Miss World 2025: Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri shines as Miss World 2025, crowned in a dazzling ceremony in Hyderabad
Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri has been crowned Miss World 2025 at a glittering ceremony held on 31 May at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad. She received the prestigious title from outgoing Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic.
The 72nd edition of the global pageant saw 108 contestants from around the world competing for the crown. Ethiopia's Hasset Dereje was named first runner-up, while Poland's Maja Klajda secured the second runner-up position. Aurlie Joachim from Martinique rounded off the top four. India's representative, Nandini Gupta, made it to the top 20.
Who is Opal Suchata Chuangsri?
Born and raised in Phuket, Opal is currently pursuing a degree in international relations and works as a professional model. Her advocacy for breast cancer awareness stems from a personal experience — at just 16, she discovered a lump in her breast, which, though non-cancerous, motivated her to become a voice for early detection and awareness in Thailand.
Her advocacy initiative, Opal For HER, focuses on education and empowerment for women, and her finale gown was designed as a tribute to this mission — embodying the symbolic strength, beauty, and transformation of the opal gemstone.
Interestingly, Opal also competed in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant held in Mexico City, where she initially placed as the third runner-up. However, her ranking was later revoked after she accepted the Miss World Thailand title before completing her full reign as Miss Universe Thailand.
A Star-Studded Finale
The grand finale in Hyderabad was a celebration of beauty, culture, and purpose. It was hosted by former Miss World 2016, Stephanie del Valle — resplendent in a traditional Indian lehenga — and Indian television host Sachiin Kumbhar. The event featured energetic performances by Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter, bringing an extra touch of glamour to the evening.
The judging panel featured a mix of global personalities, including actor Sonu Sood — who was honoured with the Miss World Humanitarian Award — and Sudha Reddy, who currently serves as the Global Ambassador for the Miss World Foundation's 'Beauty With a Purpose" initiative. Also on the panel were Dr Caryna Turrell (Miss England 2014 and public health expert from the University of Cambridge) and reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszkova.
Julia Morley CBE, the Chairwoman of Miss World, led the jury, while the event was graced by several Indian celebrities, including actors Manushi Chhillar, Rana Daggubati, Namrata Shirodkar, and politician Chiranjeevi. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was also in attendance, underscoring the event's cultural significance.
This marks the second consecutive year that India has hosted the Miss World pageant — the 71st edition took place in Mumbai in 2024. With Hyderabad now joining the ranks of global cities that have welcomed this iconic event, the pageant continues to highlight India's growing prominence on the world stage.
As the new Miss World, Opal Suchata Chuangsri will spend the year championing her platform and travelling the globe as an ambassador for causes close to her heart, continuing the legacy of beauty with a purpose.

Meet star kid whose first film flopped and now he's betting big on Sunny Deol's next

No one's a born actor and acting is such a skill that evolves with time! The Indian film industry has witnessed many actors refining their mettle over the years. While a few keep working, some adapt a different approach and wait for a strong project to be offered. And the latter is the case with a budding actor, who's a son of a popular Bollywood figure. Well, we are talking about Ahan Shetty. Ahan was born on December 28, 1995, to Suniel and Mana Shetty. He has an elder sister, Athiya, who has now quit showbiz and is living away from the spotlight. Going by his social media handle, the 29-year-old seems to be a huge sports enthusiast. From football to shooting and tennis, he has never shied away from channeling his inner sportsman. Not only this, but the rookie actor maintains a sculpted physique by hitting the gym. One can notice several snaps from his gym and workout sessions on his social media profile. Coming to his career, Ahan Shetty marked his debut with the romantic action drama film Tadap (2021). Directed by Milan Lutharia, the movie featured Tara Sutaria as the female lead. Touted to be a remake of a hit Telugu film, RX 100. Unfortunately, it couldn't do wonders at the box office, and Tadap flopped drastically. Since then, Ahan didn't sign any project, but now, he's betting big on one of the most anticipated movies, Border 2. Yes, you read that right! The Tadap actor will be seen sharing screens with Sunny Deol in the sequel of Border. Helmed by Anurag Singh, the upcoming installment also stars Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. Border 2 is scheduled to release in cinemas next year during the Republic Day weekend. On the other hand, Ahan was set to star alongside Pooja Hegde in a movie titled Sanki, backed by Sajid Nadiadwala. However, according to the reports, the project has been put on the back burner. Well, as of now, the young actor has taken up 'mama' duty as Athiya welcomed a baby girl with her husband, KL Rahul.

