Bengal govt, as of July 31 this year, had an unspent balance of Rs 12.5 crore from the funds released to it under the central scheme 'assistance to states and UTs for modernisation of police' (ASUMP). Also, the state was yet to submit a utilisation certificate. Sharing data on the allocation and release of funds to Bengal, Rai said no funds were released in 2021-22, 2023-24 and 2025-26 (so far), despite allocations ranging from Rs 12.2 crore to Rs 28.9 crore. There was a release of Rs 6.5 crore in 2024-25 and Rs 54 lakh in 2022-23, with the latter approved as special grant under the home ministry contingency reserve.