Lisa Mishra Releases Queer Love Ballad ‘Teri Hoon' For Pride Month

Last Updated: Lisa Mishra drops new single 'Teri Hoon' for Pride Month, a soulful queer love ballad that captures the beauty and vulnerability of same-sex romance. After winning over fans with her heartfelt portrayal in the series The Royals and earlier earning acclaim for her singing prowess, Indian-American artist Lisa Mishra returns to her musical roots with a moving new single, Teri Hoon. Released during the first week of Pride Month, the love ballad is more than just a song—it's a poetic love letter to queer romance, delicately exploring the emotional landscapes of love between two women. Known for her distinct voice and evocative songwriting, Lisa Mishra has made a mark with chart-toppers like Tareefan from Veere Di Wedding, Aa Mil with Zaeden, and Sajna Ve with Vishal Mishra. But Teri Hoon feels different—it's personal, intimate, and deeply vulnerable. Co-composed and performed by Lisa herself, the track unfolds like a gentle confession, drenched in longing and the tender hope of being seen and held. Inspired by her time playing the character Niki on The Royals, Lisa felt compelled to create a musical piece that could capture the kind of quiet yet powerful love she experienced while stepping into the shoes of a queer woman. The lyrics of Teri Hoon are written from one woman to another, and the accompanying music video embraces that ambiguity with grace. Featuring contemporary dancer Isha Sawant, the video blurs the lines between reality and emotion—leaving the audience to interpret whether Isha is a lover or simply a mirror of the artist's own yearning. The choice is intentional, reflecting the universal experience of vulnerability in love. Speaking about the song, Lisa shared, 'This song is very close to my heart. After spending the past few months in the world of The Royals—a show that allowed me to grow as an actor—it felt like the perfect time to return to music, which has always been my first love." She added that Teri Hoon is an ode to enduring, powerful love and that she hopes to reintroduce audiences to the charm of classic romantic ballads made with real instruments. Lisa's creative synergy with Call Me Bae cinematographer Anuj Samtani brings a cinematic depth to the video, enriching its visual storytelling. With subtle choreography, minimalistic lighting, and an emotionally raw performance, the music video complements the sincerity of the track without overwhelming it. Reflecting on the creative process, Lisa said, 'Writing and composing this song allowed me to reconnect with the emotional roots of why I started making music in the first place. It's deeply personal, and I've poured a lot of myself into it. I hope it resonates with lovers everywhere." As Teri Hoon begins to make its way into the playlists of romantic souls across the globe, Lisa Mishra once again affirms her place as one of India's most versatile voices—one who moves seamlessly between Bollywood glamour and indie depth, and between acting and singing, without losing her authentic emotional core. In an industry often driven by trends, Teri Hoon is a quiet revolution—a celebration of queer love, timeless romance, and the kind of music that lingers long after the last note. First Published:

Housefull 5 Director Recalls Shah Rukh Khan's Advice: '99 Per Cent Of Your Job Is...'

Last Updated: Tarun Mansukhani recalled Shah Rukh Khan's behaviour on sets. Director Tarun Mansukhani is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Housefull 5. The film features 19 celebrated actors coming together for a comedy-thriller. However, one actor whose advice Tarun follows as a rule of thumb is Shah Rukh Khan. In a recent chat with Galatta India, Tarun recalled Shah Rukh's golden advice. Tarun said, 'I remember just before starting Dostana, he told me, 'What you think is direction, like, putting the camera here, or setting the shot, is just 1% of filmmaking, 99% of your job is managing people.'" Tarun has worked with Shah Rukh Khan as an assistant and associate director on films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006). 'I've seen him picking up chairs and helping wrap up shoots quickly when rain was approaching. He'd become like an assistant director just to get things done efficiently. He is so much a part of the crew that you will never feel that he is Shah Rukh Khan. He is always cracking jokes, and most importantly, he constantly teaches you," Tarun said. Meanwhile, as for Housefull 5, the film will reportedly be the most expensive comedy film of Indian cinema. With 19 A-list celebrities, a whopping budget and the tag of a successful franchise, all eyes are on Housefull 5 to 'revive' Indian cinema. As per Pinkvilla's sources, 'From a star-cast of 19 acclaimed actors to the logistical challenges of shooting at real locations with a massive ensemble, Housefull 5 was among the most difficult films to set up for Sajid Nadiadwala. He has made a lavish 'Killer Comedy' for the audience, without compromising on the costs." The report mentions that Housefull 5 is being made on a budget of Rs 225 crore (Excluding PnA). If the report is to be believed, Housefull 5 is the most expensive comedy film in Indian cinema, surpassing the budgets of films like Housefull 4 and Golmaal Again. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey and Johnny Lever among others.
